I remember seeing an episode of this show where Hulk and Linda debate him signing a new multi-year wrestling contract. Hulk does not want to do it because years of abuse have caused permanent damage to his knees. Linda made it very, very clear that he has no choice because she does not intend to give up a lifestyle to which she has “become accustomed.” I looked at my husband and said, “That is divorce lawyer talk. She is already planning it.”

as someone who's had a lot of vocal training brooke actually isn't too bad of a singer (or wasn't back then), but she's definitely singing in an unfortunate 2000s/2010s way that's not really sustainable live or long term (and yeah the song is. something.). the thing that's really upsetting is definitely her father pointing out everything wrong with her body when she's already in exceptional shape.
@MonkeyKingsformerroomate2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I've worked with some younger bands before, recording them. The lyrics could be fixed, also they're from a 16 year old girl. Who is going to be nervous, is doing it live. We don't even know if she's practiced that song much or if she's not had any amount of lessons. There's potential there for sure, and she'd be far from the worst singers of that time period....or this one. It's absolutely messed up they'd criticize her body, especially since she's just a teenager.
@carleeelizabeth2 жыл бұрын
@@MonkeyKingsformerroomate thank you for your input! it's been a while since i watched the show but i think i remember her saying she'd come up with the lyrics the day before, if not that day, and knowing how reality tv goes i wouldn't be surprised if someone had written them for her. but yes, i feel like she had potential (i think i remember her having a couple of songs out back in the day which weren't amazing but very much a product of the time period). i seem to recall that the body criticism was also all coming from her father, which is all the more upsetting.
@MonkeyKingsformerroomate2 жыл бұрын
@@carleeelizabeth She did have some minor hits I recall. Nothing great though. Which you said, just adding what I remember. Thanks for the context, it makes total sense why the lyrics were lousy and confirms she didn't have any time to practice. We're hearing a first try. I'm a pretty good singer but I don't show people practice takes for a reason, they're usually bad hehe.

Y'all need cut the bullshit. This is HULK HOGAN! He is a wrestling legend who was a fitness freak where his world was embodied by & surrounded by perfection with body image. That's like Arnold Schwarzenegger being content and nonchalant if all his kids were fat as hell and out of shape when he is known universally as The king of bodybuilding with his own world wide fitness competition. Hogan was OCD and wrong to impose this on her but its not farfetched or creepy. He is not your father or neighbors stereotypical dad or the average dad bod father. Hogans 400 days claim is based on the time difference between hogans home in California and Japan. Japan is 17 hours ahead of California so theoretically you could live the same day twice if you flew from Japan to California. If you do this 50 times in a year then you’ve lived about 400 days. Unfortunately, that’s not taking into consideration the flying to Japan aspect where hogan went ahead 17 hours and skipped almost a whole day, negating the 17 coming back.

And I am going to be that other person who says it was one of my faves shows cause hell it was. I'm 27 so I watched the integrity of the show when I was really young so my conceptualization of it differs from 35-40 year olds picking at it. Hogan knows best is no more trash than real housewives, the bachelor which is played out or these individual shows like lisa vanderpump. The show from today's perspective is trash cause we consume media differently and the world has changed since then dramatically. Everything looks a hot mess and the show wasn't really good at the meat of it but that was the 2000s for you. If you weren't a mega main stream name like Osborne or A part of MTVs The Hills, then your show was going to look stupid. MTV had a mixture of goofy slapstick reality programs then they had Laguna beach, the hills and a shot at love with tila tequila that were all groundbreaking for its time since reality tv being fake wasn't direcrly conveyed to us or always exposed until some years later. Hogan knows best is a wack show in general but I enjoyed the antics and just watching Hulk in a non wwe setting. This was the first time I could remember that a wrestler of his manicured got a show. Back then getting your own show meant a lot and it wasn't seen as beneath a star unless he had too much money to stoop to that level. Hulk made the mistake of presenting his messy wife and out of touch barely accomplished kids to the public without strong plot lines or showing behind the scenes wrestling or engaging guys in the back like how miz & mrs does or total divas. Had he took a different approach it would have been tolerable. Its not the worst show and I've seen much worse come and go back then.

Also the show sucked cause Hogan was getting old. Old and lacked the edge that someone like John Cena has in the sense of being business minded in a beneficial manner. He should have used his star power to network his daughter further and not let her drop flops with some paul wall guy who is a nobody now. If Cena ever gets old and lets his family do a show like this which I'm sure he wont, he would do better
