Technically that is still true. You can own the most massive muzzleloading cannon on the planet and also own a monster volley gun with 36 barrels. You can own these and any other muzzleloading firearm with filling out paper work. If we really are interested in stopping anti-gunners we need to steer our culture to not worship violence. So long as we endorse violent movies and video games where the characters are using these firearms in good or evil ways, we will continue to see mayhem and anyone can see why people who don't like guns would see it as logical to ban these guns. No one can logically deny the effect violent media has on individuals to committ mass mayhem. There was a time when people owned plenty of m1 carbines but you didn't see this type of evil. During that time period how was violence depicted in movies? The characters used revolvers, shotguns and lever rifles.... Even though semi-automatic rifles existed.
