You don't have to spend a lot of time in New Orleans to realize we here love the pirate Jean Lafitte and the romantic legend that has sprung up around him. We've got bars named after him, we've got a wildlife refuge named after him. There's even a town in Jefferson Parish named after him.
That last point got reader Steve Ruiz thinking. He asks: Did Jean Lafitte the pirate ever live in Jean Lafitte the town? www.nola.com

Yesterday the anniversary of the Pirates being freed. For a chance for freedom for America and for them. I appreciate what you're doing. Pierre Alexander Frederick Lafitte the older brother the bar that bears their family name a blacksmith shop up front for the term that they coined accidentally or an inadvertently of fenced Goods trading with the nuns there are some ladies that have done for the research who believe he never died on the sea but lived a modest life from Mississippi Tennessee to North Carolina Masonic connections are always present from hellish bandidi to a trusted frenemy by the man who carried a musket ball for chivalry and honor to change his mind who was known to bend but never break pirate historian I am the gift of the Gap though Urban and oral tradition is my forte can back it up with historical research

Everyone in lafitte knows where the little temple is. South of Perot and rigolets north of little lake. Just look at a fishing map.

I dont think that route from barataria to NOLA is correct, that is down the Wilkerson canal and was not dug out for several years later.

In 1814 the British offered him $30,000 and to be a captain in the Royal Navy if he"d join them. He did not....⚔️⚔️⚔️ By the way, he spelled his last name with 2 "F"s.
