I smoked for thirty years 30 a day. I got pneumonia and nearly died in intensive care. That feeling of not being able to breathe made me swear if I got better I would never touch another cigarette. I never smoked again. No stop smoking aids,; the thought of smoking made me ill. It’s been 12 years and I have never missed smoking. Pneumonia was the best thing that ever happened to me.

For me it was: I had to go outside on the porch in the cold snowy winter. I had that cigarette, while thinking I will not let any addiction control me. It's not worth suffering in the cold for a cigarette! Never had an other cigarette. Every time I smell one or smell the walking ashtray, it makes me cough, it goes right to my lungs! If someone is smoking outside it comes in through my home and into my lungs ! They need to outlaw smoking anything that will effect anyone else! Let them vape it, that don't effect anyone else!

It does though, the idea of doing something bad only once puts you in a bad mindset where you do the thing once you feel more incuraged to do it again because it's "not your fault because it was likely to happen anyway" I did heroin once and just once, didn't instantly get addicted and it didn't magically ruin my life, but the wrong mindset towards it will, you can do most substances once in controlled portions just to see what it's like so the curiosity doesn't lead you to trying it later on with a higher chance of repeating it, so sure, smoke a cigarette, cough or think it's disgusting and leave it at that cause nobody I ever met liked their first cigarette, chances are you won't either

Once you've stopped, you gotta make sure to never smoke one again, but also dont start with just the one. Addiction is real struggle and anyone to pull through like Bobby who has had multiple addictions and overcoming them is amazing!! Had to rewatch this video again to hear those inspiring words I heard over a year ago from this video.. still seemed to ring through in my recent relapse. Back on the wagon on that beautiful journey to bettering myself I hope this finds someone and helps that needs it part of recovering is know when to help another addict to better themselves as well they just have to want it too! My mom smoked a lot every day. She eventually developed cancer and passed away at 44. It was terrifying to watch her decline. My mom was a correctional officer at a prison and was so physically strong. Six months into treatment, she had deteriorated so much that when she fell in the bathroom, she couldn't pick herself up and was stuck for hours until I got home from school and even longer until my dad got home and could lift her. To anyone out there wanting to give up smoking: do it. It will be hard, but your family and friends will love having you in their lives longer. The struggle will be worth it. Please believe me.

Finding out that you, like me, overcame a heroin addiction, is truly inspirational. I watch what you do, and all the tools you have and I dream of being able to pull out a rotary tool and all those different bits and just carve cool things. I've always loved cool projects like this and building or creating stuff with my own hands. I remember tinkering with things from a very early age. You should know that what you do is truly inspiring. If I had the money to afford even just a few of the tools needed, I would be so happy! Being a newly single mom in one of Canada's most expensive cities while also being on disability and living cheque to cheque, means I have no extra money for buying unnecessary things. For now, however, I am just so so so glad I stumbled upon your channel, so I can watch, learn and live vicariously through you and seeing the amazing things you create! Truly, thank you.☺💟
