For a man whos legacy has been so shaped by Nirvana he doesn't overly mention kurt, when he does and it goes to a deep memory like this you can always hear the emotion is still right there just under the surface. I respect grohl for a lot of reasons but one of the main ones is he does so well at honouring that legacy while not over sharing for self promotion. Hes always so respectful about his and kurts privacy, but he gives us so much of an insight just with the emotion with which he tells those stories

IMHO I feel that Kurt would have been immensely proud and supportive of the strides that Dave has made since his passing. I’m sure Kurt always knew that Dave had the talent to lead. I remember when I first heard that Dave was starting a new band post Nirvana. Given the gravity of this events, I was extremely cynical about him being a frontman. Foos 1st album? Only good Foo Fighters album imo. "good grief" "exhausted" "alone/easy target" "I'll stick around." It was like Nirvana's last album after "Hole's/"Live Through This." Yes, "Live Through This" is amazing cuz Kurt was behind it. Lol, Hole hasn't even made an ok album/song since.

I love Dave, I love Kurt, I love Krist, I love Nirvana. I hate the Nirvana/Cobain CULT fans. They always bad-mouth Dave. I think the reason for that is because their mentality is that Dave and Krist were nothing. That Nirvana was 100% all Kurt. For Dave to succeed afterwards, it's as ig that success shows he's (obviously) talented, and that could mean some of his talent was partially responsible for the success of Nirvana (which btw definitely is). But that would squash their belief of Kurt being solely responsible. And don't get me wrong. Without question, an overwhelming majority of the credit goes to Kurt. But even if a tiny, tiny bit goes to Dave, it irritates them to no end, because it takes away that God-like being they view Cobain as. (Sorry for the rant...I love hearing this story because I know the Cobain/Nirvana cult is seething over it, the fact that Kurt did see and appreciate Dave's talent!😊)

They you went from Nirvana to your big break sing- There Goes My Hero- OMG, what a downfall. Good thing ur bend made an auto correct but would still tske more Nirvana every day of week over Foo Fighters 💯. OG Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Mad Season ( band) too. Grunge is peak music post 1970s💯✌🏻

The foo fighters play such pop candy music. Wasn't their first video literally a rip off of a mentos commercial? Complete contrast to nirvana

I prefer Dave's songwriting VASTLY to Kurt's. I know, no one else will admit to it (and Kurt did write an occasional absolute masterpiece, I'll never suggest otherwise), but he writes great songs that are fun to listen to, play, and rage to. Some are pretty poppy, so? Some are deep as hell, and ALL are really, REALLY good.

Shocker! Cobain didn't like the lyric because it made too much sense and needed to be sung instead of whined. Loved the riff because it's a lot of fuzzy noise with little to no structure. Grohl was BY FAR the most talented member of that shit band but his pompous, phony humility, junkie of a lead singer kept all that talent locked up behind the kit because if it ever got out he'd get whiplash Grohl would pass him so fast. Instead it was more important to kill God's Music (Hard Rock & Hair Metal) with screaming nonsense for the kids that got beat up by girls in HS. If Cobain actually had a grave he'd be able to power Seattle as a turbine he'd spin so fast listening to Grohl's coherent catalog of hits.

In the early 90s, grunge was marketed very heavily as starving, misunderstood, tortured artists trying to be the voice of a cynical generation. You were constantly hit over the head with the idea pushed by MTV that these. People. Are. Important. It's only 30 years later, after the music industry has lost some prestige and (self) importance, that rock stars can be so relatable and open about their mistakes and personal struggles without glamorizing their pain or descending into pitiful self-parody in a VH1 "Behind the Music" stereotype.

Must have been very difficult to go through the loss of Kurt if you were Dave or Chris. Not only would you have to deal with what a person normally deals with when a friend dies but also everything that came along, the death of a megastar. And the megastar was in your band and you were huge, not easy. But you know what? But I wonder how Kurt Cobain would be seen today if he hadn't died. Of course, he would joined the rock star club of yesteryear and Nirvana would tour today. Of that there seems little doubt. But I don't know if he would be the legend that he's become. Okay, just imagine that Axl had died in 1990. How he would have been seen compared to how it turned out in real life.

FooFightets are most Over rated average band ever! But as a ex member of Nirvana, they scooped up all the sympathy of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana fans and rode that wave. If Dave was anything other than an average lyricist / singer...... he wouldn't have been only the drummer in Nirvana! Never bought a FooFighters Album ever, every song I've heard is so banal!! 🤔

If Kurt had had thoughtful time (scholarly exposure) to _the east coast_ ...and the women and culture of colonial America I think he'd probably be there right now. I_would ! The west coast can be scary and intimidating without a _normal_ or ideal childhood. . Come. Please-
