Did Arthur Morgan survive GUARMA?

Guys, the purpose of this video was for entertainment purposes. I understand that there is a great deal rebutting this theory. The idea was that Arthur imagined everything after the ship wreck, it was all in his mind. Please remember to take it as its intention. Entertainment.

Theory: "a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena." You should consider approaching the title more as a "What If?" concept rather than the commonly used theory format. It will save you negative feedback.

I think this theory doesn't hold up unless playing as John is included as Arthur's dream because charles specifically says that he found and buried Arthur. John inherits Arthur's hat, braithwaite broche (if player accepts it and doesn't sell as Arthur) that Penelope gives her and the ring which Arthur gave to mary and mary returned it in her last letter. John's dialogue changes whether player decided to return for the money or helped John escape, in the same mission John also mentions Arthur's illnes to charles.

I reckon since almost drowning Arthur had acute tuberculosis pneumonia and that's why he only lasted months. Then again I doubt anybody thought too deeply about it and it's probably just video game mechanics

The events on Guarma do stretch credibility somewhat, but I think that's more down to Rockstar having to heavily scale back Chapter 5 for the sake of pacing/bloat. My understanding is that Guarma was originally meant to be significantly more expansive and explorable, comparable in length to the previous chapters... My own personal theory about it is that the original plan was to have them wash up in Mexico, and make their way back via New Austin. My guess is that the intention was to have the initial cracks in the gang appear during this Chapter, with Javier and Bill cutting loose and going their separate ways, leaving Dutch, Arthur and Micah to try and get past the Pinkertons and bounty hunters patrolling Tall Trees and the Great Plains... It would explain all the unused Mexico assets and Arthur's voice work and journal entries for New Austin etc.

What if Arthur was saved by The Strange Man? He reunites Arthur with the rest of the gang and helps them to escape guarma only for Arthur to redeem himself and get a peaceful meaningful death

I think he actually died during the black water job. While he was not there, he was ambushed and killed

This reminds me of a popular theory regarding The Sopranos. I can’t say I buy either, the Sopranos one does hold more water. My counterpoints would be: 1. In general, it isn’t fair to point to convenience or plot holes post-Guarma and ignore the same issues pre-Guarma of which there are just as many. It’s a great narrative, but it isn’t perfectly tight at all. 2. What about Charles’ comments to John about burying Arthur? Doesn’t fit if he died on Guarma. Or John’s motivation for wanting to avenge Arthur for that matter. Arthur helping John doesn’t really kick in until post-Guarma, 90% of it. 3. The existence of Arthur’s grave location. 4. John can visit Charlotte, Hamish and others Arthur doesn’t interact with until after Guarma and they will remember Arthur. That’s just off the top of my head. There’s others that come to mind but I can anticipate logic stretches to argue against them, not thinking of any for the points I stated above. Ps: I’m a much bigger fan of my own theory (I assume it’s mine, haven’t seen it elsewhere), that the epilogue of RDR1 is a fantasy. Still fun food for thought. I’m a big Twin Peaks fan so “getting dreamy” I highly encourage.

Interesting at first, but too many holes and too easy to debunk if you think things through for a few seconds. Very likely not an intended thing, plus "all in the protagonist's miiinndddd" is a joke in fan theory communities for a reason.
