Did I make the Killer Bean game too hard?

From the same creator as Killer Bean Forever, this is a first person/third person, open-world, roguelike shooter.
Every time you start a new single player campaign, everything changes. The locations change, the missions change, the characters change, the bosses change, and most of all, the story changes. Characters who you trusted before, may turn against you. Enemies who tried to kill you, may end up helping you. Simple missions can turn into deadly traps. No two campaigns are the same.

Minor suggestion: restore Killer Bean's health for each kill. It rewards the player for fighting constantly and punishes them for trying to sit in cover. You should be out killing every enemy you see instead of digging in and letting them pile up on you. The real Killer Bean never took a minute, it was all or nothing Edit: Yes. This is ULTRAKILL.

Agreed. The best video games make you FEEL like the character like how "Hulk Ultimate Destruction" let you run around smashing a whole city or the "Arkham" series had you stalk, investigate, and take down groups of bad guys. Having Killer Bean be able to regain health by killing enemies would encourage a more aggressive playstyle that fits K.B.'s aggressive nature.

In the style of the killer bean, and to help game flow as "intended" as possible and to make it easier, make it so stylish gameplay restores health. Dodging bullets using a special move, slowmo multi-kills, shooting someone's bullets out of the air, stuff like that. It's what he thrives on, so make him literally thrive off of it too. That also makes the ideal gameplay try to do that as much as possible

I think that an upgrade on the character models would help visually as they would match more with the environment, the clothes in particular could do with a little refresh; especially on Killer Bean himself considering he hasn't changed since Killer Bean Forever in 2008. That's 15 years we have had the same model used in things like the Killer Bean series on KZbin which I do say, the model is iconic but it's started feeling outdated. And now with higher-quality environments the characters seem out of place too, so redoing the clothes to fix things like characters having their crotch exposed and clothing materials being strangely reflective, (look at Killer bean's body armor) could modernize Killer Bean and keep him looking fresh for his video game appearance.

Suggestions 1. Add skills or special weapons like stealth that makes you invisible for a while? 2. Add armor. It's clear that the beans wear armor you can add armor to the game to reduce damage but maybe it decreases speed 3. Some House interactions? The game itself right now is great!!! This game reminds me of Total Overdose :) Always wanted to play a sequel but they discontinued it. Excited for killer bean! • Make health drops more common. • The guns have a lot of spread, could narrow it a bit. • If possible, Total Overdose had some funny powerups like rewind, golden gun, tornado, bull mode. You can add suitable ones for this game too. some savage tricks when going goes tough and adds comedic factor.

It's fascinating how one man can animate this movement so fluidly. This game will surely be one of the most smashing titles in the indie genre! I still do have minor suggestions, here is a small list that will help players immerse more: Use less plastic-looking and shiny textures for the guns. Looking up real shotguns will give you an idea. Punish players who try to hide by giving enemy AI flanking techniques (essentially a group surrounding you) Use less dated stock sounds for the sound effects. Make a more modern and minimalistic HUD. There is no need for the grey area and color gradients around the HUD. Add proper explosion effects on the tank once defeated. Hope this list helps! I'm a huge fan of the work you've done so far, I know you can do even better!

I think this looks great, it has nice gameplay, a simple but favorable UI, great graphics, it's all in one package! While I do think all is great on it's own, I do think the difficulty could be very slightly toned down a bit, but just slightly, obviosly you don't want to make it too hard but you want to it too easy either, you have to put the player on a challenge after all. Overall, great work Jeff! I look foward to this game!

You could always do a heal move that Killer Bean could do; could be a taking a breath or a button mapped specifically to a healing item like hollow knight. Things can remain difficult but still have actions that actively force you back into defense, like ruining a combo for healing or using too many healing items costs too much money to do too often. PS; the gameplay looks so solid all over Mr. Lew.

Yeah but those seem a bit disingenuous, Killer Bean still takes cover alot in his movies and that short youtube show; breaking a combo to take a moment to recover should be a normal action that you use more if you're less confident and/or skilled.

Some suggestions! - Add more realistic/more death screams - Add more voice actors and more lines/better voice acting - The bean at the top should only be there when he has something to say - Add Siphon - Make the camera so Jack isn't in the crosshair (I understand that you're going for a Max Payne camera, but the first two games didn't have a crosshair.) - Make the UI more simplified and tactical - Smoothen some animation transitions - Everyone loves goofy ragdolls, but don't make them *too* glitchy! From what you've shown us so far, this gameplay reminds me a lot of TREPANG² (which is very much a compliment, by the way). I hope this game gets a soundtrack like what we got for the movie, because that will make this game go from great to fantastic!
