Y'know, despite the confusion in the final book, we gotta remember that this finale was in development hell for like 6-7 years, so I'll take it. Besides, it's still satisfying with great themes, twists, and the best art in the series. It kinda like a TV show ending like Gravity Falls. It does feel good to read and the ending still feels deserved. Other than that, I like this channel, really underrated.

Stated this in a comment on a previous video, but Kazu Kibuishi actually got amnesia between books 5 and 6 as well as having to deal with the murder of his own sister. If the series fell off, there’s a logical reason for that, I’m sure.

this ending is NOTHING like gravity’s falls in terms of quality. please do not compare the two

@Luenzsaolgcflor Terrible murder. Look up Daniel Wozniak murder. Although it did occur before most of the rest of the series was published, I’m sure it had a lasting impact on Kazu.

I couldn't help but feel... disappointed? Confused? With the series from the moment that they went "Oh yeah, you know how we're fighting the elves and the evil mind gas monsters? We have spaceships, and a whole space UN"

I definitely feel like this was a case of a writer being stuck between inspiration and continuity. He kept introducing so many new concepts every book while trying to keep older ones around but feeling rushed or out of nowhere. I can relate to enjoying just coming up with new inventive ideas and wanting to make it real (many of those later vistas and cities were breathtaking) but it did mean he had to constantly justify their existence and meant adding more and more elements to an already bloated story. And trying to justify why everything would turn space based and sci fi was a mistake once you remember the links to Earth were barely touched on and expanding this alternate world so much means earth barely had any significance until the very end when he suddenly remembered “oh yeah! Earth exists!” and rushes in the voice being a earth made creation that somehow exists in this world and there’s also robots somewhere that he works for. Again, I understand how it can get kinda hard to balance both sides of the creative process as it can be uninteresting just making generic fantasy. But it does lead to a story that feels like it didn’t really pay off what many put into it and especially one that took decades to end.

That went in a direction I was not expecting. They just wanted to end the series without having to write more books I guess.

I remember thinking from time to time “hey remember Amulet? Wonder how that ended…” crazy that its ending was so recent. If I had read this as a kid, I might have just been confused. There’s a LOT going on here.

Really enjoyed learning more about this series through your vids!! My only memory of amulet used to be of just skimming it a few times in my public library’s childrens book section as a (ofc) kid, never really gave it a chance but I feel you’ve taken us on quite the journey and I now feel I haven’t missed out. I enjoyed every vid! 👌

I understand the author was going through a bunch of stuff, hence why it took so long for the final book to come out, but that doesn't change the fact that this was a bad ending. Characters who have been around from the start just vanish from the story entirely, and whole plotlines are abandoned. New characters and factions are introduced that serve no purpose to anything. A ham-fisted message about environmentalism is thrown in at the last minute, for some reason. And all the interesting fantasy stuff is tossed to the side and replaced with a bunch of science-fiction stuff that does nothing but pad out the story and create a bunch of plot holes. It's bad. Like, really, really bad. And I cannot stress enough how much I dislike Gabilon. The guy keeping spouting off about how bad Stonekeepers are, while literally working for the most evil Stonekeeper in existence, and stealing hundreds, if nothing thousands of memories. He did nothing to earn being the new Elf King, and was a hypocrite throughout the whole story.

Dude, the art in these las5 few volumes we4e absolute peake, he just showed out for the finale. Also, am i the only one who was a le to follow the story? You said kibuishi was making things up as he went along and that towards the end nothing made sense, but i must be insane becuase i followed through. It didnt feel rushed or chaotic or didnt make sense to me at all. Maybe im just weird tho
