Maths grad here. I became a energy trader and that analytical thinking made me $30m before 35. Also got a 1st class from a Russell group university after a lot of stress managing that and tennis. Maths degrees can make you wealthy if you apply them and also skills applicable to many STEM csreers. Grateful to all my great professors❤

did you become a quant trader ?
@davidc44083 күн бұрын
@CharlesBrighton-mr4ev no quants need much more education - many have a PhD and build complex models. Energy trading uses mathematical Probabilities and patterns but less complex. More of a skill you need to develop once you are lucky to get a position.

What advice would you give to students who will start uni next year ? Like what to expect and how to prepare for exams ?
@NeilDoesMaths12 күн бұрын
Be prepared for an academic shock in terms of formality. At university you have to adapt to thinking like an actual academic. Imo there is nothing you can do to prepare for it apart from being ready to accept that things are going to be super different to Alevels, just remember that after the first term, things get better
@Aaran-x5b12 күн бұрын
How was the way u revised for stuff different at uni from a level
@NeilDoesMaths12 күн бұрын
A-Level I banged out ever paper in existence. For uni, I spent a week re-writing the lecture notes so I had context for what I had to remember for the exam. Then before the exam I spent a couple days looking at past papers and finding patterns in what gets asked. There is a lot less variance at university
