Fireflies aside, does anyone else prefer the way clay pots were supposed to be made during minecraft live? I personally would want to do that, it makes it feel like you’re forming and firing a new pot yourself with old shards rather than having a crafting table just put the shards together.

What we have now is nice and all but why no corner customization? Where is the colorized shard? I feel like if they left what we have as being the "Desert Pottery" and more vibant biomes having access to more dye ingredients as the 2020 Archeology Update for more flashy vases... And mixing optional. Keeping both, cultural diversity among ancients would add even more potential stories and speculative lore to imagine even more tales from your digging along the trails. Also why no corner pieces? They already proved it could be done- could it be just too much of a strain on the system to keep track of the intricate versions? I thought it was kinda sad to see such an elaborate art block be reduced by four slots and being just dark brown carvings.

​@@superwhatevergamin9634 No matter the angle you percieve the pot from, with corners in place the edges of its visible surfaces will use the shard textures but cut in half. These framing the central texture looked awful, comparatively to textures actually designed for framing. I'm uncertain if this is why the corners were removed; it could also have been to balance quantity of shards necessary to craft a pot, with the revamp of its crafting process. In any case there's one reason. I agree with your other points. The lack of color is very disappointing; even a blanket dye of the full pot and its shard textures would add so much life to builds using the feature.

The artist in me thought at first that the mistake was some left over color swatch to quickly color pick when working on coloring it in the key areas, as we artists usually put colors on the screen next to our projects (to make it faster to navigate picked colors), buuut looking at this now they may just did a woopsie, colored the wrong spot and missed the other lol.

I always been sad with what happened to the firefly, I think mojang is confused on how to implemented it, like a mob that is a particle, If I have to code it I always though I would make a Mob made of various particles, and depending on its size it has more life, so if the player attacks it or interacts with it this value changes and it shows more or less fireflies, also I have thought it would be interesting if two of those mobs could fuse into a bigger one, so instead of have multiple mobs you can have one with a hight value so it appears to be a bigger one, so its aittle more optimised.

An S Tier decorative block got demoted to B Tier with just a handful of changes. No colorful terracotta shards, no corner slots, and no fire-hardened creation. Heck, making Campfires part of a new Pottery Kiln crafting station to add a new villager job would've made it even better. A new Artist villager for builders would be cool af.

Minecraft 3D Models work differently. They are composed of rectangular prisms that always have all 6 sides, with each always mapped to a texture UV position. There is no way to just remove a side so it'll just be there.
