If you can, replace ALL hoses! My 99 had the same issues after I turbocharged it and one by one the old 22 year old hoses starting breaking off. I spent a good week or so trying to diagnose where my final leaks were. Apparently there are two coolant hoses going to the oil filter cooler (pain to replace). But since then NO leaks at all. Some good preventative maintenance doesn’t hurt anybody 👌

Had my heater hose blow, loads of steam. The CAS (Cam Angle Sensor) has an o-ring that commonly leaks, dripping down onto the heater - rear engine hose and it eventually degrades it.

Yes and no, the mazdaspeed kit is good if you dont want any more than say 180hp. It's restricted by ecu, turbo doesnt spool to well, the exhaust is restrictive etc. Basically if you wanted more power you would have to buy a turbo kit anyway.

On thanksgivings I had a 3 hour drive home from visiting family and I drive a 1990 accord ex. I wasn’t speeding (65mph) but I went from 4th to 5th because i had just got to the top of a decent hill I was climbing and right as I got over to 5th I heard a grind and a pop followed by something dragging on the ground, I immediately put it in neutral and attempted to slow down and pull over but my brakes went completely stiff. At the time when I stopped I left the car running for about 2 minutes to look around for issues it sounded fine no smoke and nothing dragging on the ground at all and when I turned the car off I made sure to check and shift through all the gears and everything felt fine clutch felt the same and I just waited for the tow truck, was a 2 hour tow home to my uncles house where I live. Days later I went to try and turn over the car (keep in mind I haven’t tried to to start since it happened.) Engine wouldn’t turn over, so I jacked it up found the crank pulley. I can turn the pulley roughly 140 degrees both ways before it completely locks up. I have yet to drain the oil to look at it or take off the pan because I would need to drop the brace or ig sub frame under the pan? I really hope I didn’t grenade my engine but it does smell horrible when I take off the oil cap so probably… I will note I bought it as a project car I wanted to clean up and have a nice daily to drive. But only issue I ever had prior was starting it every time the engine is cold I would need to continuously pump the throttle while turning over to start and it would just die or stall if I didn’t rev it up to around 2.3k rpm until the engine was warm. I believed this caused to much wear on the cylinder rings and just wore it out completely.. I can’t work without a car because I drive for doordash and it’s easy considering I’m 18 and still a senior in Highschool and need to be home to help with my little cousin so a real job isn’t practical for me especially in my area when the only jobs available are warehouse jobs for swing shifts from 3pm-12am 5 days a week. Meaning without a car I can’t work and if I can’t work I don’t have money to fix my car or get it to a shop. The situation couldn’t be more comical. But if anyone has any clue as to what exactly happened it would really help. Also I forgot to mention that what ever broke wasn’t a cv axle they are still there and I can’t seem to find what broke off and was dragging. So please wisdom of the comment section help! If I’m unable to get the car fixed I will be selling it for a couple hundred bucks it’s slammed with a near perfect interior for its age just don’t know what broke F22a2 engine with 5 speed manual. Please help!

There's a company in the UK who do a kit for a V6 swap using the Duratec 3.0L V6 engine. They're called Rocketeer. They make a proper adapter plate for the gearbox etc a new subframe, ECU everything. 👍🏻 you can either buy just the kit parts and source the engine yourself or they will build you an engine from the AJ30 version of the duratec v6 which is from a Jaguar, jts the highest quality one. 😊

I put 4000 miles on a bad headgasket with no smoking and no oil mixing. It broke along the coolant/exhaust passage but was pushing exhaust into the coolant. That made me not burn but lose coolant by shooting it out of the reservoir under pressure. Headgaskets are complicated...

Hahaha funny same happened to my 94 NA just a little different issue, literally sitting in traffic you’d hear a hissing noise and it would smoke for like crazy for a minute or two and since I live in Vegas Miata’s aren’t the greatest at cooling even tho koyo rad did design the radiator from factory and I ended finding out that my heater core hose was rusted and brittle, while since Miata’s top part of the radiator is plastic they tend to have a blockage and they get worn out and I replaced both of them and I went with a all aluminum radiator same brand koyo rad but the 36mm and all overheating issues went away :)!
@imnota3 жыл бұрын
Haven't watched everything, just Jeryn describing and my bet is heater core hoses, super common on Miatas, they blow up, steam goes everywhere, coolant goes on the exhaust, and if you have a blow shifter boot the smoke can come through there. Edit : I am so big brain. No but to be fair I hang out around miata forums a lot and it's an insanely common issue, it's not my diagnosing skills that helped me, those hoses are too close to heat and just dry rot excessively fast, most people put fire sleeve over them. Also please get a tool bag to throw in your truck, it's a truck god dammit, it's the kind of vehicle in which you should always have tools, I don't even understand how simply going to a store a few miles over to get a 10mm wasn't your first idea and that you'd rather rip the bumper off.

Miata trans tunnels get more hot than usual, its normal, also the smoke coming out the center also explains the heat coming out the center meaning the shifter seal is broken

When a car is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust pipe that generally means that you are burning oil! Talking from experience because one day when I was going to get my oil changed in my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6. They had finished my car's oil drain and fill-up. I was heading over to the blain's farm and fleet to go pick up mulch for my new house. in the meantime something feels incredibly off. my engine is stuttering like crazy. I pull into the Blain's farm and fleet, there is a sh*t ton of oil on the ground under my parked car. something like 3 quarts. I acquire my mulch. then I leave, next thing I know. I look behind me there is a hell of a lot of smoke. I pull back into the oil change depot, after about 5 feet into their property. my car's engine COMPLETELY locks up. when they were originally replenishing my cars oil they put 13 quarts of oil in my car instead of the 5.42 quarts my car needed. there was a good 600 feet of smoke down the highway and 30 feet of oil down the driveway of the oil place's property... Shop local they said, it'll help the community they said. just stfu and don't tell me where to shop again!
