RIP: Liza Ohman. The back up singer behind Benny. She passed away on January 20th, 2022 in Stockholm. She placed third in the 1980 Melodie competition behind her co-singer with ABBA, Thomas Ledin. The day after her and Thomas flew to join ABBA on their tour in Japan. I believe this appearance with ABBA was her last. She was known for her positive attitude even during some of the difficult parts of the ABBA global tours.

I thought it was touching how close Agnetha and Frida stood throughout the performance, and also how they seemed to gain more courage and strength as the performance progressed. It was a terrible time for them--especially Frida. And yet they managed to put on a incredible performance. It was the end, yes, but they were unmatchable and they knew it. There will never be another Abba. They really did catch lightning in a bottle.

NIce comments. We all want to believe that Frida and Agnetha were friends, even at the end. I posted a comment on another video, even later than this one, where they were literally touching shoulders when they sang together. Edit-oh, it's this one. ABBA is considered one of the largest in music history with over 400 million records sold (2014 but new statistics indicate that there are still larger sales figures due to misreporting in some countries) ABBA is one of the few artists to have achieved success across all the continents of the earth. In the mid-1970s, they were the most successful pop group in the world in all categories. Abba has nearly 70 singles as number 1 worldwide and over 60 albums as number 1. Worldvide --- In the UK they had 19 straight top 10 singles, 10 singles and nine albums as no. 1 on the British top list of which eight are in succession (1975, -76, -77, -78, -79, -80, -81, -82). In 2014, the group had sold at least 400 million records and is thus Sweden's most successful music export of all time. Abbas Music also palyed Now in the Musical and Film "Mamma Mia" and in other films and Musicals. Abba became the first pop group from Continental Europe / Nordic to achieve greater success in the English-speaking world for a long time. Abba was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 and the Swedish Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

Not bad for a band who some people said were a studio act. The women's voices harmonise perfectly.

Not bad... That sounds sarcastic....

They rarely harmonized though, did they? They almost always sang in unison, did they not?
@brunobution63675 жыл бұрын
Joe Flink Hell to the no! They actually used to harmonize ALOT

@@brunobution6367 You could be right. I'm not an ABBA completist, after all. Still, I can't think of a single example of them singing in intervals of thirds or fifths. Perhaps you could point me to an example or two; I'd like to hear that. Regardless, I didn't mean that as a put down. Their unison singing was an incredibly compelling force which characterized most of their major hits, just as Fleetwood Mac capitalized largely on their vocal harmonies.
@brunobution63675 жыл бұрын
@@DrMackSplackem Frida usually do more of the harmonies; Agnetha usually do harmonizations when they are supposed to sound higher. For example: Frida sings the verses on Super Trouper but Agnetha mostly harmonizes the shit out of her verses etc. You are right that when they sing together they hardly harmonize but still Frida usually opens vocals to her. Gimme gimme gimme is another song that Frida also harmonizes alot.

Wow Agnetha. Breathing control singing 'Gimmie 'Gimmie ' Gimmie a man after midnight ' So professional as always 🎤 x
