I'm just sceptical investing in Canon, they aren't consistent. With each release they keep changing the hotshoe pin layout then the mounts from ef/efs to ef-m then decided to ditch that for rf I mean seriously what the f*ck is their problem? 🙄 The road to constantly buying adapters. Third party lens manufacturers will just give up on canon and we will be stuck with only canons lenses which they can dictate prices however they feel like. And slowly ef/efs will phase out. Sometimes you need to think ahead and their business strategy is what I don't like. Canon is becoming like Apple in the camera world. Locking you in a particular ecosystem at all means necessary.

I’m here because I received this camera as a gift, along with two lenses. I’m new to using it and have no idea what I’m doing. The camera was given to me because I want to create video content for beauty shots, focusing on hair and makeup on myself and also on my clients since I’m a cosmetologist. I definitely want to start taking photos of my clients’ hair once I’m done styling it. I’m excited to learn and improve my skills with this camera, so thank you for providing this content

Suddenly seems to be a lot of 550D/T2i videos on You Tube. Interesting. I've been shooting two of them since early 2016. I shoot nearly anything, right now that seems to be mostly grandkids sports. Canon 70-300 lens for that. The little 24mm STM seems to love people, especially in small groups. I wanted a higher end walk around lens so I bought a used EF-S 15-85mm lens. Superb lens at 15, 24, 35, 70mm and in between. I'm looking now for a good 50mm f1.4. Just to bore you some more in closing, my T2i's also seem to work well (fully manually) with some old OM Zuiko lenses from my film days.

Hi ! Great video ! I once had a powershot, but never shot in “P” mode, I had a SX 100 and I bought it, among other things, because of full manual control. Now I decided to return to shooting on powershots, but I noticed that cameras without a full manual mode are often cheaper and less worn out. My question is this: is it possible to achieve everything I need from the “P” mode only with the exposure compensation? Let's say I really liked shooting at long shutter speeds and in full manual mode it's easy, but wouldn't "P" limit the maximum shutter speed to one second or so ? Or is there some special “night mode” that unlocks long shutter speeds, but will this mode give me control over ISO or exposure compensation? And one more question, how does the “p” mode work with the aperture? The fact is that diffraction is breathing in the back of these cameras and, by and large, there is no point in closing the aperture until there is a not to much light. f/4 for 1/2.5 cameras is already something like f/22 for Full Frame. Does this "P" mode understand this or it can close the aperture even when there is a still a possibility to reduce shutter speed ?? Thank you.

I like the old A series of Canon cameras, especially the ones that take AA batteries... fact is I like most cameras that take standard AA batteries. Never have to worry about proprietary batteries or lost chargers. The only thing is remember to remove batteries if camera is not used for a long time.

I had the RX100m3 wayback 2017 and all its photos are still relevant now. I've had a D750, A6400, XT-3, D7200 cameras before, they all have been replaced over and over again but the RX100 is the last one to go. Rx100 is a very good point and shoot, you can just wear it in your neck and forget about it until you need it, specially if you have kids where DSLR is already hassle to bring. They say the best camera is the one you have in your hand at that moment, but in reality we don't bring a DSLR because its too big and you need to store it inside the bag from time to time.

Hi! I like your site - it's informative and straightforward. I don't have an ELPH 100, but an ELPH 135 that won't focus when I press the shutter button down half-way (I hear a click instead). The focusing servo doesn't kick in. It happens on auto-, or manual focus. Really frustrating! Is there a part I can check or replace to fix it? Thanx for any insight

I’m thinking about buying a Nikon 60D with a Nikon AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED lens for about 85 dollars. Would this be a good purchase? Or would you recommend anything else.
@pricklypearcamera

A nikon D60 with an 18-70mm for about $85 USD is right about exactly or just shy of where the market price is for that kit, so I would say it's a fair price. Any idea of the shutter count? It's pretty easy to check, just google D60 shutter count and there are a few options that are free I think. I enjoy shooting with the D60. Just like the Rebel XT, the autofocus is a bit limited, but I've seen some great pro level shots out of the D60.

@@fanoffans5467 Ok, I think the shutter expectation on the D60 is around 75-100k, so should have quite a bit of life left on it. That's right in the average range for the Nikon D60's I've used. (I've sold over 100 in the last 5 years).

I have a canon power shot a530. Every time I turn it on the camera extends out goes back in, and extends out again. Then it says lens error, restart camera. But no matter how many times I restart or change the batteries it keeps doing the same thing.

Definitely an issue, and unfortunately, lens errors are some of the hardest things to fix from my experience. Sometimes in rare cases it's just a tiny particle that's causing it to get stuck and a gently tap with the camera on can dislodge it, but most of the time it's a mechanical issue that is above my pay grade to fix. Sorry
