When he played the guitar with his teeth, he lost a tooth! He never missed a beat. When he said thank you Charlie, he it was because Charlie came out and found the tooth for him.

SRV ~ 🎸🐐 THE goat of all goats Guitar change, one-handed, backwards, behind the back, with his teeth (and lost a tooth), epic speech...he did it all and that's why he's the goat. Imho. Admittedly, music is subjective, so it stands to reason that who the goat is is also subjective. To me, Stevie is the goat, but to someone else, it's Jimi, Or EC, or EVH, or Angus, or Buckethead, or Zak, etc, etc. Bottom line; enjoy your goat as I will enjoy mine. 😉 🤘🎸🐐

Well stated Jack Scott. No argument with your logic at all. Stevie “felt” music just as much as he played it. He took it to an exponentially different level. Sad to imagine the heights he, and so many of the other greats, could have created had they not left us so soon. Glad I had the opportunity to witness a few of his performances.

We all know he’s the greatest guitarist but his voice is beautiful. He changed guitars in order to play the white Strat that Charlie built for him, since this is the song Stevie wrote for him after his death. After losing his tooth Stevie says “Thank you Charlie” then kisses that beautiful guitar at the end. What a tragedy for him to finally get sober and then to die such a horrible death. RIP❤️‍🩹 SRV🎸

One of the lines of this song was actually included on his grave marker as a tribute to SRV because of what he shared with us through his music and demonstrated with a humble and selfless heart: "Thanks for all the love you passed our way."

He tried to re tune but he still wasn't satisfied. So he changed guitars. He has actually done this a lot during concerts usually because a string breaks. He was a fantastic brutal guitar player.

Stevie always played "Life Without You" with "Charley" the white strat named after Charley Wirs the man that gave him the guitar that the song is dedicated to. It's not clear why he started the song without Charley, but perhaps it was out of tune and that's what he was referring to when he mentioned having tuning problems. Perhaps they were on a schedule as the show was being recorded for video. Charley is a hardtail strat so it has less trouble staying in tune than a strat with a tremolo, but when you tune down a half step as Stevie did those new strings take a little longer to stretch to stay in tune. Anyway, just thinking out loud here.

@thisguy8916

@@robertjohnson1681 To clarify: Charley Wirz was SRV's guitar tech- & more-importantly- a major personal influence for Mr. Vaughan; right up there with his mentor: Albert King. Charley did indeed make that guitar for him, & Vaughan named it after Wirz & does use it when playing this song, which he dedicated to Mr. Wirz after his passing. It's a eulogy set to music.

Most live footage of this song he plays that white strat. Stevie had a name for all of his guitars such as No.1, Lenny, Scotch, and this one is Charlie. As a guitar studier, not player mind you, Charlie has a amazing signature sound of its own because of the lipstick pickups. It was built by a good friend of his named Charlie Wirz. Awesome song, always fun to watch.

Stevie Ray Vaughn is the greatest blues guitarists ever. Let’s just say it. He had no formal training but an ear for the sound that only he could hear. Beautiful version. He had a problem with alcohol and quit drinking. He wrote an acoustic guitar song, “Life by the Drop” about his alcohol addiction. Please check this one out.

I had a ticket to the Alpine Valley show, and wanted to see him sober and in full flight...and I had to work. The news came about the crash an hour before I left work, and those of us who were listening were sure it was Clapton who'd crashed, because who else was gonna helicopter out of the stadium. Truth be told, I'd rather it had been Clapton. Stevie left way too soon.

👏🙌‼️thanks for making my morning Daniel✌️💙 This is one of my favorite performances and never get tired of watching. He starts out with another guitar and tries tuning it but then looks for a switch. So when his tech came behind him they switched out and you never hear him miss a beat. Another song Stevie wrote that I love is "Ain't Gone 'N' Give Up On Love". My favorite version of that song is from this same performance. It is such a bluesy and soulful song. You will love it💙. Hopefully you will check it out one of these days🎶🎸🎶. I understand why you shrink the screen size but you used to collapse the top and bottom so only the video shows and not all the tabs and menus. It would help if you would collapse everything but the video. Thanks‼️

I grew up a few towns over from the Capital Theater in the '70's. I saw so many great concerts there in my high school years. It's all gone now. I'm glad I was able to enjoy it during it's hay day! Tickets ranged from $8-$15.

The first guitar was reddish I color or brown. Second guitar was white. He always used that guitar because he named it Charley after his friend Charley Wirz who was a mentor and helped Stevie in how he designed his guitars and who died of a heart attack. This guitar they both worked on. Stevie sobered up in the fall of 1986 at the same time as his bassist Tommy Shannon also his best friend. The country down south was South Africa during apartheid. Stevie after being sober would start by saying he thanked God he was well enough to be with everyone that night. Tommy Shannon always wanted people to know what a humble gentle generous soul he was even more than he wanted people to know him s a guitarist. Stevie helped bring many people to sobriety quietly. He was n amazing man.

🎶👍 For me the only question that can really be answered is "who is your favorite guitarist", not "who is the greatest guitarist". That topic will be debated forever always open to different opinions. Thanks for reacting to MY favorite guitarist. Different topic, some other reactors have been putting filters over the video and some not even showing the video. Whatever works is okay with me as most of us have either seen what you're viewing and know what's coming or can view it after if desired. Hope you venture into more of his work, and always do live viewings and maybe check out the studio stuff afterward. SRV "Mary Had A Little Lamb", yeah the nursery rhyme, live from Austin, is another to consider: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYi4Z5umha96lcU
