In Yunnan Dai cuisine, the most impressive and irreplaceable flavouring is lemongrass. It has an aroma of lemon and citrus that is fresh and strong. Lemongrass is frequently used in barbecue and stir-fries in Dai cuisine because it can reduce and relieve internal heat. In the hot summer, it's often used in cooling tea to relieve summer heat. Smelling this unique aroma of lemon, I feel refreshed and then I get a craving for Dai cuisine.

Lemongrass is 1 of the most aromatic, fragrant + refreshing spices. It is used extensively in Thai Cuisine. (The Yunnan Dai People are similar to Southeast Asians around Thailand.) Pen Ji really put a lot of effort in her cooking + videos. From harvesting the lemongrass, washing all the ingredients, the labor intensive, but precise chopping + cutting, to the complicated cooking of her Michelin quality dishes, can easily take a whole day. No wonder she was "late" in delivering lunch to her family. But as Axia displayed, the heavenly meal was worth waiting for + bragging about. (Pen Ji is too modest.) I would love to have her "simple" dinner of shrimp + fish EVERY WEEK !!! Nothing that Pen Ji ever cooks is simple.

Axia is so adorable! I love how she loves every food Penjie makes. And our Fufu is learning tricks and is being a really good boy. Thankful that he has found the most loving family he deserves. Kind of surprised with the lemonade with the lemongrass. We only use it for chicken stews or grills. Wonder what it tastes with the lemonade. Plus that shrimp sauce looks heavenly! But I'm allergic to shrimp 😭

In Ecuador, we use lemongrass as a tea. It is very refreshing and great for stomach problems

It can also be used to prevent mosquitos. Put water in a jar together with lemongrass and place it near you. It can be used for about 4-5 days.
