I smoked for thirty years 30 a day. I got pneumonia and nearly died in intensive care. That feeling of not being able to breathe made me swear if I got better I would never touch another cigarette. I never smoked again. No stop smoking aids,; the thought of smoking made me ill. It’s been 12 years and I have never missed smoking. Pneumonia was the best thing that ever happened to me.

For me it was: I had to go outside on the porch in the cold snowy winter. I had that cigarette, while thinking I will not let any addiction control me. It's not worth suffering in the cold for a cigarette! Never had an other cigarette. Every time I smell one or smell the walking ashtray, it makes me cough, it goes right to my lungs! If someone is smoking outside it comes in through my home and into my lungs ! They need to outlaw smoking anything that will effect anyone else! Let them vape it, that don't effect anyone else!

"the intro is very dark" (1:30) "I can turn that into art yes I can!" love your silliness Bobby, but I never knew you were using tobacco, but just know that you have people who support you, like me. My father (who is still a jerk now a days) was a smoker and alcoholic. He stopped smoking but when to vaping to try and slowly stop smoking all together about maybe 3 or 4 years ago and stopped drinking because he went to the hospital because of it about maybe a year ago. But the point is that you have people who are willing to help you. People like me, and I support you all the way

It does though, the idea of doing something bad only once puts you in a bad mindset where you do the thing once you feel more incuraged to do it again because it's "not your fault because it was likely to happen anyway" I did heroin once and just once, didn't instantly get addicted and it didn't magically ruin my life, but the wrong mindset towards it will, you can do most substances once in controlled portions just to see what it's like so the curiosity doesn't lead you to trying it later on with a higher chance of repeating it, so sure, smoke a cigarette, cough or think it's disgusting and leave it at that cause nobody I ever met liked their first cigarette, chances are you won't either

Once you've stopped, you gotta make sure to never smoke one again, but also dont start with just the one. I know it’s been a while since you posted this- but I’m really proud of you. I feel like people don’t understand how hard it is to overcome addiction. It is physically, mentally and emotionally trying, and it takes so much willpower to do. You have done something most could not and it’s incredible to see you be so open with your audience despite stigma. You have done so much good by sharing your battle. By involving your younger audience you have stopped so many from turning to smoking in the future ❤️❤️

My mom smoked a lot every day. She eventually developed cancer and passed away at 44. It was terrifying to watch her decline. My mom was a correctional officer at a prison and was so physically strong. Six months into treatment, she had deteriorated so much that when she fell in the bathroom, she couldn't pick herself up and was stuck for hours until I got home from school and even longer until my dad got home and could lift her. To anyone out there wanting to give up smoking: do it. It will be hard, but your family and friends will love having you in their lives longer. The struggle will be worth it. Please believe me.

Finding out that you, like me, overcame a heroin addiction, is truly inspirational. I watch what you do, and all the tools you have and I dream of being able to pull out a rotary tool and all those different bits and just carve cool things. I've always loved cool projects like this and building or creating stuff with my own hands. I remember tinkering with things from a very early age. You should know that what you do is truly inspiring. If I had the money to afford even just a few of the tools needed, I would be so happy! Being a newly single mom in one of Canada's most expensive cities while also being on disability and living cheque to cheque, means I have no extra money for buying unnecessary things. For now, however, I am just so so so glad I stumbled upon your channel, so I can watch, learn and live vicariously through you and seeing the amazing things you create! Truly, thank you.☺💟

I deal with health anxiety aswell, I quit smoking a year ago on June 1st. I'm also a recovering alcoholic with 4 years of sobriety. You're not alone! Thank you for teaching me to be more confident and more adventurous with my artistic abilities.

Thank you for talking about your struggles with adiction, Dukey, it's so incredibly inspiring and especially (I feel) to young people. To see that you've struggled with these things and have still stayed such a lovely and optimistic character and made such a positive impact really fills me with hope going forward, having had issues with mental health and addiction myself. Thank you!

alcohol too? i'm so happy to hear that. i knew there was a deeper reason i liked you so much than simply your art. also, if you're happy in your body, then that's your ideal weight! i've recently gotten past a rough patch, and gaining twenty pounds meant i didn't fit in my jeans, but i didn't fit into my sadness anymore either.

An ideal weight is a healthy weight. Idk why you put on 20 pounds, but I suggest losing at least some of them, ik it isn't easy at all, but hey, it might affect your health later on

red eyed tree frog dude this whole statement is not okay. you don't know anything about op. coming from someone who was anorexic for most of their teenage years, it's just not okay. why do you care? op said that they're happy, leave them be. 20 pounds isn't even that much and it will hardly affect them in the long run.

Anyone who said quitting heroine is easier than quitting nicotine never went thru real heroin withdrawal or y’all just don’t remember it cause if you were ACTUALLY in active heroin withdrawal, and you had the option to switch to nicotine withdrawal you would do it in a heartbeat

Bobby, are you the artist who voiced the "a few moments later" and other add ins? Btw have I mentioned how proud I am that you gave up tobacco, and alcohol in the same year?. Bless your heart, I'm praying for you and your family. September 12,1996. The day I threw away my cigarettes.
