It’s fascinating how ancient stories like the Epic of Gilgamesh and Noah’s Ark share such striking similarities! This really shows how myths evolved through cultural exchanges, especially during major historical events like the Babylonian Exile. Exploring these connections definitely challenges how we view the origins of these stories and opens up a deeper understanding of how ancient civilizations influenced one another.

Very timely video considering the dust up after the recent Billy Carson/Wes Huff debate. I get it how such can lead people to pick a side and even double down but the greater point is the opportunity it presents to have a bigger and deeper conversation such as the intent of this video. Well done.

I can't believe I am 39 years old and still have no clue about the Bible or any other ancient texts. I find this stuff so fascinating. I know I'll never be a biblical scholar but I am definitely going to try and understand as much as possible. I went to church often as a kid and my grandmother was able to recite pages of the Bible when she was eventually at the point of being legally blind. She had her rosemary beads that she used to pray with a few times a day. She went to church every Sunday and every other holy day and always sat in the front row and center. She started reading the Bible and going to church every week when she was a young teenage girl. She grew up in a small village in the mountains and met my grandfather who was in the village nearby. I still own the house that where my grandfather was raised but unfortunately my aunt sold the house that her mother my Yia Yia was raised. Regardless we still visit the villages and I maintain my house. (Barely it's got no running water or lights) but it's got a nice slate roof that we replaced about 15 years ago. My grandparents would meet halfway where they would get water from the little stream. They lived lives that were so much different from ours. My grandmother passed away about 17 years ago and she lived to be 98, my grandfather "PaPo" lived to be 93 and he passed much earlier than she did. He was older than her by maybe 5 years or so. Although I still struggle to pray to Jesus Christ I do pray and believe in God. I am trying to find out as much as I can about Jesus through listening to legitimate scholars and also not being biased towards atheists, people who believe in Jesus Christ and those who are similar to me who believe in God but haven't really had any experience in Jesus. I am extremely grateful for the faith that I have that I believe came naturally but was strengthened by my Grandmothers faith and the story of her life. I was raised Greek Orthodox and I have obviously learned some of the teachings and practices but my father just passed away a month ago today and I have had some powerful experiences in the past few weeks, especially the first week. Anyways I am just on a rambling tangent at this point but I hope that whoever is reading this or even the person who doesn't, I hope that you are healthy, happy and spiritually wealthy. For the person who is reading this I hope that you know that you are loved and that you have the ability to make the best life for yourself and your family. God bless 🙏 For those who have never heard of "Yai yai" and "PaPo" it's how we say grandma and grandpa in Greek. I know I left out where they were born and raised until they came here to let my aunt, uncle and father be born to have citizenship and then went back to Greece until they were in their 20s and all came here together including my grandparents. My grandmother was a smart woman and she raised some great children who are now grandparents.

After studying Ancient History, and the Bible, and the Babylonian captivity when I was young. I knew this was what made sense. Then Zecharia Sitchin's translations of the Mesopotamian texts tied it all together for me. Thank you for giving me a short video explanation I can share with my friends on FaceBook. Most of them believe that the Bible is a perfect book and never question it. I have questioned it since I was in the 6th grade.

The Noah's Ark story is also found inside the Quran and is virtually identical to the Bible version. Betraying how both the Bible and the Quran were inspired by the same enlightened teachers, the same prophets, and the same source of ancient wisdom. Indeed Noah is a very famous profit within the Islamic faith, also known as "Nuh", the first messenger of God. I never cease to be pleasantly amazed by the breadth of knowledge demonstrated by this channel, thank you, and keep up the brilliant work!

Genesis and the *Epic of Gilgamesh* share similarities, particularly in flood narratives, but Genesis reflects a monotheistic worldview emphasizing God's covenant and moral judgment, contrasting with Gilgamesh's polytheistic mythology.

@@blackhawk7r221 Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” This was written well before any Babylonian influence, which is not to say all Hebrews adhered to this belief. Many obviously did not.

@@enigmoxical One cannot say that a Hebrew work was written before Babylonian influence when NOTHING Hebrew was recorded earlier than 700 BC. Then there’s that whole inconvenience of another culture describing and recording (in cuneiform) the weird beliefs of the Hebrews centuries before the Hebrews ever wrote anything. Even Moses had to convince his own Hebrew people that there was one god, and they certainly went back to polytheism as soon as this one man walked away for a while. Using the Torah/Bible as a historic reference is myopic since it didn’t come about until many centuries later.

@@blackhawk7r221 Archaeologists recently found a tiny Hebrew tablet at Mt. Ebal, which dated to about 1200 BCE. This proves the Israelites were literate when they entered Holy Land. The Babylonian captivity did not occur until about 600 BCE.
@blackhawk7r221
@blackhawk7r221 11 күн бұрын
@ It’s not a question of literacy, it’s a question of when exactly did the Hebrews go from polytheistic heathens to recording their belief in a single god. As of yet, nothing conclusive older than 700BC has been discovered.

The true worshippers of God can say “I and my Father are one:” When we become heirs of God, we become joint-heirs with Jesus (Romans 8:17). Only then will we become glorified together and become one even as *_they are one_* (John 17:22). Just as the Father does in Jesus, we will become connected to the only owner of the good spirit when we understand that there is only one God and it is *_the Father._* As Jesus has told us, “the true worshippers shall *_worship the Father in spirit and in truth:_* for the Father seeketh such to worship him” (John 4:23-24). Likewise, the Father has told us in 2 Corinthians 6:16, “I will live in them, and walk in them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.” Only the Father is the one true God (1 Corinthians 8:6, Deut 32:39, John 17:3, Isaiah 45:5, John 14:10).

The flood story in The Epic of Gilgamesh can be compared to the biblical account of Noah’s flood. But what about the creation story and Adam and Eve? Could these stories have originated from Mesopotamian traditions? Many ancient Mesopotamian myths, such as the Enuma Elish and the Adapa Myth, share themes of creation, divine testing, and a loss of immortality. While there are similarities, the biblical narratives present a unique theological perspective, emphasizing a monotheistic God and humanity’s direct relationship with Him.

God could have created a universe where man had freewill and chose not to fall from the garden of Eden. Completely possible, if he is all powerful as the bible claims. Logically, being all powerful God must have had a choice of an infinite amount of universes where man kind had free will and didn't fall. Since we all can conclude that evil exists in the world we can know that the all powerful deity of the bible chose to create a universe where evil would exist, therefore making him ultimately responsible for every evil ever commited. Think about it. If he exists he is evil. Or my logic is flawed 🤷
