Spicy River Snails, My All-Time Favorite

When was the last time you caught those river snails?
I enjoyed catching river snails when I was a kid. But I usually came home all muddy with little success. My brother Hao isn't as naughty, though he likes eating just like me. We caught a bucket of river snails and made two dishes. Aside from hard to clean, river snails are the best ingredients. Both the boiled river snails or the spicy flavored ones are quite delicious!

Same with me. I live in village in malaysia. When i still a little kid me and my friends like to find snail river. I will make sure my bucket full with snail rivers because it my siblings favourite. LOL. Even for most Chinese people, the hot chilly portion is too big. But in Yunnan, there is dense humidity, so people eat of hot chilly to wend off the humidity to their body for health. It is a tradition passed down through generations.

I'm really amaze on how she prepare the ingredients from raw to cook ingredients. I love the way she cooks without the use of MSG. Just natural herbs and spices is enough. When we were younger we loved to go out to catch snails, we used to be drenched in mud despite only having caught a few snails. AHao isn't as playful as I used to be, but we share an appetite for them so we caught a bucket-load of them and cooked them in 2 flavours. Other than being difficult to clean, these snails are amazing to prepare and cook. Whether it be fragrant or spicy, they're always delicious!

Honey Pear You know one day I harvested a basket of green onions, in China they get kind of big, about one meter tall each. I was supposed to tie the together and make a bunch, but I for got one bunch by the barn and the cow ate them, the second day her milk kind of tasted a little spicy. Good times, but living in the country side and actually own your land, grow food and raise live stocks is just too tired, so much for me.

Freshwater snails curry are one of my favourite Dish. Generally, we cook the snails with chives, potatoes and of course with lots of chillies.
