Coleman makes a duel burner stove called the fold and go and perhaps a bit heavier, was less expensive, can run on small propane bottles (1 lasts forever) or an adapter for the larger Bubba bottles or standard sizes. Not sure why I'd go with this option for overlanding. So ya thats a no from me.
@fromtheflightdeck25211 ай бұрын
One pound propane bottles last a very short time and are very expensive. Heavy too, and hard to get outside North America, so for overland this is better.

@fromtheflightdeck25211 ай бұрын
@NatureBetsLast they also are hard to find overseas, the isopro canisters are available worldwide, plus with an adapter you can use the tall butane canisters. Much cheaper than Coleman heavy one pound cylinders. Heavy because propane is higher vapor pressure.

It’s a nice stove but an easier to find and cheaper option would be the Coleman fold and go clamshell stove. Similar in size and can be found for around 65 dollars. It’s not as fancy as the jetboil genesis but it’s basically the same as the naturehike except it’s round instead of square. Great informative video though👍

I have just purchased one of these October 24 and the ignition is part of the adjuster knob rather than a separate button, seems to work flawlessly at the moment. My car camping setup is one these and a Fire Maple Mars for boiling’s water quickly and almost silently plus it can be turned into a third burner with any pan with the included pot stand. Lots of folks mentioning the Coleman but in the UK Coleman propane gas cylinders are very expensive as is white gas. I have some but that would be winter emergency use.

It’s a neat stove and folds up fairly compact but to me…it’s still a tailgate/heavy camping stove…and I like iso-butane for say my MSR pocket rocket. But you can get a new Coleman propane 2 burner w/ a good windscreen for $45 or $10-20 at a garage sale. Unless storage space is at a premium or you already have a stockpile of isobutane cylinders…I’d go with the even more readily available (and arguably refillable) propane…plus you have the option of using an adapter to use a BBQ size tank for longer term camp use. I just don’t see the value…but I do like the design…just seems overpriced for what it does.

FYI, the Jetboil is propane (like the cheaper Colman Fold N Go) so it's not really apples to apples. If you want to use isobutane this is pretty much it.

Though is 30% more flame worth 400$ , meh , I have seen it on sale for 250$ and is the only reason I have one lol , not worth 400$ . I like it, and I also like cooking with propane in the great outdoors. It is a clean cook and there is a lot less cooking odors wafting thru the forest, catching the nose of animals OR people. People love a campfire but lemme tell ya... campfires draw attention. There are lots of times when a campfire is welcome and cool and proper.... but there are also OTHER times when you, and anyone else camping with you, are better off not lighting a campfire tonite. The genesis runs on propane does it not? That’s a significant difference. (Not to justify the EXORBITANT cost of the genesis system.) I’d love to know if a simple adapter could let it run propane or if the hose would fail. Propane runs well in lower temperatures. It’s also cheaper and five pound tanks are becoming more and more common with car campers and overlanders. As far as the valves… I know some of the coleman ‘overseas made’ stoves suffered from this issue and the fix was to disassemble the valve and remove excess grease. Does it look like you could non destructively disassemble the valves?
