Another security measure: everyone who has studied a die knows that the opposite numbers always add up to 7. What people may not realize is that the arrangement of the pairs adding up to 7 is also closely regulated. This is because a die with a different arrangement is difficult to catch if someone is not looking for it and thus cheaters may use a different arrangement so they can keep track of loaded dice. Trained pit crews in the US will look out for "left handed dice" with the non-standard pip arrangement. The standard die used in American casinos is right handed. You can tell it is a right handed die if you look at the corner with the 1 2 and 3 and the numbers count up in a counterclockwise direction. This is also a way you can tell if a die is Chinese or American as most Chinese dice are left handed and American dice are right handed.

I just learned craps, my friend who's really into it taught me the inverted v 33, I focused really hard on replicating the exact same toss every time and rolled for 90 minutes straight! The table was a zoo by the end of it and I got tipped a fair amount as well it was so fun. I'm hooked now I want to be more than just a random number generator if I get the chance to roll again so I'm trying to study dice techniques.

If you pick up a dice that bounced off the table, on to the floor, hand it directly to the dealer or boxperson. This is the only time you can hand them something. Never just toss it back on the table. Different dice may have been sent and it will disrupt the roll with 3 dice on the table, causing a no roll.

About 20 yrs ago, during the day at MGM, I was practicing my new found doubles dice set. I had made one pass and an EZ 10 became my new point. I took double odds, a place bet and hard 6, 8 & 10. I set the dice with 5s up, 6 left and 1s right. No hard ways hit but I threw an 11 five times on 10 rolls, before I 7'ed out. The dealers changed the dice and I was asked to take a walk by 2 big guys in suits with ear pieces, down a long hallway to a cigarette machine. One of them asked "What just happened back there?" I said "I dunno, I was trying to make a hard 10. Just couldn't do it." I had only won $30 on the last 2 11s in a row for $1. The guy said really? Then he gave me a coupon for $50 off in the gift shop. Pretty scared. Got a MGM golf shirt but I've never played there again. Now days I find that if I tip or make a Pass bet for the crew I'll sometimes get the dice with 5s up from the stick man.

The Casino used the next 6 minutes to bring in the Circus: 5 players new to the table, the chip cage box to replace the table Bank, 2 more box dealers and an additional pit boss. I got the dice back after this 6 minute delay. I announced to the original 6 players that were at the table with me before the Circus: "I am going to roll a 7 - Please bet accordingly." I put $200 on 7 to show I was serious. Rolled a 9, I put $400 on 7 this time. My table friends pulled all their bets. The new "Circus" people of 5 bet the wagon and the horse. I hit "Seven" and got $1600. The table went crazy and 2 of my table friends tipped me $100. :)

The biggest bettor on that table that tipped me $100 - 8 hours later flagged me down to "roll" again at a new table. I only had $20 left on my 2 hour adjusted Bank Roll. I almost declined, but had a player's ranking card on a player at the table he took me to. I hate to bet 7 on a friend, but: I bet $5 on 7 when he tossed, I lost: then my Last $15 on 7 - He hit a 7. I took my $60 and my $15 (I always had $6K with me, but my game plan was only $300 per session). I was the next shooter. NEW IDEA: TIP the Dealers - make a $5 bet for the Dealers on the "FIRE BET" - after the last 3 circus delays I saw that week - hoped that would work. I got to the 4th Fire Bet after 11 winning points - and after each point - I made sure the dealers were "really wanting" to win with me. Then the call for the Circus? Nope - my new idea worked. These guys did not want to miss out on $5 tip going for $125 . I got the next Fire Bet and everyone was happy. :)

This is true, you are not allowed to "cross the center line".....the dealer has to see that you have no dice left in your hand when the throw is complete, and if you cross that line, they no longer have visual of your open hand directly. It's possible that the dealer can, but it's not always about "you" but rather if we allow "you" to do it, then we have to allow EVERYONE to do it, and then we get into problems. Back when Benny owned the Horseshoe there was a period of time when the hustlers would throw sliders. It was thrown with the forearm level and a whipping action upon release. The intent was to have one die slide to the back rail with no tumble. Benny's first countermeasure was to stretch a string across the middle of the table from rail top to rail top with instructions to throw over the string. The string was a pain in the butt for the dealers to work around so when the tables got refelted a sting was glued under the felt following one of the lines bordering the Pass Line area, in effect becoming a speed bump.

With all of the side bets that now clutter the entire center of a craps table seeing someone trying to slide is almost a thing of the past. What do you think about this strategy for craps? You can play this on a machine with the bubble, nice thing about those machines is they will pay you the odds, you don't have to bet 6.00 on the 6 and 8, they'll give it to you, the odds for a dollar equal 1.17 on 6&8. example, at a dollar per unit, lay the five for 2 .00, place the 6 and 8 for $2 each and $1 in the field. This is fun because everything is inaction. I lose on a 5 or 7, when a five comes up I'll lose three units or $3, when the 7 comes up, I lose 3.6 units or $3.60, but when the six and eight hit I win about 1.34 because I get the odds with the machines, which are random and have a low limit, some machines will pay three on the 12 field, two on the 2.
@geeterdun59664 жыл бұрын
It's a bad strategy because for each loss you have to hit the 6 or 8 three times just to recover your losses. 10 ways to hit the 7 or 5. 10 ways to hit the 6 or 8. The math doesn't add up.

The only employees that SHOULD be watching the dice at all times during a roll would be the stick person and the Box person. The two base dealers should ONLY be waching the layout in front of them preventing players from past posting or pinching their bets. Base dealers that watch the dice are said to be "Hawking" the dice and it is not permitted. The mirrors on the stick side of the table are used by the Box person to be able to keep track of a larger section of the table without having to turn his/her body as much. Box people can also use the mirrors to keep an eye out for whats called "dirty stacks". Simply put, an incorrect denomination cheque mixed in with a stack of cheques. In my 20+ years experience I have not seen an entire set of dice ever changed during a "hot roll". I have taken one of the dice out of play due to problem with that dice until the roll is "over" at which point the remaining dice are taken out of play and new dice brought into play. Over all a good video

you missed the biggest most obvious anti cheating tool they have - the mirrors lining the inside of the craps tables. these are for detecting what are called "tops" or "Ts" which are mis-pipped dice; meaning a die with duplicate numbers on them (usually three sets of duplicates) since you can only see three sides of a die at once, a mirror is utilized to see the opposite side of the die. an other anti cheating tool some casinos have is what i think they call a "trip bar", which is basically a bar running across the table to prevent dice sliding. if a die is slid across the table, it will simply hit the bar and force it to tumble and cease sliding. one reason dealers only let you place your chips on the outside bets yourself is to prevent passed posting. if everyone were reaching into the center of the table to place bets, it would easily get too crowded, and who knows what could happen then. passed posting and stealing of other opponents chips etc... a few other key things to note: - casino dice are not as precise as advertised. they often come in between 2/10,000ths to 5/10,000ths of an inch in discrepancy. in a book called "casino game protection" by steve forte, there is a story of a man who came into possession of a caisno die that was manufactured to be off by 30/10,000ths of an inch seemingly intentionally. he contacted the office of the attorney general, gaming devision regarding the matter, and their response was: "there are no technical standards presently adopted by the nevada gaming commissions regulations defining the exact dimensions to which a die must conform." - dice switching only requires one hand to accomplish - dice being clear does not deter cheaters from loading them with weight or magnetic powder. the depth of the pips is usually only slightly extended and hard to notice, or sanded finish dice are used, or all the pips are drilled slightly deeper to match each other. - things like serial numbers and casino logos are not always a barrier to cheaters. there are images out there of portable foil stamp machines that would plug into a car lighter outlet to heat up the die (metal die for foil stamping, not die as in dice) and stamp a casino logo and serial number into a gaffed (unfair) die. that's all i can think of for now.

The "keep it below eye level" is not heavily enforced, it's not because of the game protection (dealer should be watching the player's hand during release and up to 2 seconds after release before looking to the other side for the dice landing), it is rather because it has more of a chance of the dice going out of the game.....this slows the game down and takes attention away from other games for the floorman. As long as you are hitting the back wall and it doesn't go out too often, you'll rarely hear someone tell you to "keep it below the eye" (unless the boss is a complete asshat and just wants to shake you up in your throw -- I don't do it, you're there to have fun, I honestly don't care if you hit the ceiling as long as it lands in the table and hits the back wall, lol). Another security measure is sometimes the dice get scored (a small pin prick next to a serial number).

Get one of those dice balancers that spin. It's a metal holder that will check the dice. If you've done much reading in this area you will know there has been more than 1 casino that has been known to use unbalanced or biased dice. There has been extensive research in this area and just so you know Nevada basically does what they want in terms of dice quality. Rather than get into too much confrontation with others, I'll just say if you think casinos run a fair game than you're naive. You would be shocked when you see how wacked out A LOT of dice really are and I'm talking about non-cancelled genuine casino dice! Here's a type of caliper, there are different ones of much HIGHER quality(just whip one of these out at your friendly neighborhood craps table and see what they say, lol): www.avalongaming.com/security-surveillance/dice-balancing-caliper.html

Great information! In the years past, only places with wacked dice would not sell their used dice. I am sure most 'places' now will have used dice available - but if you find a 'place' that will not or does not sell their used DICE - You can be sure those 'places' use wacked DICE. I have not seen any Casino use a caliper at the table in 12 years now.

Is there a thing called sliding the dice? It means the dice dont roll but slid into position .I heard that this is actually a convicted crime. What up?
@ColorUp4 жыл бұрын
That is correct, usually one dice is slide, and the second dice is rolled to make it look like a legit roll of both. Lot of times done in teams so one person distracts the dealers. Some tables have a ridge or bump along the middle of table to prevent this and would cause a slid dice to tumble.

They used to take you into a room hidden away somewhere probably in the back of the casino and beat the shit out of you if they suspected a cheat. This tactic gets a reputation among shifty players who then would avoid those places while attempting any fuckery. This worked as a counter-cheat tactic pretty well, for the most part. Or, so I have heard. Periodically, I suppose a joint needs to remind folks that the policy still stands, though. I wonder if, from time to time, it may become necessary to entice any talented, brave, or desperate takers to have a go at any "dishonest" game play. I'm assuming these things, for the most part. I'm pretty sure that they are historically factual. I'm not a player. I've never set foot inside of any casino anywhere. I have never even gambled for money or just for fun. I have always maintained a strict no gambling personal policy. This way, I avoid all pitfalls that go with that lifestyle. No, I just watch a lot of old movies. I know. lame right? Lol! Another little known, "non-violent" technique to shut down any possible tampering is that the casinos reserve the right to refuse game play to anyone at any time or altogether ban a person either temporarily or for life. Consistantly beating the odds, which are always in favor to the house, or miraculously taking the house during high stakes game play is considered a big time indicator of some of manipulation. This tends to get you put under the microscope pretty much instantly. Some people are considered to have an uncommon luckyness about them that they quickly become notorious for. Sooner or later, their invitations get revoked. An example of one of these well known former high rollers is Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship. With all things being considered, consider this. Be sure to always keep it real. That's real talk!
