Ian Kendall Nah it depends on the player a g league team would pay big money for a player straight outa HS like Zion or lamelo
@KMaserati5 жыл бұрын
Ian Kendall as someone that played in the G league back when it was the D league this is legit. The only benefit of playing in the G league is staying in the states and the automatic/close relationship to the nba in comparison to other fiba leagues. I was making around 50k in the d league back then and that was great back then there were guys that still had regular jobs while playing professionally.
@KMaserati5 жыл бұрын
If you want to make money the best bet is going across the pond or South America they pay well and you are treated like a top athlete. I was on the verge of signing with a Brazilian team for around 100k plus 5k monthly living stipend and 12k relocation bonus when I tore some ligaments in my foot that required multiple surgeries when they went in the first time they saw I had cartilage damage that needed to be repaired as well. So that never happened but my point is you make more money in other leagues the g/d league is bogus.

Stroke it Deep but some of the best coaching programs aren't in the NBA but in certain college programs molding good players to become great players and mold them for the next level of basketball
@djdinero886 жыл бұрын
Rodney Fosdick plenty of great college coaches, that’s right. But there is a reason why MOST college coaches fail in the pros or don’t bother coaching in the league, because it’s a completely different game. Same with players killing in college but can’t stick it out in the NBA. I think the NBA hasn’t utilized the g league enough up to this point. They should make a farm type system like the MLB.

In Theory, young, weak, athletic, skilled prospects would play along older, stronger, wise and rehabing vets where they would get NBA mentors to transition them into the NBA life before it starts. We know if guys like Korver, Colisson, Haslem, Jason Terry,Dirk and more would definitely want to hang out in the G-League as player or coach to mentor these one and dones if they knew they have serious chances to be franchise players( and were payed like they are already paid by the owners as scouts and what not. Owners were greedy complaining about paying 100k for less than proven players.( the few who make more either already played in the NBA or are stashed picks. both ways those who make more are a lot less than those making 50k). With one and done guys, the G-League would get a lot more attention and "Shitty bus, hotels and facilities" would be ditched aside for NBA second training facilities, better buses and better rooms. and could offer Jersey royalties. Only the first few years of top prospects would suffer the shitty tour buses but they would also make a ton of money worry free without the NCAA having their hands in their pockets.

Do it the way they have european soccer set up. Theres lower tier teams that have contracts for players. The teams are more local. The G league is like a weird half team. They need to make them their own teams in smaller markets, not some big market side show. The young kids can come in and play a year and get paid.

why does it always have to be about money? is this really what we want to teach the young generations? not passion to things they like to do, it's for the money? if we don't get paid, we may as well quit it?
@dcclone5 жыл бұрын
No one that is a part of a cooperation that makes hundreds of millions of dollars annually and is the face of said operation should be working for free! FOH with that "education is their payment". If that were true on any level the rate of bankruptcy in pro athletes wouldn't be half what it is. Lastly passion for something doesn't mean you shouldn't be compensated.
@wuwuisaac5 жыл бұрын
Everett Sutton I don’t think you understand my point. I agree with you 100%. People should get paid. But imagine, if EVERYTHING needs a paid to be done. At least that’s not how I’m going to teach my kids, if that’s how you are going to teach your kids, you are not wrong either.
@dcclone5 жыл бұрын
@@wuwuisaac I understand that everything isn't about getting paid but we're not talking about everything. We're talking about exactly what was referenced in the video. The NCAA and there continued Monopoly on colligate players. You made it about everything.
@wuwuisaac5 жыл бұрын
Everett Sutton sorry if I have a different point of view on something, but I do. I consider NCAA an education, where you teach kids to sacrifice oneself for the success of the team. If they get paid like players in the NBA, they are going to be paid differently, based on their abilities which is fair. But the thing is, players who get paid more is now a more important piece to the team, when they are valued differently, that’s when team chemistry breaks down. Look at the NBA now, all the twitter stuffs, do you expect teenage kids to manage that better? It’s not gonna be about basketball anymore.
@dcclone5 жыл бұрын
@@wuwuisaac The "kids" aren't going to learn any more about sacrifice for the team that hasn't been taught to that point unless it matter to them. Getting paid will make that matter because we all know compensation will be performance based. Also as far as sacrifice that isn't the way 99 percent of programs at that level are run.

They shouldn't get paid. I should get paid for going to school for 6 years to become a pharmacist. I'm strengthening the economy but where's my money from Merck or GlaxoSmithKline? I shouldve been getting paid to attend school by Rite aid, CVS....i feel that basically companies should pay kids out of high school to sign up to work in any profession they pick... instead of the focus being on athletes this would be good for the kids who aren't so athletically gifted.

There's stats, how fast can you pickup a phone, how many scripts per day can you fill, how many flu shots you can get done in a quarter....my point is, we are helping the world more than these athletes. I feel that things should be set up to get the next generation to want to be Rph or Md or Dds instead of just prepping them to make threes

SehParagon but pharmacist make 120,000 out of school in my area. All I'm saying is, create incentive for scholars. I'm not really arguing that athletes shouldn't get their compensation but it's just like.... musicians...technical skill is more important than guys who just make commercial hits over seas but in america we promote people who are just tall or attractive or whatever and I'm just saying that SHOULDN'T always be the narrative.
