Did I Cut This Too Short?

A while ago we replaced our slate tile floors with LVP flooring. This left a gap underneath each of the door casings because the slate was so much thicker. Not wanting to replace each casing, I knew I had to come up with a cheap solution to fix this problem. Using pre-primed plinths or moulding blocks I was able to fill in the gaps and add a little decoration. Let me know if you like how they turned out!

That works! Depending on the gap size, I find dark brown caulking can look surprisingly good to fill the gap underneath

I thought about caulking in the gap, but it was about 1/2” and I felt it needed a more permanent fix. Thanks for watching!

Oh yeah 1/2” is a bit too much for caulk. When I install flooring, I cut ~1/8” above the floor surface and in most cases I can get away with leaving it as is

Good fix! I have same problem as a result of removing wall-to-wall carpeting and installing hardwood floors. In a few doorways the jambs and casings are a good 1/2" above the new flooring. The flooring installers had simply cut slices of casing and wedged them in place. But with wood movement during the seasons, once loose our cats batted the pieces all over the place! Going to apply your approach.
