Carl Wilson was adorable... natural gentleman , of a shocking beauty. always elegant, ironic, ever, since he was a young Beach boys. As a child I didn't understand how long there had been Beach Boys or even if they were older then me. I only knew that they were my friends and with their music, they accompanied my days... Listening Good Vibrations I feel in love with Carl's Wilson voice and person.... And I remain the same fan ever, despite the passage of time... Sometime we need a compass and we almost always follow a course, a direction, anyway. My love for Him, for Carl Wilson will be forever.

Sorry, but mikey "love"s' the beach boys. The Beach Boys stopped being a real band, with the loss of ALL mikey's cousins, and the Jardine contingent. Not all of mikey's cousins are deceased, Brian is still here. (And, was here in Phoenix, just a few days after my birthday, and a couple weeks before his and Sir Paul's.) The band now referred to as the beach boys, is a fourth-rate Beach Boys cover/tribute band. Jan and Dean were better. A local (San Jose/Santa Cruz) band is better. The Brian Wilson Band, did you see Brian's name? Mister Beach Boy? Name a better Beach Boys band. Mikey "love"s' band? (Can ANYONE prove the love from mikey?) steve

For those who stumble upon the vid and are curious or unaware... Myrna Smith was with The Sweet Inspirations, well known today for backing Elvis, but they sang backgrounds for practically everyone in the 60s from Aretha to Van Morrison. They also put out their own FANTASTIC, soulful albums on Atlantic and Stax records. She is from the Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick/Cissy Houston family of singers (New Hope Baptist Chruch in Newark, New Jersey). She made a huge contribution to pop music. :-) R.I.P.

Carl Wilson has a look of intelligence and he probably took over The Beach Boys as the musical director and like Brian before him quietly tolerated Mike Love who really wanted to be in charge but did not have the musical talent.

What did Dick Clark meant when at the end of the interview said to the lady "I wish you much good luck. I offer you my deepest sympathy now that you're working with (Carl rolling his eyes)... no he's... (Clark looking at Carl) I'm making you out to be a holy terror, you're the guy who is a moment of sanity and a lot of moments of my life". In which Carl responded "aw, thank you" with a obligatory polite smile out of confusion and in trying to not make a scene. Than Dick Clark said "the last kind words you'll ever hear from me. Lady and gentlemen please..." that is when Carl abruptly drop his smile. Then Carl took off his guitar with an angry face and quickly turned and walked out as if he couldn't stayed a moment longer. There has to be some bad blood going on between Clark and the Beach Boys. With the words like "holy terror" in working with him and "a moment of sanity" (hinting to Brian Wilson's mental disorder) pair with "a lot of moments of my life" and then "the last kind worlds you'll ever hear from me". As if Dick Clark was speaking in dog whistle codes that only Carl Wilson could understand. Look at how Carl took off his guitar in pure disgust and repulse as quickly as possible while walking off stage! Other keywords from Clark: "You felt like making music, but this is not the music I've expected, I would have typecast you into Beach Boy music?" "When did you ran into this lady here...who would put up with you?" "Well you see I've known him since he was a kid...was he any easier than when he was a boy?" "Was he matured gracefully?" "This came off a little - you went to a studio somewhere" I feel so sorry for Carl for whatever that was about! Dick Clark was being so unprofessional and a complete jerk to him. This interview was so vicious! What did the Beach Boys or Carl ever done to Dick Clack to deserve this treatement? It would be interesting to find out what all the beef was about. Why did Dick Clark acted and spoke in this way to Carl?

Myrna Smith was also Jerry Schilling's wife at the time, who was Carl's manager (or had something to do with Carl.) Myrna may have been a strong singer, but she wasn't much of a lyricist.
@ms8596
@ms8596 5 жыл бұрын
There seems to be a trend - Wilson brothers writing great music, but needing lyricists. Myrna wasn't bad, compared to Brian's major lyrical collaborator, but no, she did not set the world on fire either.

Wow, Dick Clark made Carl Wilson looked so uncomfortable! It is painful to watch! Just when Carl tried to go out on his own to make music history, Dick Clark made him look like he didn't have what it takes to be a success without his brothers. Asking his "song writing partner" if Carl is "easy to work with"? What the hell? What a joke! Dick Clark should have asked the lady what is it like to have the opportunity to work with a legend of rock and roll that is Carl! It seems as though Dick Clark talked down at Carl like he was the little kid brother of the Beach Boys. You know how in life you are a friend with an older brother and he has that annoying little kid brother that you have to tolerate? Dick Clark presented himself in this interview as an elder to Carl and being wiser than that snotty kid he knew. Making his long time relationship with the Wilson brothers as a keynote of the interview at the expense of Carl when he needed support and encouragements the most at that stage in his career. It is condescending to say the least if not being disrespectfull. I don't care if Dick Clark had known the brothers since they were all kids. Here is Carl as a full grown man with all of his personal achievements being talked down at as though he is still a kid and dominated by Dick Clark as if he is still the irrelevent background singing baby brother of the Beach Boys who is being overshawdowed and carried by his older brothers. I've lost all respect for Dick Clark on this one. This interview is so unprofessional...it is almost insulting! Carl is such a gracious, generous, kind and gentle soul that he wouldn't assert himself even when he was being overrun by the show host. My great respect to Carl Wilson for being such a gentleman. This video reflect badly on Dick Clark. If only Carl could have been interviewed personally by Johnny Carson instead. It would have been a treasure trove!
