I just finished watching them. And I have to say these videos were uploaded at a good time. Literally last week I started a discussion on the Yahweh, El, Moses, Abraham, etc... and their historicity. And no one in the discussion brought up Christ or the prophet Muhammad. Because everyone was sure they existed lol Although I remember years ago some guys had other crazy sources regarding the life of the prophet Muhammad. One of them believed the word "Muhammad" was actually used as a title for Christ. Another believed that he was from Syria/Palestine (the Levant) instead of Mecca and Medina. And another believed that he was a fabrication and didn't exist in the first place. It's safe to say that those are fringe theories. And the academic consensus was that he existed. Another interesting discussion (theory) is about Christ and his relation to the Pharisees. As well as the dead sea scrolls in general. I also have to add that there are many crazy theories on Christ. Like him being euhemerised myth and so on

Your channel, as well as those of “Let’s Talk Religion,” “Esoterica,” and “Religion for Breakfast” do excellent work. I’m especially glad that I found yours. I’m a Christian myself (I often call myself a “heretical Protestant” somewhat jokingly), but I have a deep fascination with and love for the world’s many faiths and their histories. (And I especially love the mystical dimensions of religion.) Islam is a faith with which I’ve always felt an especially deep kinship, having studied it for almost twenty-two years. It’s excellent to see more Muslims engaging with Islamic history and it’s major figures, ideas, and movements. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber. Terrible if people jump to takfir or name-calling tbh. I love Al-Muqaddimah's channel and it has educated me to a whole other degree concerning Islamic history; however, he said some questionable stuff in other videos that are obviously based off orientalist beliefs. One example is that he stated (using western English sources) that it was common for Caliphs to drink wine. Only if he knew, Islamically, how major of a statement that is--to claim a Caliph or any fellow muslim to doing a major sin without any reliable proof. Al-Mu'tadid (the Admin) states that they were excused to drink alcohol; however, there is nothing in the primary sources (of those time periods) that mention wine drinking. It only appears in the works of orientalists later on, the same works that tried to portray Caliph Al-Ma'mun as a homosexual (because he didn't fool around with the Harem women as much as others). Also, as Al-Mu'tadid rightfully mentioned, Caliphs used to lead the Friday Prayer for the muslims. Now, any muslim with a lick of knowledge in jurisprudence would know that the consuming of alcohol nullifies prayer for forty days, so how could the Caliph lead the prayer, with thousands following him, if he had drank the very previous nights? Anyways, that is my only critique, there may be one other, concerning this account; however, perfection belongs to Allah (swt) and I hope that Al-Mu'tadid or the owner of this channel will fix this mistake.

@Arif Ahmed Khan This depends a lot on how you define "prophet". In the biblical tradition, a prophet is someone who speaks with and for God. Joshua would satisfy this, but not David or Solomon, IIRC. I don't have all the scripture memorized, but I don't recall any accounts of David or Solomon ever speaking directly with God, or having God speak directly to them, but rather they were counseled (and often rebuked, esp. in David's case) by a prophet of the time.

Accordingly, this undermines your credibility and unveils your false human feelings and malicious intentions under the pretext of defending the rights of woman. if you were really seeking denouncing such marriage, they should have spoken about such marriage as a general phenomenon which appeared before Islam and continued after it and would not focus their criticism on one person as if he was the one who invented such marriage or the first one who applied it or the only one who did it. prophet Muhammad - peace and blessings of Allah be upon him - was born in a society in which early marriage was something ordinary and natural, therefore, he married the way others did. moreover, his enemies, who tried to kill him, did not use such marriage as a pretext to distort his picture or instigate against him because it was an ordinary matter in such era. The marriage in early ages was prevailing in Europe itself, especially the early marriage of kings and rulers in the twelfth century for the purpose of creating alliances guaranteeing the continuity of peace. An example for that is the empress Anias, in France, the wife of two Byzantine Emperors: Emperor Alexius Kamanis II, and the Emperor Andronikos Kamanos I, respectively. According to (William of Tyre), Anias was just eight years old when she reached Constantine while Alexios was thirteen years old (1). Moreover, the wife of Alexios Kamanos I was twelve years old when she married and became an empress before attaining fifteen years. As for the empress of Byzantium Theodora the wife of Manwel, she was thirteen years old when she married the Prince of Jerusalem Baldwin III moreover, Margret Maria Hingaria married Izak Anglos II when she was nine years. Also put in mind she reach and finished puberty making her by definition not a child(pre-pubescent) Read sahih Bukhari 476. The definition of a P3d0 is a psychiatric disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children. The whole point was to view it from modern historical standards and from unbiased account, not considering Muslim authors. Comments mentioning Hadith as sources loose the point of the video. As a Muslim we all believe that the Hadith and the knowledge of it has immense merit and are true. But the objective approach demands the researcher to be outside the argument, reporting the findings on what there is, not on what he/she thinks. There are plenty of Muslim researchers who are open to both religious and non-religious interpretations and ideas. From the sunni community, I can name Mohammed Hijab, Hamza Tzortzis, Omar Suleiman and many others. A researcher named Nouman Ali Khan recently did a series comparing the story of Prophet Joseph in the Bible and the Quran. Also, I follow a shi’i scholar named Sayyed Kamal Al-Haydari who studies both secular and religious, also sunni, shi’i, sufi etc, sources. It’s too bad his lectures are only in Arabic and aren’t translated yet. You would have a hard time finding them because main stream academia promotes only the conservative and strict scholars. @@Goodguy507 As a universalist, I doubt that all Muslims will be punished. But all humans will be judged. Sorry for the weirdo attacking you though. He's a vocal minority. Your attack on Christianity however utterly fails. A willing sacrifice for the sake of many isn't the same as fighting. This is similar to a strawman. You misrepresent the crucifixion as a failed rebellion (Jesus wasn't as violent as Mohamed. Even Muslims should grant that The Prophet Isa was peaceful) when in reality it was a simple means to an end. This end being the salvation of humanity. Jesus was Pacifistic and had no intention of harming his creations. Why would a pacifist fight against a willing sacrifice? Why would a Father harm his ignorant and angry kids whom he knows doesn't know any better? It's like saying you have no respect for a fire fighter who sacrificed his life to save people from a fire because he died in it by willingly putting his life on the line. This is a misunderstanding of Christian Theology on your part. Granted, I don't hold to fast to penal substitution as I'm far more a fan of Christus Victor. God punishes people severely and orders his followers to violently attack his enemies in the Old Testament. There is no Rishi or Prophet of any religion in the world, whose entire history is available to us. But about Prophet Muhammad, even the begrudging Christian historian professor Hitti, had to acknowledge that *he was the only one of the world prophets to be born within the full light of history."* - History of the Arabs (chapter 8, page 3)

Long comment warning..... After finishing the video, I think you are very dismissive of hadith reports on his life, yes most of the original hadith records were physically lost, but that ignores the fact the main way of transmitting books at the time was oral, and since thousands of students would memorise the hadiths from the original author, even if some got some of it wrong when recording it in a book, the error would be found quickly when comparing it with other sources, Abdullah bin omar recorded hadiths during the lifetime of the prophet, many of which his servant nafi' learned, and malik bin anas was a student of nafi', so only two men came before him when he recorded hadiths in his book al-muatta'(I've butchered the spelling) and he wasn't the first one to record hadith, many earlier sources recorded it, yes the original records are gone, but again physical writing down of books was considered a secondary way of saving them, memorising them was the main way, and because thousands of people did it, the chances a mistake would go unnoticed are low, especially how the prophet promised severe punishment for those who lie on his behalf, people were afraid of making mistakes when writing those hadiths down, and all the narrators of authentic hadith are known people who scholars of hadith know their names, background, knowledge, capacity for memorisation, throughout a very detailed process, even if it wasn't 100% correct, dismissing it would be like dismissing any record on Alexander the great's life because all surviving records are after his time and all of them were written by his successors who needed political legitimacy so they obviously didn't give a very accurate record, but that doesn't mean we can just dismiss it and say we know nothing about his life

Great video. I have an innocent question here. At some point you have said that the historical account of the life of the prophet is not to the point of drawing an academically accepted picture of his life, I wonder if there are any premodern figures whose biographies stand to these standards. I always had this "preassumption" that the biography of the prophet is one of the most recorded in premodern history.

One of the most interesting 7th century accounts about Prophet Muhammad comes from Sebeos who was a Bishop of the House of Bagratunis. Sebeos is the first non-Muslim author to present us with a theory for the rise of Islam that pays attention to what the Muslims themselves thought they were doing: *At that time a certain man from along those same sons of Ishmael, whose name was Mụhammad, a merchant, as if by God's command appeared to them as a preacher and the path of truth. He taught them to recognize the God of Abraham, especially because he was learnt and informed in the history of Moses. Now because the command was from on high, at a single order they all came together in unity of religion. Abandoning their vain cults, they turned to the living God who had appeared to their father Abraham. So, Muhammad legislated for them: not to eat carrion, not to drink wine, not to speak falsely, and not to engage in fornication. He said: 'With an oath God promised this land to Abraham and his seed after him for ever. And he brought about as he promised during that time while he loved Israel. But now you are the sons of Abraham and God is accomplishing his promise to Abraham and his seed for you. Love sincerely only the God of Abraham, and go and seize the land which God gave to your father Abraham. No one will be able to resist you in battle, because God is with you.* *- R. G. Hoyland, Seeing Islam As Others Saw It: A Survey And Evaluation Of Christian, Jewish And Zoroastrian Writings On Early Islam, 1997, p. 129* We can see that Sebeos knows plenty of personal information about Prophet Muhammad. For example, he is aware that Muhammad was a merchant by profession before his Prophethood. He hints that his life was suddenly changed by a divinely inspired revelation. He presents a good summary of Prophet Muhammad's preaching i.e belief in One God and Abraham as a common ancestor of Jews and Arabs. He even picks out some of the prohibitions which are mentioned in the Qur'an, such as false speech and drinking of alcohol. All this information that Sebeos presents accurately conforms to the Islamic traditions. Many take such detailed, early and accurate accounts about Prophet Muhammad for granted but it's actually quite rare with figures from ancient history.

@@worfoz That's subjective and on common ground arguable whether it's offensive or not, actually it shouldn't be offensive to you and the reason is simple, we don't know how did the Prophet (peace be upon him)actually look like so any depiction would not reflect the reality which in your case whether depicted or not wouldn't benefited you in some way while for us Muslims it is offensive because not only it does not and could not represent the real Prophet of Islam (peace be upon him) it then add to the disrespect that could be done onto his character which you may not grasp and that's your value not ours. However, allow me to ask you why would it be offensive to you? My take is that the only reason you claim it is offensive is because somehow you feel like your liberty of expression is being repressed or that your value is not given a priority, wouldn't you agree with that?
