Honestly I disagree with you, as angering this case was for me when I first watched this, I believe everyone deserves a second chance WITH boundaries, those who did crimes 20-30 years ago have the ability to change, but you should always have that thought in the back of your head that this person did this and set those rules, if they raped or molested a child, then tell them that they will never be aloud to be around any child for as long as they live, if you have kids and you want to be with that person, than make sure you never let that person live in your house or get close to your kids.

It was irresponsible for Steve to say he doesn't think the man will ever sex offend again. If an individual has that kind of evil tendency, never doubt their capacity to reoffend. That is why we have sex offender registries, but not for murderers, thieves, etc. Given the right circumstances, most people can kill (in defense), or steal (financial desperation), but never molest or rape - especially a child.

The irony of the original comment is that child predators actually have a more likely chance to do a non-sexual crime and non-violence crimes like theft caused by the inability to live in society due to constant monitoring and violating an extreme social taboo furthering causing isolation (14-20%) than to re-offend a sexual crime. The guy already did his time and the chances of him reoffending are extremely low. Predators with a high chance of reoffending are either not released to the public and spend 40-60+ years in prison and/or virtually under house arrest for the rest of their lives. The system that the government has put in against these people is extremely effective in containing and preventing further abuses including that the majority of cases are caused by 'first-time offenders' between the ages of 19-25 which is also the group least re-offending too (The guy in this video fits the criteria too.). I am not defending the guy's actions nor taking pity, but Steve is right that the chances of him re-offending is pretty much non-existing.

I don't know where you are getting your information. The sex offender registry exists to protect decent citizens from the evil ones that they won't keep locked up. Most sex offenders were victims at one time, so they know exactly what damage they are causing. A man who forced an 11 year old girl to give him oral sex has a very high likelihood of reoffending. He may have already, but just wasn't reported.

My dad told me if I'm ever charged for a crime I didn't commit and a plea deal comes up, tear it up and yell at the top of my lungs, 'We're going to trial!' I will say... good on him for actually FINALLY coming clean. I still have ZERO sympathy for people who hurt children, though. At 11 years old, children have some much shit going through their head - not quiet a pre-teen, but not a little baby child either... it's hard on them - I have an 11 year old and I'd say 10-15 is rough in terms of peer pressure, figuring out who you are, children at this age are vulnerable and naive and this gy totally fucked this kids life up.

There's a reason "lie detectors" are inadmissible in court. You can be telling the truth and still show symptoms associated with lying, _or_ you can be lying and keep a level head so the reading looks like you're telling the truth.
