One of the creators of the Afromanding sound, Sam Jarju is a musical and cultural veteran who has resided in Sweden since 1975. He was one of the founders of Sangamar Band, the first band that recruited the late Musa Afia Ngum to be its lead singer. He was instrumental in bringing Musa Ngum to Sangamar. Musa Ngum later moved to Gelewarr Band as lead singer. He was married to famous Swedish film and theatre director Ingmar Bergman’s daughter and was neighbours with the late Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and the Swedish king.
