Although Brian and Carl were also into drugs, especially Brian, they were quite soft users compared to Dennis. Dennis was the hardcore Wilson brother. He was the only blonde, extroverted, cool and surfer one amongst his brothers, as well as amongst the other Beach Boys. Dennis was THE beach boy. Brian had thalassophobia, while Carl was fascinated with the ocean, but couldn't surf nonetheless.

On the behalf of just about every Beach Boys fan in the world, I wanted to say thanks for finding and posting this rare footage. There is SO little interview video of Brian Wilson from this time frame, as he was in the middle of feverishly writing and producing an amazing run of hits. It is a rarely-seen window into what was making him "tick" at the time.

@@draxlerchronicles5851 You've just given me an excuse to include my two cents worth. The three brothers really were good looking. One of the best photos ever taken of them was the group photo, on the inset of their "Beach Boys Concert" album, from 1964. It was taken by George Ingstead, a long time Hollywood professional photographer. They never looked better. I remember Carl, boyish and good looking (who had a beautiful voice, along with Brian), and the youngest of the Beach Boys, always seemed to epitomize the youthfulness of the group, while being the quieter and thoughtful one to Brian's complicated genius, and Dennis's hellraiser. All that seemed to vanish after Carl grew a beard. He went from youthful looking and boyish to older looking and very solemn. Something was just lost for me in the transition. The youngest one wound up advancing the much older look they all seemed to sport in the '70's. And, yes, I know Mike was the first one to grow a beard.

brian is one of those people who are not seemingly cocky or arrogant, but just, 'he knows that he knows' what he wants to do, and the way he wants to do it, the man with a plan, he doesn't need confidence, because he's already at peace with himself about his music, is he human, does he make mistakes? sure, but he's a great 'adjuster' of things, to work them to what he desires :) for brian, music is like sleeping, tieing your shoes, walk in the park, it was always other parts of his life where difficulty came in, I've had lot of indicators, and the guy just 'exudes' humility and love, I sure hope he's born again in Jesus, who the bible says IS love...........

you think you're 'clever', 'subtle', YOU'RE NOT, you're a LIAR, who makes up their own words, terms, euphemisms, and plays semantic word games, you're not fooling me.......I can say what ever I like, when ever, where ever, how ever, and there's nothing you or any one can do about it, whether you or anyone else agrees with it or not doesn't matter. You're just threatened by what I say, your issue is with the God of the universe, Jesus, not me. I share the gospel of Jesus, gospel means good news, I don't 'push' 'propaganda', the Word of God is truth, not propaganda, and YOU will be judged by the Word of God, Jesus IS the Word of God, and in eternity, you will stand before him, and he will be either your Saviour or Judge. So, you're as stupid, foolish to fight against God Almighty and you are, and will, God laughs. I hope it is God's will, plan and purpose to save you.

Best interview of the Beach Boys I've seen so far - at least from the 61-65 era. She asks some great questions and I love the flirting, especially when Dennis compliments her on her dress and she runs with the compliment and tells them a little about the dress she bought while he and Carl act genuinely interested and remain polite. What a great bunch of guys they were even at such a young age. Just when you think you couldn't love the BBs more than you do, a newly discovered piece of video makes you love them even more.

the beach boys were THE all west coast american group...in europe, back in the mid 1960`s, we saw them as typical american youths, handsome, healthy, wholesome (long before tales of drugs, alcohol addiction etc.)..surf loving...images of trendy cars, girls, beaches, sunshine, warmth, beach games, suntans, shiny teeth, friendly, harmony....they looked like typical television youngsters and we could identify with them, knowing all too well that our real world was often dull, grey, cold and grim....they represented a golden time on the west coast of america...their music recalls that glorious period and is uplifting, escapist, evocative and enduring.

Seeing Brian here feels so weird (in a pleasant kind of way) - I just can't bring myself to associate him with his post-60's self. It's like he's a completely different person. Thanks for sharing the interview.

I know this was posted 8 years ago, but what was his post 60's self like? I vaguely know he was fucked off on drugs, and his (ab)use was legendary on par with Keith Moon, but not much else.

I wish I had seen the Boys when they were in Tulsa. They were here at least 2 times in the 60's. They were here at least once in about 1984 at Skelly Stadium. :) I hope some more interviews like this surface on youtube. This stuff is great!!

Why does it have to _'surface'_ on "KZbin" ? There are plenty of other outlets where such material may be posted.

Totally amazing! Mike was actually pretty well behaved during this. As far as Ida...this clip goes to show that you didn't have to have much talent to be a host, or even pay attention to anything for that matter, at least back then. Thanks for sharing.

Watching them being interviewed around this time, you quickly realise that they were all just kids. Carl, for example, was only 17 at this time, and he certainly seemed like a 17 year old. Dennis, I think, was 19. But you look at that audience and the people who they played for, the Beach Boys appealed to people of all ages, and still do. There were some people out there who looked old enough to be their parents!

❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥. I love Dennis! Way underrated! And Love Brian - something about his looks, that smile 😍 and his voice and talent! I was too young to realize what these guys did when by the time I got old enough to listen - late 70’s. Did not ever realiE how great the original guys were back then or pay attention to who they were really - but I totally loved the MUSIC ALWAYS & spent many days of summer and all year enjoying them. Now days, it kills me that I didn’t pay attention. The utter talent and beauty of these guys - I’m overwhelmed with sadness as they are all gone now. Dennis, I feel very sad about - if only life took a different turn - I believe we missed out on many more songs he couldve written and produced. Gosh. His birthday is coming up… Dec 4th… so Dennis, Happy Birthday Handsome! I barely missed the thrill of you at a concert in 1985. 🥲. …by a several years there - would’ve been excellent. Didnlt even get to see Brian at the time as he was not touring anymore. That’s the breaks of being born after the 60’s I guess. Anyway - RIP - We love you. Still!!! . Happy heavenly Birthday Denny!
