going line by line thru John's gospel, looking for an expected dozen or so familiar claims like "light of the world," "bread of life," and so on, I was taken aback when I was able to identify well over three hundred claims. (A claim being a assertion so unusual as to defy simple acceptance in ordinary parlance.) My son surprised me on Father's Day by publishing my Excel spread sheet in book form as a book, His Own Words. Love to see other's comments here. Available on Amazon as a print to demand.

No, He did not need to 'claim' it nor indeed to grasp it. He knows it, He said it, and He continues to call upon us to accept it .. through a divine favour - as Simon Peter did, in response to the Father's revelation with the guiding prompts of the Holy Ghost. Of course, all of this still makes no sense to the worldly mind, the spirit endarkening it, under the ruling principle it so eagerly accepts (one that it conjures up, and idolises, chiefly to satisfy itself). Keep the Faith; tell the truth, shame the devil, and let the demons shriek. God bless. ;o)

As always, Dr.Pitre, You point out the hidden Flower Bud amongst all the foliage; if i may be permitted to append, Tie in with St.Mark's 2: 6-8 (Who BUT "THE ONE" in _Sh'ma Yis'ra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad_ can know what the scribes present at "the happening" are not even 'mouthing', but only just "THINKING" in their hearts!?) with St.John's 14: 10-11 ("...the Father dwelling in me..."), to understand that "THE ONE" in "Sh'ma Yis'ra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad" IS INDEED Fully PRESENT IN THEIR MIDST...!!! St.John's Gospel depictions delve deeper into the Synoptic Gospels and expose the core of the record therein, of What JESUS Says And Does...as to throw Light upon The Divinity surrounding them, and which, St.John alone (in His Very Special Love-relationship with JESUS CHRIST) is able to explan, having understood it to the fullest extent!!

In the modern Jewish liturgy the translation God says to Moses "Hineni " or "Here I stand," or "Here I am". Is this what you are talking about with "ergo emi" ? It is a prayer in the Musaf service .... a prayer for hearing God, the prayer says to me .... the ability to discern God's presence.

Leviticus requires a blood sacrifice for the atonement of sins. The Jews have not performed an animal blood sacrifice since 70 AD. How can the Rabbi and Jews be saved over the last 2000 years?

Scholars like dr. Petri go out of their way to prove that Jesus claimed to be divine, but in the end it boils down to belief.

Only in the same way knowing that Ancient Rome existed or that dinosaurs roamed the Earth or that the core of Alpha Centauri is not a tropical oasis. Among the most primordial layers of our existence, one realizes all is a matter of faith and a matter of reason because we all have limitations. They must be conjoined to have any real meaning.
