I’ve been harping on this very thing. One of the worst schedules I remember. 2 cupcakes, a bye, another cupcake, then 9 conf. games in a 10-wk span, starting on the road. A whole month where you’re watching your national peers dig their teeth into the season, while you’re still mentally looking ahead to the “real season”. I hope they’ll be ready for the raised intensity @ MSU

The cheaters have a kid by the name of Josiah Stewart who was virtually unblockable the whole game and made Miller Moss’ life miserable. On passing downs, Martindale ran multiple exotic blitz packages and used speedy guys to get to the QB.

@@devinmckinney7716it’s the scheme. Remember last year Larry Johnson and Knowles had a little falling out that got brushed over. Larry recruits a specific style player and it’s not in Knowles playing scheme. If for some reason we lose this season it will because Knowles scheme gives up the home run hits and big holes. I like Jim but I’m not a believer in his scheme. It worked in the big 12 against sub par teams. But we shall see the remainder of this season and potential playoffs.

I knew there'd be a lot of overreactions. Calm down, everybody. Marshall is a well-coached team that brought in some good transfers. They'll be even more dangerous down the road as they sync. I hate the "this coach needs to be fired" and "I wouldn't let that guy play in my flag league" types. A few "Air Raid" teams can pull off some drives early but can't do it consistently. It's gimmicky, it's "splash some water here" to make you take your eyes off the keys. Eventually, teams adjust. It was a 2nd half shutout, remember. I thought you guys analyzed it well.

They miss Tylike. Hero Kanu isn't ready to be a full time starter he is still a bit green. The linebackers didnt play well. Marshall played WELL. This was their super bowl. This loss doesn't effect Marshall's conference race, it doesn't impact their ability to go to a bowl game which the current streak started in Huff's first year. They played with let it all hang out. JTT has got to step it up or face reduced playing time. He was TERRIBLE in that game. He allowed outside contain, gets absolutely NO Pressure at all in passing situations. Worst Ive seen him play in a while. The qb was simply playing if the 1st read isnt there, RUN. That is very difficult to deal with you have to cage rush instead of just pin your ear and go you have to contain rush. Marshall has a few NFL players that Green kid... OSU should reach out to him at the end of this year. Holy crow this offense is a horrific nightmare for opposing defensive coordinators... explosive in teh passing game, explosive in the running game... and they have more to install.... you have to almost just say dont give up the big play but that is easier said than done...

LBs look very average... They are the weakness of this D. Not nearly enough impact plays from them.

@@jimmy5634 I was specifically watching the LB's and Reece was no better than Styles yesterday. Both appeared to be not as aggressive and at times out of position. To be fair, the scheme up front didn't do them any favors either. I would continue to play Simon, Styles and Reece until they all improve their games...the Buckeyes are going to need them.

i do wonder if the heat may have bothered some players also. the turf too was so slick….think they said it was 140 degrees when they measuerd the turfs surface…and our D Line was missing one starter..but if we arent steong enough witha starter missing ? im saying we may have some trouble.

Hopefully the defensive coaches know the problems and address them. OSU has the players but seem complacent and out of position. Marshall is much better than Bowling Green, Arkansas State, Kent State, NIU and similar teams that Power 5 teams are struggling with

definately NOT the best defense in the country..not by a mile..sorry..im still not sold on Knowles…he still HAS NOT won those big games folks..so lets cool the jets on how great this is…because it sure didnt look that great to me in this game. liking that Arvil Reese kid, and a few others, but it just didnt look dominant, esp. at the D Line.

1. We learned that JT Tuimoloau is not the player we thought he was. 2. Rushing 4 on passing downs ain’t getting it done. (Watch what Mythagain did against USC.) 3. Jim Knowles does not react to what he is seeing on the field. 4. Jim Knowles is not the answer. 5. The linebacker play is inconsistent.

Styles and Reece are still learning plus the DT's did them no favors in the game. When you're playing young guys there will often be some ups and downs.

It's the same thing every year if we don't have a shutout you think the world is coming to an end. Everything is fine having a bye week the 3rd week of the season didn't help but weather you realize it or not Marshall is usually a top team in their conference. Relax the defense is fine. No depth at D Line ? What’s Larry doing ? I remember playing AT Texas in the Tressel Era, - both lines on both sides of the ball were rotated throughout the game with no drop off in performance . Haven’t had an elite pass rusher since C. Young and the Bosa Brothers.

These teams always show some funky stuff when they play us because they have nothing to lose. They spread it out and had a lot of qb run that was tough to defend. The defense had no rest or time to adjust on the bench because the offense scored so quickly. They are a top defense.

First let me say I’m not an Ohio state fan fan I hate them but these non conference games didn’t do anything to show weaknesses for this team it’s hard to get up for bad teams and keep the pedal down when you know you’re going to win big. As much as I hope they choke again I don’t see more than a hand full of teams who can beat them and none of those teams are in the big 10
