So in other words, Kobe Bryant didn't do anything to pressure his pilot. But his pilot are pressuring himself because Kobe is too nice for him. That's why pilots need to be professional in any case, and not mixing up emotional pressure with professional competence.

Wrong. Kobe fired his previous pilot for a safety delay getting more fuel than minimum. When you fire one pilot for safety delays, that is pressure on the next pilot. This is absolutely pressure from Kobe to ignore everything but his whims, and he killed people with his attitude.

I liked Kobe Bryant as a kid and loved tracking his point totals through the newspapers. It was a great shock for me when I learned he had been killed. I’ve already seen the episode and it gave me the closure that I wanted as a fan.

I remember hearing about Kobe dying. We were out celebrating my grandmas birthday and my cousin said that Kobe died in helicopter crash. We couldn’t believe it, he was so young and to know that his daughter was with him, it was sad.

Sadly, this is not the first time that spatial disorientation has killed people. It’s very hard to combat because your senses can fool you.

No matter what Kobe Bryant may have said, which I doubt he gave any pressure to pilots, the pilot is the one at the pilot's seat. He was responsible for the aircraft and the occupants. A driver does not speed up when a nasty little brat keeps saying, "Are we there yet?" over and over. I hate to say it. I think this was entirely pilot error.

Who cares who is fault the fact that both of them are friends and they both agreed to fly 45 mins early for me that is pressure enough. The pilot possibly admire Kobe on his work ethic and he tried to copy it. Do what ever it takes even flying 45 mins earlier than schedule. Imagine they fly at 9:45 instead of 9 kobe and people inside that aircraft are possibly still alive.

@@pauloaustria7798 The FAA definitly cares who was at fault. They even analyzed the wreckage for possible failure, ordered blood tests, looked and maintanence logs, flight plans, flight recorders, radar flight path, listened to radio communications, and much more.

VFR into IMC, followed by spatial disorientation and loss of aircraft control, is a sadly common cause of accident. It's occurred countless times when pilots didn't have "star passengers" aboard, and it's happened even while pilots were flying alone.

Yes I think he knew he should put it down but didn't! They say he had spatial disorientation ,& thought he was climbing when he descended & hit the hill at over 165mph. The autopsy reports show broken bodies & amputations!! Not worth pushing safety limits & killing everyone onboard just to make a game on time & impress a basketball legend!!

I was working at a convenience store in Reseda when this happened. The next day, Monday morning, a customer came in who worked at the Van Nuys airport, close to us. He said that the NTSB office was right next to his. The people from that office called him over and showed him footage from a security camera that showed the helicopter spinning wildly out of control as it fell out of the sky with the tail broken off. He said they speculated that the driveshaft to the tail rotor had collapsed. I believe this to be the truth as to what happened. But the pilot was dead anyway so just blame it on him rather than ground a whole fleet of expensive helicopters.

There is no such footage of the accident helicopter, and any speculation made the day after the accident, about a broken drive shaft, has since been disproven completely. By now, you have no basis for believing that notion. The accident was 100% pilot error.

If you want to know what really happened on that helicopter,then find out what was on the black box. They will never release what’s on it to the public. I heard, the pilot wanted to turnaround because of bad weather,but the owner of that helicopter said to keep going…….

I still don't understand how it crashed though ... It's in the sky, there isn't obstacles or objects in your way, yes occasional cell towers etc. But how did fog cause him to crash ? Keep the bird in the sky, why was that not done?

Without visual reference, a human cannot remain physically oriented. In an aircraft, that means the pilot can’t keep the aircraft upright. That’s why instrument-rated pilots are trained to fly by instruments alone, even in zero visibility. But the pilot in this accident was out of practice, and became spatially disoriented, and was no longer able to control the aircraft.
