I was a little confused about Morbos motion as well. Had me wondering if he was positioning himself to wield the damn thing. However using the bonus action to attack a second time is meant for subsequent turns especially since it is also a bonus action to cast.
@randalladkins74524 жыл бұрын
@@MorinehtarTheBlue Yes, and that also means he had an action left that he could have used to cast another spell, though I believe it has to level 2 or below, or maybe just a cantrip, or maybe he could have just missed with his melee mace attack again. :)
@MorinehtarTheBlue4 жыл бұрын
@@randalladkins7452 Sounds like your a Critter. RAW it's just a cantrip. Your talking about Mercer's house rules with the 2nd level thing. Though now that you've pointed it out I'm thinking Matt didn't read his spell properly. From that frame of reference he cast the spell as his action and moved an attacked as his bonus actiion. It's silly mistakes like that which make the Dicebreaker look amateurish in a subject they're supposedly experts in.
@randalladkins74524 жыл бұрын
@@MorinehtarTheBlue I know if you cast a spell as a bonus action, you can at least cast a cantrip as an action. Dice breakers are great and I very much enjoy them. They just don’t seem to be as into d&d as they are into other RPGs. (I.e. lore wise, the had the Demons Yeenagu and Baphomet ruling in Avernus instead of the Abyss. And Morbos could understand them, though as a Tiefling he would know infernal, not Abyssal). I figure they could take it that Morbos attacked and missed with his Mace for his actual action. I just thought he might have a better chance with a spell (though his spell save is only 9, despite the fact he could have finally raised it by raising his WIS stat when he leveled up at level 3)!
@MorinehtarTheBlue4 жыл бұрын
@@randalladkins7452 That's more about them playing fast and loose with the rules. Johnny is actually pretty great with that but it's a style that can take some getting used to if you care about those rules. Morbos, despite being a cleric, has a really low wisdom score so a spell attack really isn't a good as it would be if his stats were specced appropriately. Matt may have done that in order to gimp the character for comedic effect. But the level at which most classes (fighters and rogues get a few extra) can get either stat increases or a feat is 4 anyway.

I honestly just wanted to give Johnny a hug... and also Tim the Goblin.

Yeah, there's a point when the characters aren't particularly likable anymore, and it's a bit unfair to the lone "good" character to be stuck with this group when they might in character have left them and joined up with Amelia, except she's not a PC. It also kinda removes all the dramatic tension when the characters don't care about the huge dramatic thing they caused? I think it's interesting but kinda fell flat for me. Especially as Morbos' character always struck me as "trying to be cool evil but is actually mostly good and embarrassed about it", which is a lot more interesting than just welp guess he's evil, which is more where this episode went.

These are wonderful, but the combat would definitely be improved (for all videos like this, not just this series) with simple map illustrations for the viewers. It's distracting when the DM, the players, and the viewers each have (sometimes wildly) different ideas of where everyone is located. Like around the 5 minute mark Johnny starts saying most people aren't in the cave, when I was pretty sure they spent hours disguised as rocks *inside the cave*, and the npc party members were just hiding behind actual rocks deeper inside, and only Fizz was outside the entrance? Are there two rooms in this cave? Even a rough sketch would really help so we can all follow without having to say "wait, what?" when what we're picturing isn't the same as what Johnny has in his head.

i said it on the last part but fizz and mist really have taken a level in jerkass. "i don't want to talk with this guy whose home we inadvertently destroyed and are now demanding a reward from, because he has a bad attitude about his home being destroyed" i know that's kind of the point - Fizz is a pragmatic arsehole and Mist is in idiot who can't read the room, but i just don't like them as much as i used to. Tim and Morbos, however, have really gone up in my books. Tim's steadily becoming more realistic and sensible, and is starting to stand up for himself and others more often. Morbos hasn't changed much beyond tempering his general malice and people skills but he's still a bit of a bastard, who is endearingly a secretly good person. this adventure was good, it was pretty hilarious - but for the first time in dungeonbreaker i was kind of - not rooting for the bad guys but i wasn't rooting for the party all that much.

I’ve actually felt that Fizz and Morbos are the only characters that make sense and feel right rn. The others, though I love them, aren’t consistent and hold up progress at times (most arguing started because Tim or Mist wanted to do something ridiculous, escalated a small minor detail that wasn’t important or disagreed w something that they’ve already done before so shouldn’t be a problem). Fizz has clear motives, and is acting upon them, and Morbos is too. They’re not really the problem, theyre just the clearly evil ones :’) I’m really not hating on them, I love them all, but I don’t think Fizz or Morbos are the ones causing the issues here all the time at least (and if they do, it’s very much in character).
@MorinehtarTheBlue4 жыл бұрын
I kind of think that those two pairs aren't really gelling together as a party. Fizz is a kenku trying to deal with a racial curse. His intelligence and identity are dependent upon potions in a very Flowers for Algernon sort of way. Those potions aren't cheap so he has needs and somewhat of a point about reasonable compensation. Though I think they still need to consider that the townsfolk are not in a position to meet their needs. You can't get blood from a stone.
@Matthew-pd4zx4 жыл бұрын
Juniper Honey Agreed. I actually kind of like Fizz and have done throughout, and Morbos has really grown on me the last 2 arcs. Mist is getting a bit too moronic/annoying and while I like Tim, sometimes his long-winded monologues, that are already hard to understand because of fake teeth sometimes, just bog everything down and are more a hindrance than its worth. Also, I get that they go loose with the actual rules and that's fine, but some times it is too far and I'd rather there were some limits on this... Oxventure bends the rules in fun ways while maintaining a semblance of 'order' I guess..
