Omg, same here! I played Mtg and Yugioh as a wee lad, but collected the Pokemon cards. As soon as _my_ nephew (8) showed interest, my sister dumped him at my feet and basically said “You deal with this, you’re the godfather.” He owns three folders of his favourites (that’s a lot of favourites) and a few absolute valuables that I told him “never to trade, because one day, you could be looking at a pretty penny ;) “

A slight correction: You check for Basic Pokemon at the beginning of the game *before* you set out prize cards. Prize cards only get set once both players have at least one Basic Pokemon.

Learned and taught my 6yr old niece how to play as I got her some cards for Christmas. It's a pretty simple game, and she pretty much understood how to play after one game. I recommend getting a premade deck for about £10-12, they are labeled 1 to 3 (I think) and a level 1 deck was perfect entry for niece.

I have two questions, for the burn you said each turn, do you mean the players turn or both players turn? And for when you said after the coin flips aren’t working we can retreat but you also said the Pokémon can’t retreat? Those two things I was a bit confused on.
@misholx_8 ай бұрын
Burn and poison damage is infected at the end of each player's turn, that means both you and your opponent, you can't retreat only if your Pokémon is asleep or paralysed 😁

@misholx_8 ай бұрын
Hi, I can answer your questions 😊 1. In the Pokémon tcg baby Pokémon like smoochum do not evolve, that means their evolutions are basic Pokémon too. 2. You can have as many types of Pokémon in your deck as you want. 3. Basic Pokémon ex do not evolve, for example, a Pikachu ex could not evolve into raichu, you can look at a card of raichu and see that above the picture will be written "evolves from Pikachu" not Pikachu ex. I hope I helped, if you have any more questions feel free to ask 😊

20-20-20 is absolutely terrible advice. Any real Pokémon deck is closer to like 12 Pokémon, 40 trainer cards, and 8 energy cards. If you want to simplify that to a rounded 10-40-10, and use that as your heuristic, that would be fine. But 20 energy is patently insane unless you're doing some weird build that requires tons of energy cards (like celebrations kyogre). Plus, you can play as many item cards in a turn as you want, whereas you only get one energy attach per turn, and have a fine amount of bench space.
@robertbaker9010 ай бұрын
I’ll bet my bottom dollar I take you 3 for 3 if you’re only using 8 energy cards. That’s horrible advice
@ZaphodBeeblebrox-sy8ey10 ай бұрын
@robertbaker90 You are so wrong. Just go to limitless and look up any recent tournament list. Mew Vmax decks play 6 energy. Charizard Pigeot decks play 6 energy. Roaring Moon decks play 6 energy. Giratina actually is playing 12, which is a lot, but their draw engine burns cards in a way that can't be regained, and their energy costs have 3 different types, which is a bit restrictive. Gardevoir also plays 12, but that's not because they need them for energy requirements. They're searching them up and using them to ping you. You can also just play regular single prize lost box and get away with like 4 energy. In short, shut up. You have no idea what you're talking about.
@misholx_8 ай бұрын
@@robertbaker90it's true that most competitive Pokémon decks play around 10 energy cards.
@misholx_8 ай бұрын
You're correct, but you need to remember this is a guide for beginners. If they'll play a deck with such low energy count without a good engine they'll struggle to find those energy cards. For beginners I would recommend playing around 15 Pokémon, 12-15 energy and 30 trainers.

this game sucks so so much unless you're using a an upgraded deck that lets you find necessary cards more easily... otherwise, it's mostly a race for who reaches a single stage 2 evolution first, since that alone is enough to win the game and there's no way to get rid of it, because there are no counter spells, damaging spells, etc. i doubt anyone will see me playing this ever again haha
