I was part of the choir for this show, it was an amazing experience. Dave Grohl was on drums for all the rehearsals, so it was a surprise to everyone when Jason Bonham came out for the final performance. Also, this video has footage both from the dress rehearsal, and the live performance. After the show was over, Stephen Colbert came up to me and 2 of my fellow choir members to tell us that we did a great job, it was surreal. Choral arrangement was done by Rob Mathes, and our chorus director is Joyce Garrett. Our choir was also at Obama's inauguration, Bruce Springsteen Super Bowl, and every Christmas in Washington performance on TNT, until it was canceled. We were drawn from a lot of different sources around the DC area, including some former High School choirs after we all graduated, some church choirs, and eventually some University of Maryland choir members. We rehearsed every day including weekends for about 3 weeks for this, and for most of our performances

Jason Bonham, John Bonham's son is on drums. Jason kept it secret that he was going to be playing with Heart. So, Plant said it was very emotional to see him there. John Bonham signature look was the Bowler Hat that Jason and the choir is wearing.

Plant is even Jason Bonham's godfather, isn't he? This must've been awesome for all of them, since it was basically three guys seeing their late friend's son, who's like a nephew to them, step up and do his father proud and honor all of them in the most awesome way possible.

Heart KILLED this. I have seen it so many times and it is still just as thrilling as the first time. Thanks for reacting to this. This was a Led Zep tribute concert. That is John Bonham's drum set and his son Jason is playing it. Led Zep fully took Jason under their wings and made sure that they stayed connected throughout his being raised and paid for his education and anything he needed. Led Zep is a family and always has been. The hats worn by Jason and the choir are a tribute to John Bonham who often wore this type of hat. Yes Daniel should hear that While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Tribute to George Harrison. Harrison's son, Dhanni, plays guitar on this song. Prince, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood and some others. This was in 2012. There were four Zeppelin songs performed that night, covered by Kid Rock, Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz and Heart. That was Jason Bonham on drums. At the end, it is as though he looks up to acknowledge his dad. Very moving. Robert Plant is Jason’s God-father. It was Robert and his wife Maureen who had to go to Jason’s home to tell him his dad had died Jimmy, Robert and JPJ have known Jason since he was a baby.....They didn’t know that Jason would be there, so were surprised when he showed up onstage. Robert Plant was moved to tears for several reasons: Yes, because Jason was there. But you could see that he reacted differently from Jimmy and JPJ. Why? He was asked that question by an interviewer a few years ago. His response was, to paraphrase: I was thinking about how much had changed. How we were rebels and anti-establishment back then. What that song meant at the time, and how much everything had changed. And here I was, sitting here, in this place, with these people....the President.....and wondering “what in the hell am I doing here?” How did I get here?” The elder Plant (64 in 2012) looking back through the years and into an earlier, more innocent time....and wondering “what happened”? Those of us who are older can empathize with that feeling....time is so fleeting. Plant’ has often said that he thinks of Stairway as a song written by a 23 year old guy, in a particular time. And he thinks of it as a song of that time. And that that time has passed. So there is some sadness in his face...remembering the past. And his lost best friend.

Absolutely, beautifully written! It all goes way too fast, doesn't it? Robert also lost a child during those years, so I'm that may have entered his mind too, seeing Jason sitting there. 🥺😢😭❤

Excellent response. The contrast between Robert and Jimmy was so telling. I’m not saying Jimmy isn’t a deep thinker but he was like a kid living the joy of the moment. Appreciating the performance and the excellent musicians. Clearly the music transported Robert through 40 years of the past and back.

By the way......Jimmy gave Heart his blessing to cover any Zeppelin song they wished, because he heard them do some and knew that they could cover them better than anyone else. Ann Wilson’s voice is perfect to nail those high notes of Plant’s. Heart often did a Zeppelin song or two at the end of their concerts, and the crowd went nuts......because they NAILED it. Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne (Electric Light Orchestra), Steve Winwood (Spencer Davis Group,Traffic, Blind Faith and solo work) and Prince, along with George's son Dhani (who looks just like him) add up to a great tribute. It's worth it for Prince's guitar work alone.

This is an annual televised event celebrating the Arts. This was the 2012 ceremony. Obviously Jason Bonham on drums was special. Heart performed Stairway to Heaven in the 70s, and a recording was included in the reissue of their 2nd album. Guitarist Shane Fontayne played with a number of artists including touring with Bruce Springsteen. You must do Tracy Chapman "Fast Car" and Bonnie Raitt. ( I need to think about which song from Bonnie, who is a renowned guitarist)

Carole King was also inducted (sorry, different year) and the late Aretha Franklin destroyed the place. The artists being inducted don't know who will be performing nor what they will be playing until they see it. The current President is the person who gives out the honors, though I believe Trump has never attended. Ann is on vocals and Nancy on guitar. Heart used to play this I've in the 1970s minus the strings and choir and Ann would play the flute in the beginning. The choir are all in Bonzo's bowlers.

3 top takeaways: 3) Daniel and Dad realizing Bonham's son on drums. 2) Plant, Page, and JPJ realizing Bonham on drums. 1) Daniel and Dad picking perfect video again to do together.

Ann Wilson was in her early 60’s, from what I’ve read, and Nancy is 3-4 years younger.

Quoting Wikipedia, “The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual honor given to those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture. The Honors have been presented annually since 1978 , culminating each December in a star-studded gala celebrating the honorees in the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington DC.”

Thank you Deathstokes 8 & 9 for your great reaction to this magnificent performance of an all time Led Zeppelin classic! Zep were legendary but Heart is nothing to sneeze at either. Ann and Nancy were big fans of Zeppelin and covered many of their songs in concert. Do yourselves a favor and listen to "Battle of Evermore" by Heart, you will be astounded!

Good choice! This must have been a proud moment for Robert Plant as we can see in his face. Heart was one of the greatest bands who was inspired by them. Particularly Ann's vocals. So here she was now singing his lyrics with her awesome voice. I am so glad they were in attendance and we can see their reactions.

Thanks guys. Ear training is not just for musicians, anyone can benefit to some extent. I like your dad he seems like a pretty cool dude. After Lamb Lies Down album Maybe try Man-Erg by Van Der Graaf Generator or the entire Pawn Hearts album. It’s great prog rock from 1971. Thanks for all the great content. I hope they stop blocking the music, it’s not fair to you. I know you put a lot of time and effort into making quality reactions. Thanks.

I saw them live in 1978 in Wichita and they did Zeppelin's 'Rock and Roll' as an encore. I was blown away. No one, and I mean NO ONE, covers Zep better than Ann and Nancy Wilson. Check out their performance of 'Battle for Evermore' from their Live in Seattle show - it is on You Tube and well worth watching.

When the guitarist started ripping into the solo, this transcended being a tribute to Zep, and became an anthem to the spirit of Rock

So I saw Heart do this song live in Orange County. Killed it ❤ Nancy Wilson is a musical genius btw. She must've pulled out 50 different instruments and played them all with mastery during the concert. Ann is the queen 👑. I felt her holding back on this, too - guessing it was nerves. Yes, I watched this on tv, too. Occurs yearly and typically attended by our Pres.

Daniel: Guessing you're a Myers-Briggs INTJ. Welcome to the club. Regarding your comment about Pink Floyd at the end of this video: I'm 50ish and listen to the Dark Side of the Moon about 5 days a week, on average. So many layers, sounds, clips of people talking, tempo changes, lyrical depth, instruments, various musical genres entwined, and DG has a great voice. Don't know a word better than: Genius. I often will work with it in the background, and then Wish You Were Here, then Animals, then the Wall and then I have dinner, go to bed, and the next day do it all again.

The drummer, with the derby hat, is the son of the original drummer of Led Zeppelin(John Bonham) who died many years ago when the band was still active. His name is Jason Bonham, and he has played with the 3 remaining members of Led Zeppelin when they had their comeback concert.
