Why does any of this matter. Michael Cohen was hired by Trump as a licensed Professional Attorney. He was supposed to be counsel, not a subordinate. He never told Trump it was illegal to submit this NDA agreement. That was his job, that is why he is licensed for hire. If this NDA was so egregiously illegal why didn't Cohen the lawyer not know? If he DID know it was illegal he should have abjured and submitted the reason to Trump in writing. Cohen submitted all the NDA documents on his own volition and under the liability of his license, then billed Trump for legal expenses. Trump was not the professional licensed lawyer. Cohen was.

The NDA isn't illegal at all. They happen every day in corporate America, for affairs and worse like in cases of sexual harassment in the workplace. Happens probably every day. Paying her hush money was 100% legal which is why the exact crime alleged is that he falsified a record by saying the payment was for legal fees. Which is a misdemeanor and the statute of limitations ran out years ago. But they are using a part of the law that says if the record was falsified to conceal another crime it's a felony and the statute of limitations is longer, the crime they allege he was concealing was "election interference." Completely bogus considering candidates try to manipulate the election to go their way, that's literally what campaigning is all about. And it's also a bogus because the Trump Organization used a software to make these financial records that had a limited number of options to choose from when selecting the category of the payment, you can't enter your own category and have to pick one so it went under "legal expenses" because it was a payment to his lawyer. If there was no record of this payment they would have no case because the Trump Organization is owned by Trump not shareholders, so he can do whatever he wants with the company money, the records are just to keep track. Funny how until the election came, several prosecutors including Alvin Bragg himself thought there was nothing to this case and didn't bring it to trial because they had no crime.

In my LE agency, if an officer is found to have falsified a report or lied under oath, he/she was immediately terminated, as he is no longer trusted to write an official report or testify in court about events he/she is witness to.
