I also have the gen 1 solid black marins from last year's black friday edition. I only wear them casually so they're obviously still in superb shape.

Blue collar railroad railcar mechanic here. I like Brunts. They srent the best quality but they get the job done. I cant speak to this pair in particular, but I've tried some of the other boots Brunt offers and I have not been disappointed. To be fair, in my line of work we go through boots relatively quickly, even higher end Red Wings hardly last a year- to us boots are disposable regardless of brand. Thats why I like Brunts, because they're pretty cheap, they're extremely comfortable and I dont expect them to last a lifetime like most people expect out of their boots. In my experience, my under $200 Brunts have lasted much longer and been more comfortable than my $400 Red Wings

@casonbaumgartner81892 ай бұрын
Brunts are very common at my job, we do asphalt construction and it's tough on boots especially the heat. The soles on brunts seem to hold up to the heat. But the soles kinda like to delaminate after being exposed to the elements and release agents we put on our boots to clean them (diesel). I use Cofras and they seem to hold up for about 2 seasons/12 months. Which is about the same luck other guys are getting with the brunts. I was wondering if you could do a paving boot showdown between the two and possibly other brands. I know redwing had a model and there is another European brand called shutz that some guys are having great luck with

I believe Thorogood clicks and lasts their boots here in the USA, but would not be surprised if brunt is really trying to get away with a lot. There are regulations regarding wording and qualified vs unqualified statements. My dad just bought a pair of direct moulded Thorogoods last month that are MADE IN THE USA WITH AMERICAN MATERIALS. That means Thorogood clicks and lasts boots here. Brunts may not get much attention and is trying to get away with more because of it, it's clear that most of the components are the same as their imports.

The uppers are stitched together elsewhere in the USA, then they are stitching the welt to the upper in house, and gluing on the outsole. It’s as minimally produced in the USA as is allowed according to the department of labor, to be able to stitch an American flag on the boots and claim made in USA.

Seems like it would be a good idea since veg tan tends to be so dry, and might help them break in faster?
