Did Jamie O'Brien and I just break a $10 Million Dollar SAIL GP Boat?

What an exhilarating experience training to sail on one of the fastest sail boats in the world! Thanks @SailGPUSA , If were never invited back we totally understand.
One thing that stuck out the most was the sound the F50 makes when soaring at 46 knots. You can hear the boat creaking, carbon flexing and foils screaming. What a fun trip with the legend. @JamieOBrienJOB

We have some friends that sailed for team USA in the early/mid 2000’s. We went out for a sail in San Francisco one year and I’ll be honest, dudes were pretty big dickheads. Massive egos, narcissistic bullshit everywhere, they seemed to be annoyed we even got to go with them. The boats these days are amazing, sure it was a great experience. I can’t imagine how much faster this is to a single haul sailboat, I’ve never been on a competition cat or tri.

When the instructor was getting them to use breathing gear, he gets them to talk so their lungs are empty before pushing them under. Not nice being underwater with empty lungs. Nice to see all the safety gear and training. I hope the electronics survived the dunking okay.

I haven't watched sailing since the '83 America's Cup and those sailboats don't have a fraction of the capabilities of these current boats. When I saw that boat turn on a friggin' dime and it took less than a couple of seconds to completely change course, I nearly shit my shorts.

They monitor the waters during practices and races and postpone or cancel any sailing if there are mammals in or near the relatively small designated course area. In the 3 years I’ve followed the sport I don’t recall a mammal being struck by one of the sailboats and it would almost certainly be noticeable if they did.

When i was young, i liked surfing and shooting, but i outgrew them. surfing is time intensive, and shooting is dangerous. in Hawaii, you have sun, rain and volcanic soil. grow grain and tropical plants and make medicine. Hawaii is the window to the west and strategic, make it an IT kingdom. With financing the world is yours.
