Why not just set and tension each string, clamp it with a capo and tune it?

Had the same issue. Put locking tuners on - problem solved
@GitShiddy8 ай бұрын
I'm not particularly a fan of modern locking tuners. Especially when the stock tuners are good, and I don't want to spend money. That said, Yamaha should definitely consider swapping over to them whenever they update the Revstar again.
@hackofalldaysmasterofnone2 ай бұрын
when I have bridges that allow do that I wrap the string at the tuning post tightly, and carefully enough to have them lay on top of each coil other like normal, then put the ball end at the bridge when I've reached that length needed, then slowly tune, and it always seemed ok.

I have the baseline Element model in Swift Blue. It might be the best value, but I'm starting to detest the color. I would very much prefer red or even natural. Also, the slider switch that seems to be pulled directly from aTelecaster. I'm not a fan.
@doca9357Ай бұрын
Use a capo to keep tension, start wind on tuner then, or place a strip of electrical tape to hold string ends in place, pull off after strings are tensioned
@za4310Ай бұрын
If you look at other archtop style bridges most of them just have a larger area where the channel only lets the string but not the ball end pass through, so with those you need to push it pretty far back for the ball end to exit and enter.

There are plenty of problems with the new Revstars, but that’s not one of them. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Every jazz guitar tailpiece has that issue and somehow everyone survives.

A little wax on the ball end would probably hold them in place while remaining easily removable.

This could be me, very big fix for a small issue. I also have a Revstar and re-stringing is a little annoying. Perhaps just glue a tiny magnet in at the end? the ballend wills tick to it. however i don't know if this would somehow magentize the sring and interfere with the PUs... But, they should have slottet it an an angle...
@GitShiddy7 ай бұрын
Yeah it's just annoying enough to be frustrating. A lot of people have recommended great ideas, everything from the most expensive option of locking tuners, to the easiest (easier than what I ended up with) using a capo to hold the tension. I don't know if magnets would interfere, but I do know (as I ended up with here) it can be solved simpler than you initially think.
@cleitonpiaia7 ай бұрын
You could have solved it more easily with masking tape, which can be easily removed after installing the strings. Just an idea.

@diederrr Please look up tune-o-matic style bridges. There's multiple designs notably ABR & Nashville style versions based on the various alterations made by Gibson over the early decades of solid body electric guitar building. One of the noteworthy changes is making the saddle adjustment easier to work on by flipping the screw away from the bridge. Many modern guitar brands use this format across their guitars.
