I enjoyed this album from top to bottom. It was a phenomenal listen and very inspiring. Com & Pete confirmed they are working on vol 2. It would be crazy if they were to get CL Smooth to do a guest feature, and while they are at it,grab Rakim for a guest spot.
@msimelelo12904 ай бұрын
Highly unlikely we'll see a C.L. Smooth and Rakim features. I'd expect Black Thought, maybe another surprise MC feature like Posdnous. They did a show with Method Man, Freeway, Redman and Black Thought recently so maybe another one of them may feature. But Common's been having little MC features on his albums for a while now, I wouldn't count on it. But yeah, the album is amazing top to bottom. It's a privilege to experience it.

That was a very sound review, my friend. I must start by paying homage to the incredible Pete Rock for his beautiful production on this album; which features some of the most beautiful, nostalgic-sounding, and high-quality hip-hop beats I’ve heard in a while. That evoke a deep connection with the genre that has captivated generations. These exquisite compositions really strike a chord with me, taking me back to my younger days in the 90s when I first fell in love with the genre. Many people believe that you need to rap fast and aggressively to gain attention and make cats f**k wid you, but Common defies that notion with this project. The Auditorium Vol. 1, doesn't rely on flashy flows or catchy/ commercial hooks; instead, he delivers straightforward and impactful verses. The true magic of this album lies in Common's poignant flows and profound lyrics. Throughout the project, he doesn't waste his words on superficial or fake tough-guy bravado; instead, he focuses on themes of resilience, life lessons, and celebrating black excellence!✊🏾💥👊🏾 I will give Auditorium, Vol. 1 a solid *Four and a Half Mics!..* ..4️⃣🔥🎤🎤🎤🎤1/2

The production on this album was just so good. never been a common fan like that tbh though. I feel like some of his bars are like what AI would spit out of you asked it to create a "conscious rap" song. (Always kinda felt that way and I know ppl that would kill me for that take but sometimes his style is just too predictable for me .) all that said, common did do his thing as far as coming with what he's best at. He threw some gems in there and had some slick bars sprinkled throughout as to be expected from a hip hop legend of commons stature. he did not disappoint me in any way other than just still not being my favorite emcee in general. it was the production that carried this project for me.save maybe some lulls in the album sequencing like you stated. Even being less of a common fan than a lot of other old heads, I still gotta say this album is gonna get a ton of replay for me for the foreseeable future. it was an easy 4 mics for me and makes me especially anxious for the next project Pete rock touches if he's in his bag like this these days

With it definitely being in the discussion for top album’s of the year. Most of my homies I’ve talked with about the album so far too. We all for the most part agree that having one more harder and or banger type tracks where we get more of that battle rap type Common and maybe at least one or two more harder boom-bap type beats from Pete Rock would make it a classic. Ten seconds after So Many People started playing I restarted it, then a few more times. I couldn't get over the beauty of Bilal's vocals layered over another like that. It reminded me of D'Angelo/early 2000s neo-soul/Chicago Kid's Letter To You. Now, one cannot possibly go wrong with that. The album is fantastic. I listened to it multiple times the day it dropped, and went back to it multiple times over the weekend. 4 to 4 1/2 mics is very fair. Probably depends on the day. There are no skippables, everything is just so tight and on point. Not to mention it's hip hop as we love it. It actually reminded me of Skyzoo and Pete Rock's Retropolitan. It feels like an homage to 90s rap. So glad they had Posdnous on here, he always delivers. When the sun shines is definitely close, but then there are 2 more duds after it. They should have closed the album with something better out of the last 2 songs. Though it still needed another good joint to end out with regardless, imagine if they didn’t release all kind of ideas as a single before the album dropped. And then you heard it on release. Different impact. When you buy albums as after hearing singles, you’re looking for what’s in the album that bangs. It needed one more song of the last 2 that feel like a Pete rock joint. I think its a shame the vids from the album don't have that many views, not even close to half a million while hot garbage gets millions of views.

💯 It's nice album and is what I expected an album from Common and Pete rock to sound like ... But hit boy delivered Nas with a range of styles that kept you interested and more engaged and just flowed better as an overall album.

half the beats are uninspired and missing that Pete Rock magic(classic hiphop and James brown vocal samples). The first 2 singles are what the album should've been. Instead we got "Dreamin'". Some of the sung choruses are cringe and embarassing. It feels more like a Neo Soul Talib Kweli joint than a return to that real hiphop we were sold on. "Chi Town Story", "Wise Up", "we're on our way" , "everything's so grand" are stand outs.I give it a 6 out of 10 and i think i'm being polite. i think people are wrapped up in the hype or too scared to talk down on it. I've talked to a few people who are underwhelmed by it but you'd never guess from their social media praise. I hope Common and PR come harder for vol 2.

@hip-hophistorybuff Just for fun I made a 5 mic edit and new sequence of the album. 1.Stellar 2.Chi Town Story 3.We're on Our Way 4.Wise Up 5. Lonesome 6.All Kinds of ideas 7.Everything is Grand 8.Tryin' 9.This Man what do you think?

@@scienz Did you mean to say “Dreamin” instead of “Tryin?” Other than that looks good
@scienz4 ай бұрын
@hip-hophistorybuff that was intentional. "Tryin'" was a great song. It had that true Pete Rock sound and it was used to promote the album but it didn't make the final cut. I kept it all the way hiphop in my edit. Dreamin' didn't make my final cut lol

I’m sorry, but as much as a fan I am (since late 90’s) I think the album is nothing more than ok. I don’t really like Fortunate, So Many People has an awful chorus. Too much God-talk. Several tracks are quite decent though. I like Wise Up the most. I’d give the album a 5.9 out of 10. Looking forward to volume two

7/10 , a bit disappointing after the first 3 singles were very good. Not enough bangers and to much crappy singing on the hooks
