Monica/Captain Marvel was the leader of the Avengers when I started reading comics in the early 80s. I don't collect Legends (I'm more DC than Marvel), but I can't believe it's taken them this long to bring her out. I get that they've been pushing Carol the past few years, but still. She was an Avengers leader and the first to carry the name after Mar-Vel died.

Monica Rambeau was Captain Marvel when I started reading comics in the 80s, and she's absolutely essential to the Marvel Legends line to complete the Avengers lineup.

I love a lot of these reveals such as Aunt May, Banner, the Destroyer, and Captain Marvel. My problem is too many two packs! There’s always a character I’m lukewarm on packed with a character I really want.

Modern Falcon (When he's not wearing a Captain America costume.) Maybe they could do something with Immortal Hulk or Starship Hulk. The new Punisher with Hand powers. Bucky as the Man on the Wall, Nick Fury as the Unseen. Clea as Sorcerer Supreme. Edit: But WITH BAF pieces.

They got me with all the Ben Reilly and Spider-Man Family stuff! Illuminati Super-Skrull and Skrull Queen, Elektra, backwards compatable bendable tentacles, 90s Avengers: Sersi, Black Knight, Skycycle and Hawkeye, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner, The Destroyer, OG Super Adaptoid...HUZZAH!!! I'm guessing the HasLab will be the different identities of Hank Pym with possibly Bill Foster thrown in or Quinjet. The Grey Hulk looks more Todd Mcfarlane's run than Jack Kirby. I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a deluxe package of Kang's Time Chair with a removable force/time field and either a Rama-Tut or Scarlet Centurion exclusive figure.

I'm down for most of those Avengers if the prices aren't outrageous. I think with Spider-Man at this point they could get away with a mostly civilian wave with Flash, Norman Osborn, Aunt May, Robbie, Betty Brant and whatever other goofy Spidey variants they want.

A lot of black & red in that Spidey Wave. The Rose jacket is longer than the other suited figs. Rose & Tarantula are my only interest. Maybe the 80th Tony head can fit better on this 1st app Ironman. Lovin all of the Avengers reveals especially that Hawkeye , Ironman, Black Widow, Hulk & Captain Marvel II. I’m all on board to finish that Secret Wars Roster! That Super Adaptoid looks like they used the 12” Cap from a few yrs ago. Classic Mockingbird is overdue. I feel Giant Man is on the way! Wasp is missing and I can see Barton Goliath reveal. I’m real excited for this Avengers roll out and what’s to come!

I guess that makes sense if they're not gonna sculpt a blank body for him although that would have made for easier reuse for giant characters. I thought Rose's jacket was too long! Great stuff revealed. I was getting a bit discouraged when I saw the Spidey wave but perked up a lot when I saw the Avengers stuff. Glad we're finally getting Sersi and Monica. Those have been two of my wants. I hope the Avengers announcements aren't over yet because I still want classic Swordsman, Mantis, and Stafox (do I dare wish for Dr. Druid). I'm really hoping it's Giant-Man for the Haslab. I've passed on all of them so far but this would be where my willpower goes away. Would love to also see a Clint Barton Goliath but I think that would be more likely as a deluxe fig if they did it at all.

The Spidey stuff did little for me, but the avengers more than made up for it. Don’t give up hope as I’m pulling for Dr. Druid too. Definitely rooting for Giant Man though I’m torn as to which version of super sized Hank I want. Maybe the blue and yellow Goliath look? I the Super Adaptoid has me excited about Hasbro working in more giant size figures again. Clint Goliath would work just fine in that format.

What a fantastic video Lyle. I love this subject and would be willing to watch more videos about this topic. As a comic book figure collector I could not have been more pleased with the announcements Hasbro made on their upcoming products. Despite having a few objections to some of the design choices, this isn't anything new for someone collecting Hasbro products, I believe that the ML team did a great job. I watched the podcast and did not see anything about Luke Cage. This was the only indiscretion worth noting regarding yesterday's news.

For me the Super Adaptoid looks weirdly scaled. The reason the Super Adaptoid is so detailed is because they're using the body of the 12" Captain America from 2016

@LMF Figure Files About 2 years ago they did a reboot of DD's comic. Elektra and Stix tried to recruit Matt to join them and start up this group called, *the FIST✊️* so they could take down *the HAND✋️* once and for all. Matt was arrested and in jail at that time and he was like, "I love you, but he'll nah! You's crazy with all that killing sh*t." So in order for her to persuade Matt that she really wants him and has changed her ways, she donned a new DD suit to help Matt patrol Hell's Kitchen while he was locked up.

I was hoping that Aunt May and Doc Ock were going to be released as single retro card figures, like Scorpion, Rhino and Black Cat. But instead they're being released in that retro VHS box set style packaging, which I don't really care for much. And it pains me that I have to buy both 2-Packs to just get Destroyer and Bruce Banner, I might buy them later on eBay or just let them go? Black Widow is the only one that I'm sure of getting without any gripes.

What they showed today looked pretty good but there was very little shown that I feel I NEED to buy and even in those cases the figures I need are in 2 packs with figures I don't need/care about. Only two names came off my list of 50 missing Marvel Legends, Super Adaptoid & Rose. Lots of improvements to existing characters and they look great but they're easy passes for me personally.

That Spidey wave is largely a miss aside from Miles, Doc Ock, and Aunt May unless there is a BAF that changes my mind. Where my wallet will cry is the Avengers cause I'm down for everything but the Skrull 2 pack and Superadaptiod. I really hope we get a Bill Foster. This really got me excited for Marvel Legends again, cause I was ready give up on Hasbro. I hope they reuse that afro on a retro Misty Knight with her bestie Colleen Wing to go with her boo and Luke Cage.

I liked it, but wasn't excited because of the leaks (giving Req 💐) I'm in the same pick and choose situation now and before. I pretty much know who I am and not buying just from the leak list. I would say this year Hasbro has done a good job overall with character selection from classic characters, modern, fist timers and updating characters I think the backlash of price will still run some fans off. I'm more excited about figures that may come just from some of these reveals and ones earlier this years. -Black Knight & Sersi = Exodus or Crystal with jacket -Franklin and Valeria = Victorious -Doctor Doom & Capt Marvel = Titania or Volcana So many more possibilities that's what has my brain going 24/7 that plus now that everything from the leak list has been announced what's next will be a surprise 😲 I hope that's not all the accessories for Super A, I would hope he has the Wasp wings and a Bow but that's just me. I also have to agree with you on them dropping the ball with the Skrull 2pack could've been a easy army builder set

I really think they could do a better job with Adaptiod he seems to big , I really want the Adaptiod , and I definitely need a new Trantula, you can use the MCU Zemo head for the rose , the Doc Ock animated body could be used for EggHead as that suit match’s or close to his comic book Armor it’s just not as fat as he should be.

The two pack with doom was a missed opportunity to sell some carded from bout army builders en masse. That Miles Morales figure has me really on the fence. this new doc oc makes me think the one they forced into the Silk two pack was just a cash grab. That new bucky cap was a whole troll flex. And a clever one at that!

I never thought I’d live to see an official ML of Sersi in red and black. That’s a grail along with Crystal in the white and black. Hopefully we have a few Crystals in the pipeline. It’s about freaking time for Monica. Everything else was kind of “meh” to me character/costume wise, but the figures themselves look great. They royally screwed Tarantula with that blue mask, though.

Very promising to see more of a commitment to comics-accurate assortments, and going all-in on the Avengers to boot. Even if that Thor body is a bit iffy, having the Simonson bearded head opens up a world of possibilities. Plus that Destroyer is awe-inspiring. Monica looks TREMENDOUS! It the figure as presented truly, accurately transfers to retail, I'd say she was worth the wait. Same for '90s Sersi! While I'm still holding out for that classic green bodysuit, they absolutely nailed her bomber jacket look. Black Knight... yikes, not so much. Head sculpt is straight up trash. It makes me wish Hasbro would just give up on trying to render ANY character with that angry/yelling face. They always look dopey as hell. Even when it makes some kind of sense for the character, it leaves you wishing they'd just gone with a more neutral expression. This head sculpt for BK in the Cull Obsidian wave had the same issue, so it's like recreating a problem rather than giving us options to get creative with head swaps. The bent lightsab--ah, photon sword for the display version does not bode well for retail consumption. Really disappointing all around and a miss for a character I was super anticipating. I don't know why Hasbro just can't seem to get Dane quite right. I really just hope there are some additional head sculpts yet to be revealed. If these figures are going to cost as much as they do, that's such an easy way of adding value. Interchangeable (backwards compatible?) parts, like in the case of Doc Ock's tentacles, is another feature I've been beating the drum to see more of. Whenever I picture the Rose in my head, it's the series III trading card without fail. It popped me when you threw that up! Anyway, great run-down as always. Your Marvel Legends coverage is in a class by itself.

I need both of their attires although now I’m wondering which direction they’ll go with Crystal first now: Inhumans or Avengers? I really wish they would’ve just swapped that portrait for Dane. The winged helmet sculpt is excellent…with the exception of the wings (womp womp). I’m hopeful alternate head sculpts become a thing especially given the expressions used with some of the figures.

It's funny how Sersi and Crystal have the same dilemma: original, iconic looks that are must-haves, but competing with great redesigns during their time in the Avengers. I’m very cold to the Spider-Man wave. Only tarantula gets my attention. Aunt may missed the mark imo. There’s a lot to unpack with avengers stuff. I do feel there are some great offerings but I’ve got a bad feeling we will see Hasbro’s crazy prices again, especially with the Hulk and destroyer packs. Im doubting widow will be a good price either. I was disappointed in the black Knight/Sersi pack, I didn’t want the laser sword version of Dane. Bucky cap is one I need since I sold off my old one. Super adaptiod is an easy pass like I thought it would be. Haslabs leave me cold anyway but I’ll check it out.

Great video, Lyle. I'm excited for Tarantula (in spite of the blue?!? mask) and not much else from Spidey. If they could make those posable tentacles available outside of what I am sure will be at least a $60 box set, I'd be thrilled. That's my gripe with the Avengers announcements, each set has half of something I really want and half I'm not interested in. If these are going to be seeing retail releases, I'll likely pick them all up at a discount when they move to the sale racks mid November to make way for the final wave of the year for Christmas. If these are fan channel exclusives, I can't see myself getting too many of them, outside of Doom/Capt Marvel, Hawkeye, and Sersi/Black Knight. I hope we get another wave or two this year with some more villains and another wave of X-men or a cosmic wave. I really enjoy your viewpoint and would love to find a way to collaborate on something in the future, if you're ever looking for a guest collaborator. Until then, Make Mine Marvel!!

I agree with you by and large, Jeffrey! This is the best rollout that Hasbro's put forth in a long, long time! That said, I think that there are a few things to nitpick. With the Rose, his suit jacket doesn't have that V-shape that makes a suit jacket look so good. His shoulders and waist look to be the same width, which makes him look like he's really thin with a longer waist. Simply put: He needs wider shoulders and/or a more narrow waist to pull off the suit jacket look he has in the comics. I can live with the sunglasses, but I agree with you that his first look works better. I'm not a fan of that Aunt May. Not at all. That's not the Aunt May that I no and love, and I'm not into the muscular look of Doc Ock, and the colors seem very "toy like." I have a good Doc Ock, so I really don't need another version. The tentacles alone isn't enough for me to buy this. The 2-pack with this Aunt May and Doc Ock is an easy pass with me. With the Avengers wave....We're getting retro versions of Antman coming, and now Iron Man. Could an original costumed Wasp be far away?? I LOVE the Hulk/Banner 2-pack! My favorite thing that they revealed!! It's a MUST HAVE for yours truly! I can't say enough good things about it! I do wish that it had more of a Jack Kirby look to it, but I like the head sculpt that we're getting. It's fine. I love the head sculpt on Thor, but he still has that tiny choad Mjolnir, which I absolutely don't like. The handle is just ridiculously small, and not like the vintage comic hammers. Thor's eyes are intense in a John Buscema kind of way. I wish the clean-faced version had that kind of intensity around the eyes, because that's what the 80th Anniversary Thor is missing. Hawkeye looks great! No complaints! I sure hope that we get classic Mocking Bird! That would be great! Captain Marvel/Photon!!! You KNOW that I'm happy to get her!! Alongside the Hulk/Banner pack, she's tops on the list! I'm indifferent about the SECRET WARS Doctor Doom, but I love that it's coming. Another Doom head sculpt would be good. I don't really need the Black Knight/Sersi two-pack, but they'd be nice to have! I have the other Black Knight that came before, and I like that look better than the '90s Jacket look. Remember how everyone in the '90s in comics sort of looked the same? Stubbly bearded, teams with matching bomber jackets, ponytails, trenchcoats, etc, etc. lol. Wolverine/gambit/punisher all rolled into one with shoulder pads! hehe. Ah, the '90s comics. The Black Widow looks to be another MUST HAVE! 'Nuff said! Bucky Cap? I don't need it. At all. Not interested in Bucky Cap. I honestly don't need a Bucky anything. Instead, I want a classic '80s Falcon figure withe the original mask, white shins, the vest, etc. Skrull set is nice, for the Spider-Woman alone. Would have preferred the army builders instead. Super Adaptoid. Hmmm. Not sold on it. I'm NOT fond of the modern details. I'm really not. That's my primary issue with Hasbro doing "classic" or "retro" stuff--it's never truly either. It's always with a twist of the modern, and I don't dig it. If it's classic, make it classic, or don't bother. That's just how I feel about it. This is a miss for me, and an easy pass. I'm pretty impressed though. Hasbro seems to have good stuff awaiting us this year, so I am excited. I just don't want to have to chase down exclusives that sell out in 15 minutes or less. That's really messing with my sanity. lol.

I'm so with you on this classic-y with a modern twist. That doesn't satisfy fans of either take. Just go all out with one version and you've got an easy double dip from other collectors. I can only scoff at the 90s stuff so much LOL. I just grabbed The Crossing and The Gathering Epic Collections so I'm all for more of these 90s Avengers. This was definitely the best-looking Legends stuff I've seen in a while. The Ben Reilly is weak and should have just been Superior Spider-Man, and that's coming from someone who doesn't like Superior Spider-Man. Chasm is fine, not interested in it but it's fine. The New Miles is lame and a terrible costume. Spider-Woman looks good, but it's not the costume I like, and I'll get to that later. Daredevil Elektra looks cool, and I'll probably get her. Tarantula looks good, I'll get him on clearance as he's never been a favorite of mine and my Villain Shelf is getting packed. The Blue Mask looks wrong. The Rose looks good and definitely getting him. An alternate head would be cool just for the hell of it. I want the Aunt May, but I don't give a crap about the Animated Doc Ock. Never cared for that design and I gave my classic Ock wired bendy tentacles. Aunt May need an alternate smiling head. Mk.1 Iron Man looked really great, but he's not a must have. I'll get him if I see him in the wild and the mood strikes me. The Bruce and Grey Hulk is a must have for me. I'm in on Comic Hulk stuff every time. I NEED Destroyer but could not care less for that Thor. Just not my style. Thankfully a friend of mine said he only wants the Thor and not Destroyer so I've got that figured out already. Hawkeye is an instant buy, love him. Only issues are the Bow and Quiver. The Bow feels off and I hate that they are still using that old ass MCU Quiver. They made 2 new ones for the Disney+ Clint and Kate, why not use them? The Doom and Monica 2 pack is an easy pass for me. Fine looking figures, I just don't have any attachment to these versions of them. I only really want the Sersi from that 2 pack, but just so I can make a custom of Sin to go with my Crossbones custom. That Widow was amazing and might be the best thing they showed. 100% getting her. Bucky Cap looked good, but not a needed figure for me. The Skrull 2 pack is weak and I'm only interested in the Skrull Queen IF she comes with a non skrull head. But yeah it should have just been another Super Skrull. Don't care about the Super Adaptoid, and I don't like that THIS is the figure they decided to bring back 12 inch figures. Make Giant Man, Goliath (Hank and Bill) Atlas etc. A lot of people I know want the Super Adaptoid, but they should use characters more people want that are easy sells. For an Avengers Haslab? Fin Fang Foom, maybe a Quinjet. I don't want a 400-500 dollar 30 inch tall Giant Man. I just don't feel like that's a good sell. Plus, what would the stretch goals be? Yellowjacket? Classic Wasp? West Coast Avengers Hank? Wasp Hank? the Ultron/Hank amalgam?

I will take any versions of Hank except his Wasp version and that goofy Ultron version. Ugh. And I think going with Giant Man could allow Hasbro to reel the price in for the HasLab. There's zero indication they'd go lower, but it'd be a good way to restore confidence in the HasLabs and sell more with a $200-range Goliath/Giant Man with Wasp, Hank red jumpsuit, Yellowjacket tiers. I do wish Hawkeye's various figures could get different bows. Shouldn't be too much to ask for.

And a much lower prices Haslab would be good at this point, I don't think a 30 inch Giant-Man is really worth getting when a 12 inch one would be way better and no way I'd ever spend over $100 for a 12 Marvel Legends. I feel like Fin Fang Foom is really the only huge sized characters they can do that enough people would want that warrants the Haslab price and needed backers. Everything else at that scale would struggle to get 1000 backers I think.

I understand why older collectors want to see the OG versions of characters but at this point the age range of most collectors and the business plan to bring in younger collectors to keep the line going doesn’t really line up so it’s best to show figures younger collectors will be more familiar with, classic looks should be alternatives not front and centre

I think the problem is younger collectors aren't coming and that's more a fault of the comics not being able to compete with other media and constantly cycling through costumes, reboots and character changes that prevent the long-term following of previous generations. The reliable and bankable market remains the older collectors.

This live was so good I’m ready to buy a lot of the items they showed. I’m not supporting the HasLab. That is one part of the fandom I’m no longer supporting. I hope it doesn’t get funded or that Hasbro stops haslabs completely. I’m tired of this never ending debate about the price and value paint pins it’s so exhausting. I’m not buying a giant man what would I do it? What would you do with a jet? Can you imagine the shit storm that’s going to rain down when they say what the price is? 24.99 is too expensive, 31.99 is too expensive. 38.99 is too expensive. 79.99 is too expensive. So do people really want to invest in a HasLab that could be 300$ or more? I don’t understand the logic of toy fans. The hell charger is 350 two vehicle modes 5 figures. The Eternia play set is 500$ two figures plus shipping 50$ some places it was 100$ for shipping it gets funded in days. Recently the thunder machine came out 450$ no working treads no lights or led’s, ZERO figures no paint or wash on the tank and everyone who has reviewed thinks it “amazing.” How could there be so much talk about price and value when clearly Hasbro offered the most out of these 3 options. So hopefully it doesn’t get funded because. I’m going to see how the fandom spins their negative rhetoric to justify paying for this years HasLab when last years was “overpriced.”
