The two best songs CCR ever did were "Born on the Bayou," and "Suzi Q." They had many really good ones, but those two were on a different level. "I put a spell on you," gets honorable mention. It was pretty close as well. Thanks

You saved me the trouble of saying precisely that. I'm not sure this young man has even listened to Born On The Bayou, has he? I would probably rank *99 1/2 Won't Do* slightly ahead of *I Put A Spell On You* and then maybe *Green River* and *Fortunate Son.* The first two albums were fantastic. After that they "went commercial" and I lost thrill, but still...for a time...they were awesome...

It makes me feel good when I see young people liking this kind of music. Yes, it is a fun song. You should hear "keep on chooglin." CCR has always been one of my favorite bands. There were bands that made albums where one song took up one side. I thought they would do that but the closest they came to was "heard it through the grapevine.

The early days of stereo recording had alot of producers desperately trying to figure it out. Drums, bass and guitar in one ear and guitar and vocal in the other is so disjointed. Best heard through very powerful speakers, cranked up. It comes together a bit better. I love this and I'm thankful to have been a kid when it came out. So I got to hear it on the radio on a regular basis. My growing up music, soundtrack to my early life. Great one.

You need also to also get ahold of CCR'sl long version of their version of "Heard it through the Grape Vine," By the way the lead singer, John Fogerty's name is pronounced, "Foe-ger-tee." I heard that he's still singing his songs solo. You might want to Google him. He apparently was involved FOR YEARS in a legal battle where he apparently lost his rights to sing CCR songs even though he wrote them. He wasn't able to perform any of their hits and it was a very long and stressful battle in the courts for him. In the meantime, he had written other songs he did perform. I don't know when CCR desolved. Nevertheless, at his age, he uhas retained his voice. Thanks for sharing CCR as my brother and me (71+73 years old) are very long time fans of them, and sorry that John Fogerty had to go through what he did..but he finally won and is singing all the songs that he wrote again. One more thing, if you haven't checked them out already, please play one of my favorites called, "Mariah"(pronounced 'Mu-rie-uh') performed by "The Beaver Brown Band" circa; 70's( there are also other great songs they perform, and sometimes there style changes which goes to show you their versitility. Thanks again..as the song goes "I know that it's only rock and roll but I like it!!" (Mick Jagger) 🤗🙋🌹

Speaking of "Suzi Q", I reiterate the need to react to Suzi Quatro. Suzi is the first female bassist who fronted a rock band, setting the stage for the likes of Joan Jett, Debbie Harry (Blondie), Chrissy Hynde (the Pretenders), Heart, Pat Benatar, The Go Gos, etc. A worldwide rock star in the genres of punk/glam/hard rock, Suzi was known in the US (She's from Detroit) as Leather Tuscadero in the 1970s/80s sitcom, "Happy Days" and for a pop hit duet called "Stumblin' In". Suzi branched out into theater, TV and film and still performs in concerts at age 71, putting out new material written and produced by her son. She is a MUST react!

John Fogerty have written so many great so songs. So it's easy to forget, that Creedence also were great cover band. They really gave Dale Hawkins a treatment here. But even when they did things straight forward such as Roy Orbison's "Ooby Dooby" it was sure to give you a good time. John Fogerty was very much into the rock and roll of the 1950's. He once said, that he wish he could have been a sideman to Buddy Holly or Eddie Cochran. But what a great job he did as the frontman and main songwriter of Creedence! And later on too. Some of his solo output is just as good as Creedence. You should try to listen to his 1997 album "Blue Moon Swamp". Its very rarely I recommend anything to anybody from after the 70's. But this album is really something.

John's totally unique sound turned out to be such that he endured some legal/copyright issues later in his solo career from his former CCR bandmates. Thought I remember him saying once in an interview that one lawsuit claimed that his performing solo sounded 'too much like CCR'... that just seemed so ridiculous to me. Of course he's gonna sound like CCR...his voice was the backbone of their sound.

I'm seeing this video in late May 2022, but thought I'd comment anyway, FWIW. I always thought the effect you heard on the left side, 2nd verse, was achieved by singing into a megaphone. Perhaps my least favorite CCR song. It's all right enough, but it had already been covered to death by the time they released it. I like Fogerty songs by CCR much better than this one. That being said, it's an okay song and I don't turn off the radio when it comes on. The stories supposedly is that they recorded this to get played on a prog rock station. So, tactics for exposure, something you really can't criticize.
