As a fat poc woman, I am devastated. I remember going to school and hearing her music in the locker/changing rooms. She truly made me feel so much more empowered and comfortable in my body. Watching this unfold lately has taken a toll on me. Obviously i side with the dancers and victims, but she was my idol, and it hurts to find out shes just another horrible person with money. With Lizzo’s lawyers releasing Arianna’s season 2 audition tape… that’s real shady. Like it’s an audition tape, she’s trying to get a spot on the show because at the time she hasn’t spoken out yet. I’d understand if she made this AFTER the lawsuit, but if it was before, she’s just trying to do her job and Lizzo is the only one giving these girls this big of a platform. The problem has always been that Lizzo takes vulnerable people she relates to and harasses them because they know they don’t have alot of options. This is an opinion I don’t agree with (regarding the tape). No responsibility to act perfectly should ever be put on the victim. She may have been desperate for a job. She may not even have realised that she was in an abusive situation (allegedly) because a lot of the time you don’t realise you’ve been mistreated until way later, or until someone helps you understand it. There could be a million reasons she re-auditioned, and none of those reasons change the fact that you can’t be an abusive employer.

tbh i dont really agree with you on the whole re-audition part. So many people can be shamed into staying where they work, not only obviously because they need the money, but because they might look at the experience like it's a one-in a lifetime thing. I remember with the whole Ellen controversy there were people who claimed that Ellen purposely talked about how lucky and grateful they should feel for the experience, and how other people would DREAM to even get considered for the job. Plus, maybe at the time she genuinely thought it was a good job, until realizing that this was in fact an abuse of Lizzo's power and that she needed to leave. Hollywood is a notoriously dark place, and abuse, depending on the person/place/etc, can be not only tolerated, but encouraged. It feels kinda victim-blamey to me. That being said, we still don't 100% know if Lizzo is guilty, but judging by both her response and the people coming out, I'd say the situation is weird. Sorry for the rant, just my thoughts

Watching the tape Arianna really wanted to be a break out artist. I don’t see it as much of a hailing lizzo for her character so much as a thank you for the opportunity. As she was saying big women don’t often get to headlines with their item back up dancers, and she seemed to have the blueprint, the contacts, the means to share that success. Note if she was like how people perceived her, it makes sense to think Lizzo would want to mentor other larger women, particularly Black, into being successful in a music career, however she chose to pin her dancers against each other to try to force the hardest work out of them. I know that a lot of people who talk about “work ethic” actually have shit work life balance, terrible boundaries, and will expect you to behave just like them or else you’re not “putting in the work” if you’re gaining weight, not crying, stay in to sleep. I’d swallow my tongue if my employer was a terrible person just to get the experience and industry contacts, but if I was being harassed and denigrated until I was fired by said employer after doing my best professionally, it makes sense to say something. Would I sue Lizzo in her place? Unsure I don’t know how much money this woman has or needs, but would I tell the world? If my employer was all about “equality and kindness” while harassing people about the exact thing they claim to be against? Absolutely. I understand her trying to give it two years, and that’s enough time I think for the dancers to have really thought about it from all sides which people claim to be inconsistent but I see as perfectly logical. It makes sense to step back and all of you’re the problem before moving forward, and I think Lizzo didn’t do that. She’s not being judged for her sexuality, she is being held accountable for coercion as an employer. I hate “my character has been judged and I’m devastated” like babe that is absolutely everyone’s right, judgement is cast on all people, and if it’s for something you really did you’re just being held accountable. It’s like when my six year old does something dangerous and I tell her it was bad and she cries and says “I don’t like when you make me feel this way” girl you did it and now it’s my turn to tell you. I’ve never been sexually harassed by a woman but I saw that dancer cry. Being taken to a weird club would have me eye roll but that girl was crying like someone who got embarrassed and assaulted. I’m not saying it’s like to the level of the weekend in the idol, but I’m sure that she really messed with those girls heads and made them feel like they weren’t enough, even if that was never her internet clearly she is too hard in herself and puts it in these girls and thought they just need to be thick skinned about it. First of all you're adorable with sharing your God given gifts lol But honestly this isn't the same as kissing @ss with an employer. This is a major celebrity. Maybe the biggest. Probably a personal hero. It probably took a lot for her to turn around and come forward after being mistreated. I don't think there's anything sus about it.
