I'm glad this was shared in the OSRS subreddit too. I'm concerned the questions regarding upping the membership price might lead some of them to go "what? Pass. Not like this effects me" but I'm hoping they realize it really does. OSRS's success is dependent on RS3 succeeding too, it's the same company. I actually voted yes on the "would you pay more for membership if we completely removed mtx?" mainly because I am concerned they wouldn't even consider removing it if they didn't think they could buffer some of that loss by doing this. I get a decent value out of being able to play both games on one subscription, but agree with OSRS players that being able to play both AT THE SAME TIME on one subscription would make that more viable. Split screen OSRS and RS3 I would absolutely do on a daily basis. I play both sides, so I always come out on top!

The problem with removing MTX in 2024 is that the damage has already been done, there are thousands of accounts that have artifically boosted themselves, which has only snowballed into a bigger problem over time. 10 years later and with it only just being addressed, that's far too late for the removal to have any impact at this point. Players ranging from new to mid game will never catch up if it's removed, and they should be allowed to benefit from this in the same way the community has for the last 10 years. It's not like we can go back in time and remove all of the bought xp and boosted accounts, so removing MTX would make no sense. Even if we dislike it as a community, and even if you don't engage with TH yourself, we need to keep it around for those still under 2500 total. Game integrity is already in the mud, would be a shame if the ultra late game 5.8b pvmers who don't even benefit from TH anymore took it away from people who still rely it whilst having directly benefitted from it for so long themselves.

The reason Jagex is considering removing TH is because the new UK government leadership (as well as the larger EU) is cracking down on gambling in video games. If Jagex decides to go through with this, raising the price of bonds and membership to make up for the loss of revenue from removing gambling, it'll be a one-and-done thing. They're backed into a corner and weighing their options.

I like the treasure hunter system for the fun factor, for me it was never about the xp/lamps/stars. Its just fun to see what a batch of keys will actually pull out for luck. The fun stuff is like pulling a x5 purple silverhawk feather or something crazy like a ton of springs for the cleaner. Im still gonna go around and do agility courses eventually but it was just fun to pull those out. People probably shouldnt need to be buying keys for cosmetics though as solomon's store already covers that all. I will say i dont know the common amount people will spend on keys, but usually i will get the 25 or 75 keys once every few months.

Bank boosters are actually a decent value in RS3 in my experience with other MMOs. Final Fantasy XIV for example makes you pay MONTHLY for extra space and you only have 280 slots by default. In a game that has an outrageous amount of materials and how they often interlink with other crafting skills, its feels unreasonable to do crafting without it.

Ive been playing for 20 years this october. This is the first time i went out of my way to take a survey. I then wrote an essay to them about my thoughts and left them my ingame name, actual name, and personal email if they want to discuss the subject further. My general opinion is bonds are the only thing that should be sold ingame. Gold selling will always exist and Jagex might as well be the benefactor of it. Everthing else buyable xp and cosmetics: must go. Treasure keys must go. I should not be able to get 99 necromancy incidentally from dialy keys and leveling other skills. Hope this is evidence they are ready to finally move in the right direction. At most bonus xp but not direct xp.

As far as i'm concerned (as someone who's played since 2001) Paying for XP is a non-issue at this point, specifically in RS3. The damage is already done, and has already been done since SQoF was added in the first place. But, I will say that in a game which revolves around world-building and quests I am *not* a fan of cosmetic overrides much less PAID cosmetics. It ruins the asthetic and teme of any game, and the design of non-cosmetic items will always suffer; which in turn makes the games world suffer itself. And at this point the entire game *should* be a F2P model with a *hefty* hit to non-members XP gains beyond certain skill levels and having daily trade limits (have to stop bots somehow). At the very least it lets new players try everything out (and it would increase player retention), while active members can finally use more characters without being bilked every month.

I don't really mind TH and MTX but that's only because I've gotten accustomed to them. They just exist in the game the same way boss pets that make annoying noises exist. I think they never should've been added to the game in the first place, but once it became clear they were going to stay, I just ignored them. They should merge the Yak Coin shop with the Marketplace though.

They have the Solomon Store ffs! They can add so much value there, like custom interface themes (colors, icons, cursors), new Combat Animations, PVM/Skilling Bundles, Legendary Pets, Cosmetics... If they made Runecoins their primary Premium Currency, and gave them just enough value to substitute TH, I'm sure the game would still thrive. Because those purchases would offer something for everyone, and having a set price tag over gambling for a reward, is what a majority of people would like to see.

Each of my three accounts yielded jagex $575 aud worth of bonds for the bankspace + first year sub, alongside $690 aud a year of upkeep between them, if I buy into a GIM account and immediately upgrade the bank space that's another $575 along with 3 renewals of premier this autumn. You and I pretty much answered the questions the same. I've played for 23 years. I don't really care about xp anymore. I would like to see more cosmetics, but not through treasure hunter. I haven't acutally spent money on this game in about 15 years. I for one liked the surveys for keys. In the last 2 years I have earned over 5k keys and 3k runecoins from those surveys just on my main. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this, but its all about how you answer the surveys. There is some merit to this. The issue many people have is that RS3 is already tainted by MTX, even if they remove it all there are thousands of players that bought their way to max total/120s/max xp. I think adding permanent fresh worlds (after MTX was removed) would attract players that don't mind the game/combat system but want hiscores to have integrity (so mainly former RS3 players)

I think a major problem in the community is a ton of people only care for bossing content and dont get hyped around new quests and lore. Jagex used to release a quest either once a month or once every other month and now its down to like 3 quests a year. I'd love more of the short and sweet quests to fill in some of the gaps of space instead of TH promos.

My biggest issue (not only) with MTX in Runescape, is how there is way too much of it. All the development time wasted on shitty treasure hunter promotions and stuff, just sucks. The game desperately needs more resources to keep the game fun and relevant, and getting rid of TH would free up time/resources for them to work on actual content that has value- and brings fun to players. And who knows, when Treasure hunter is gone, instead of being treated as one of their main ways to make (more) money - they can work on goals to make more money, by being creative and inspired to bring us more actual fun content, instead of treasure hunter stuff/promo's. I believe this to be essential for the long-term health of the game, and I feel like they'll make more money (long-term) by making the game better and more fun.

The questions in the survey feel weirdly worded. That said, i wish they didn't exclude the 3rd category of treasure hunter items: utility rewards. Not the protean items, not the skilling or combat dummies. The things like silver hawk feathers, magic note paper, springs. Those are now a core part of rs3, regardless of how they started their existence. That said, for the purposes of this comment, i rarely buy $20-30 of keys for obtaining cosmetics from th. Those wings in the latest promo are really nice. The diamond ruby emerald outfit promos also got me - but it's nice to have the cosmetic unlock guaranteed with the reward of the diamond tier chest. I miss the Solomon store being the best method of getting outfits. Those that could be recolored are great.

9:17 I don't know if they've ever done something like this, but imagine they did a "free week" that allowed F2P players to try P2P. I very rarely had the chance to pay for membership between 2008-2016, but the 2 or 3 months I did have membership, I really enjoyed the content--It encouraged me to eventually come back and pay for a subscription once I had my own money to spend 😂
