A lot of the time, people automatically assume that because of where the product is produced, it must not be a good tool. From now on, those people should be pointed towards this video. Just the fact that a company not only listened to suggested changes, they took the advice of one of the bigger names reviewing tools, and they worked with him and gave him the credit in the design change. That is extremely f**king impressive.

The smile full of undisguised satisfaction on your face is priceless and completely understandable. By the way, please transmit my appreciation to Hongdui. It is clear that the employees understood that they are there for the customers, and one of them, especially a very opinion-forming, is worth taking fully seriously. Big, big bravo. For You and for Hongdui!!!! This is exactly how I imagine the perfect world: cooperation across country borders, across continents borders. Not conquest, but cooperation - it is simply more profitable. MUTUALLY! Perhaps this episode should be watched CAREFULLY by a certain group of very weird-thinking guys? Hi Dennis, I bought this the same day you released this video and recieved it yesterday. It looks like advertised and well designed. I have some further recommendations though.The milled-out pockets (part of the ruler connection) are fairly rough and sharp. Easilly improved with some light sanding of all sharp edges and not a big issue. Once sanded it slips together just a bit nicer (added some grease to prevent wear as well). The small alignement line (@6:43) is not present in my version... In the manual it mentions the dimensions of the silver T-part, with the 1" width and 45degr for using on saw tables. It would be very easy to laser-etch these dimensions on the parts (as the are etching you logo on it anyway!!!). Maybe give them a call again? Thanks for the recomendation! Best value for money tool I have in the shop!

I'm in the same boat as you in regards to the alignment line not being there. Guess it's something we can probably carefully mark in ourselves.

Wish they'd sell drill guides in imperial measurements too. Most of my bits are imperial so I try and only use metric bits when there's a good reason to. Hard to find metric hardware locally in the states for decent prices.
@HookedonWood8 ай бұрын
what would be the imperial sizes to 3,4,5 and 6 mm? and Is it common to have also imperial bits in the US or UK? Or has the majority metric drill bits? can you tell me something about it. Because I discussed it with Hongdui, but I because of lack of experience, I am afraid to give more pressure about decisions.
@commentsonthetube148 ай бұрын
@@HookedonWood Thanks for asking! I am not sure about the UK but imperial bits are much more common in the US. I usually need to go online or to a speciality industrial store to get metric bits. Normal hardware stores don't carry them. I wish they did though as I do prefer metric sometimes. I tend to use inches for woodworking and mm for 3D printing. As for size equivalents, these come closest to a pure conversion: 3mm -> 1/8" 4mm -> 5/32" or 3/16" 5mm -> 3/16" or 7/32" 6mm -> 1/4" But I think it makes more sense to size based on the screws people will use: #6 wood screw -> 3/32" (I use this most of the time for 6 in hardwood or 8 in soft wood) #8 wood screw -> 1/8" #10 wood screw -> 9/64", but realistically I'd just use 1/8" #12 wood screw -> I never use screws this large, but you'd use 5/32" through-hole for #8 machine screws -> 5/32" through-hole for #10 machine screws -> 3/16" through-hole for 1/4" bolt -> 17/64" If I was going to buy a set, I'd probably like to see 3/32", 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", and 1/4". If they wanted to add 7/32", 17/64", or 9/32", it might not be a bad idea. But it's easy enough to drill a 1/4" hole and then enlarge it by 1/64" with the right sized bit, so it's not a requirement. I suppose I can do this with the metric guides as well!

Hello Denis.. I purchased one of these shortly after your FIRST review. As soon as it arrived I found out how tight and difficult it was to detach/reattach the end piece. As I am not doing much at moment (post surgery) I put it to one side. Then I saw your review which now highlighted the very flaws I had found. And talked about a redesigned one. I tried to get a refund from Banggood on grounds that it was not really fit for purpose and to buy the revised version, but the cost of return (from Australia) is ludicrous and they closed the thread very quickly, after offering me a piffling amount in dollars in compensation .. ~$10 I think it was Are you able to prevail upon them to do something to rectify this situation? Thanks Richard

Great product and enhancements. Is there any way in which a modification could be done to the hilt which would allow for angle usage using a pin indexer to have angle capability between -47 / +47 degrees. That would make it the ultimate tool and almost guaranteed to make it the best combination t-square on the market..
@ex-nerd8 ай бұрын
So many great improvements, though as a US-based woodworker who works in both imperial and metric … I considered the "both" version to be a huge advantage for the Hongdui over the competition. It's rarely an issue to just mark close to the edge of my piece (width of the rule) and then connect up the final segment with a small square. I'm also curious why the imperial version comes with metric drill sleeves. A 1/4-in drill bit won't fit into a 6mm hole.
@HookedonWood8 ай бұрын
You made a good point. Perhaps the combination scale comes back. I think it will depend on how it will sell. About the drilling guide. If does an imperial system always comes with in combination with an imperial drill sleeves? or is it sometimes mix like Hongdui choose?
@ex-nerd8 ай бұрын
@@HookedonWood The only other issue I see with this that prevents it from being perfect (more so than the scale) is that the T bracket extends above the work surface. This makes it better for rigidity but means you can't use it on the edge of a board to line up something like a track saw track. As for the drill guide, maybe it's just something mis-transcribed in the banggood product page (and do have metric bits if I need to use them, though they're nicer ones I'd prefer not to dull against a metal bushing).
@peters88588 ай бұрын
The other question I have, is that on your website, your excellent plans often include printing or etching Perspex material. Have you thought about using your Chinese tool manufacturers to make these parts for you in bulk which you could add to your purchasable tool plans which when combined with the right plywood or MDF, we would all benefit from your amazing designs in our workshops?
