It's worth considering (I'm sure you have) that on many dslr's autofocus on the shutter button could have been deactivated in favour of back button focusing. I have done that on my Nikon. So just because it doesn't focus on the shutter button doesn't mean it doesn't work

CF errors on the Canon 5D mark II are a very common problem with this camera. Many posts about this online with few solid clues how to fix this. This camera is pretty finicky about brands of CF cards that can be used. Some solutions offered include a complete reset to factory defaults and/or formatting the CF card in a computer first (fat 32).

Those LCD glass can be replaced easily. They are not expensive. I think I did one on a Canon SX520 for about $5.00. Basically heat up the old one with a hairdryer, remove and replace. The adhesive perimeter strip is included.

The Sony has pre-flash for red-eye reduction. It can probably be disabled in the menu.

It's a real bummer that the Canon 5Dmkii wasn't working properly. But even so at least there is some value for you from it I have an Olympus SZ-10. Very similar to the SZ-11 you had. I use it as a daily pocketable camera. Needs a lot of light but in the right conditions a decent little camera. Another interesting video, nice work.

Some lens creep is normal for superzoom lenses if you hold the lens downwards. My Nikkor AF-S 28-300mm has it from new.

You should be able to turn off the multi-flash on the Sony by turning off red eye reduction.

I was looking for this comment as I was about to say the same thing. The pre-picture flashes are to makes peoples pupils contract to reduce the risk of red eye in pictures. You can normally turn this off on every camera I've ever used.

I realized that I had some dust on my LX100, so I tried a solution I read on the web: vacuum it out. Basically use a small water bottle with the bottom cut off as an adapter. Put the wide part over the lens, the narrow one to the vacuum cleaner, turn on the camera, turn on the vacuum cleaner, and have at it. In my case it fixed the issue, and the sensor was cleaned up nicely. Do this at your own risk, though!

These DSLRs make great starter cameras for kids. Basically, they are obsolete for the pros or those wanting a walkaround camera. I can see a youngster with a Nikon or Canon making some waves and learning photography beyond the cellphone.

At 26:00 I'm sad. About the 5D...I love my 5D2. I love mt 6D too...but maybe the 5D more. I really miss my 7D, that I sold. The shutter sound on that one was....semms like I'm kind of a fan of classic DSLR's. :D

It is a shame that they stop making point and shoot cameras. I can only use one hand but I enjoy taking pictures. A touch screen is hard for me to use also so taking pictures with a smart phone is really hard. I use a Canon ELPH 190 IS and it takes excellent pictures better then a cell phone. Since I find a camera hard to hold and focus the lens, the Canon is perfect for me because everything is automatic

Ricoh still makes the Ricoh GR and it is the best camera for single handed use i ever used. there is even an urban legend that the designers of the camera were forced to test the camera with one hand tied to their back. but it is pretty expensive and the used market is pretty small

Besides the aforementioned Ricoh GRIII (worth checking out, it's a great camera), there's also the new OM System Tough TG-7 (which this channel has done a review of recently), some Sony models (RX100 VII and ZV-1 are the best right now, but I think they still sell some Cybershot models), the Canon G7x Mk III, as well as the admittedly overpriced (but admittedly quite nice) Leica D-Lux 7, though you could buy a Lumix LX100 II and get the same camera for much cheaper lol. They're all a tad expensive, but they're all really nice compact cameras, all featuring 4K video and roughly 20MP (give or take) of resolution with modern processing. Worth noting that the D-Lux 7 and the LX100 II will be somewhat better than the others, since they use M4/3 sensors instead of 1" or smaller. There's also stuff like the X100 and the Leica Q series, but they're a bit more akin to some of the nicer film point and shoots from the 90s than the digital ones from the 2000s and on, featuring prime lenses and larger sensors (APS-C and Full frame respectively), so they're quite more expensive and often back ordered. Honestly, I think there's quite a few choices there, I'd be hard pressed to pick any of them over the others, with the exception of the X100 and Q series which are in a different category.

Ohhh...I'm at 20:35, I really hope that 5D works...and with that 50mm. Everybody is always talking about the "plastic fantastic" 50mm 1,8. At around 100 USD. I payed 120 USD for the 50mm 1,4 USM in mint condition. I have both. The 1,4 is a MUCH better lens in built quality, glass, focus speed...every way possible. :)

Not sure if you have watched any of my other videos? I am at the whim of the supplier as to how they package these. Some do a good job with individual bubble wrap/etc, some only use packing peanuts, and some literally put the cameras in the box with hardly any padding. As for providing documentation about these purchases, I don’t share specific invoices as for some of these suppliers it has taken years and years of work to develop a network of opportunities.
