Circus Baby wasn't always a sidekick. As a matter of fact, she used to have one of her own! Or many or her own. Or still sort of does. We're talking about the Bidybabs today. Remember them? Perhaps not, but let's bring you up to speed on them and their "cuter" cousins, the Plushbaby(s).

It's crazy how overlooked these things are. I remember the Bidybabs seriously freaking me out when watching a playthrough of their segment in Sister Location. And then they were never really seen again..

10:53 As someone who frequently explores the Pizzaplex out of bounds using the debug menu, I can confirm there is indeed a hidden room with shelves full of Plushbabies. It's locked behind a voicebox-activated gate in the utility tunnel at the beginning of the game, directly across the opposite side from the first aid room. There are numerous other Help Wanted themed rooms as well, including Build a Mangle, Mangle's Vent Repair, what appears to be Freddy's Parts and Service, and the Curse of Dreadbear title screen.

So here’s something extremely weird about Bidybab in Help Wanted: she’s not just a weird statue. No, she’s watching you throughout multiple points in the game. You mentioned her hidden cameos in Circus Baby’s level, but you can actually hear her speaking in Funtime Freddy’s level. Plus, Plush Baby’s level was originally intended to be Bidybab. It seems like Bidybab was intended to have an extremely recurring role in Help Wanted that was bizarrely toned down and not mentioned by the game at all. What’s even weirder is that Help Wanted went out of its way to only include voice lines for four characters, the other three of which have some role in Security Breach. Funtime Freddy is the face of the Blob, Nightmarionne has plushies everywhere, and Baby has a lot of references littered throughout the game. Is this all a coincidence? Probably but who knows, maybe they’re actually planning something for Bidybab. Plus Bidybab’s one line in Help Wanted, I’m pretty sure, is “I will find a way inside.”

They're so similar in my opinion, it's not surprising the Bidybabs are less popular when you take into account how nobody ever cared about them while the plush babies had way more presence from the get-go and cool levels, although frustrating at times. I'd say the Bidybabs are a bit more uncanny in their design but the plush babies are just the same basic idea used more frequently so I might prefer them overall (I don't really care much about any of them anyway).

The design of Help Wanted kind of feels like the bidybabs were meant to be in place of the plushbabies to begin with, particularly in Baby's level of Night Terrors, where you're waiting in the closet. There's even an easter egg of a bidybab, fully modelled and rigged for animation, that can appear posed in the room in that level and no other. The plushbabies have a similar taunting series of voice lines, they work as little miniature versions of Baby herself, and the whole 'scare them off before they overwhelm or sneak up on you' thing makes sense for them.

My first thought when I looked at the biitybabs/minrinnas from a lore perspective, is that Afton made all these extra little animotronics so that there would be always be a chance that the victim's soul would attach to something that he could study, meaning that sooo many children lost their lives to the funtimes

Yes, there's definitely a room in Security Breach that's got a lot of Plushbabies on the shelves, so I don't think you made that up. You have to use the upgrades to open the gates and walk into it in the dark, so I think people just aren't that bothered to explore as muc, but I definitely saw that room too in the Switch release 👀

I think part of the reason why the Bidybabs are so ignored, aside from their lack of screen time, is the fact that they share a lot of general similarities to Balloon Boy, in appearance at least. Both are small, attempt to mimic (hah) children in proportion and “skin” color, and their gameplay is pretty annoying too. IIRC hating on BB had stopped way before SL, but that sense of dread small, humanoid animatronics inspired in people still carried over to these guys, which is probably why they were forgotten as soon as they were introduced. No one wanted to deal with BB’s weird reject cousins. Very nice video! And let me just say that the content you’ve been putting out has been consistently amazing, which is very respectable and rare to find these days. I don’t mean to put pressure on you, but I hope you’re proud of yourself, ‘cause you’ve earned each and every one of those subs, and you have this wonderful community to prove it! Cant help but feel that the bidybabs were replaced with Plush baby’s due to marketing reasons. I know we’ve gotten plenty of frankenplushes over the years but I genuinely dont think they could’ve reasonably recreated the Bidybabs due to how uncanny they are. Which is incredibly disappointing considering that this is supposed to be a horror series. I’d much rather have the Bidybabs’ story being expanded upon (like why tf did William seriously make them? Are they haunted? Are they fcked up AI? What are they man?) than getting Plushbaby merchandise. Sad 😢

What if the plush babies are essentially completed biddy babs. I mean the biddy babs look incomplete as they are literally two toned in color. I could see whoever ran the rental location stuffing them in circus baby dolls in attempt to keep the name without circus baby after enard escaped. Overall that’s my best guess, I just think they went with whoever Funtime chica went. Along side yendo with a shell maybe with bonnet, the minirinas, and probably music man as I bet he has some connection to Funtime chica. Overall it just depends on what happened to circus baby’s entertainment and rentals after the events of sister location.

So fun fact: Steel Wool reused the Bidybabs dialogue in Help Wanted. In Funtime Freddy's minigame, you'll sometimes hear said dialogue as if it was coming from Bon-Bon. Despite the fact that Bon-Bon has his own lines in the Breaker Room sequence. Just throwing that out there.

You know, I wonder why the Bidibabs were even made. Like, in the Watsonian and Doylist senses. The hell was Peepaw Willy thinking when he designed these things? Why invest resources into a toddler sized robot that someone could easily run off with? And in the other sense, they really only show up in Night 1. Yes, they're also in the Custom Night with the Electrobabs (which are even more baffling imo, considering that's an enemy slot that could have been taken by Circus Baby) but they never show up again in that game. They could have been replaced with Minireenas and the game would arguably be better for it. Like "oh shit, the little bastards who tried to get into my hidey-hole on Night 1 are now crawling all over the Springlock suit"

A cool retcon/expansion of the biddybabs could be to have them be the endo versions of the alphabet clown kids [BB, DD, JJ etc], or at least the raw shells, maybe in the real-world [to my FazProp theory] allegory to the Mangle story: in the actual pizzaria [or maybe an intended thing for CBPW] the birthday child could paint and name their own Bidybab [a build a BB workshop, if you will] Yes this comes directly out of whole cloth, but it might be a fun use for them. Of course as far as my FazProp theory goes, the bidybabs are just cover-up unless they appear in an 8-bit mini-game, an epilogue story, or a part of a steel wool game not explicitly stated to be an in-universe videogame. The Plush Babies are harder to pin down. as the Steel Wool story seems to be more about AI rampancy and less ghost kids, basically the Child's Play re-make where Chucky was a malfunctioning furby. Their appearance in the AR world could be remnants of the Glitchtrap/Mimic1 virus still re-enacting the games. Them not in an in-universe game [the HW stuff] or in the Glitch World would imply actual ghosts [or steel wool breaking Scotts rules and doing random cameos to sell merch]

I watched this as a Plushbaby owner and semi fan, I think the Plushbabies are cool ideas, taking influence from the haunted doll trope, I do miss the Bidybabs, I think they were neat, IDK why but they remind me of Goombas from Super Mario, little slightly brownish grunts for the big bad. It's noteworthy that the bidybab in Baby's render, the one with its faceplates open, actually has green eyes. Since we never see any blueprint of them, nor even where they're stored aside from possibly on Baby's stage (though I wouldn't trust animatronics that small to take the shocks it would require for subduing something the size of Baby very well), since we never see said stage, we don't know if they have some sort of remote connection to Baby, though it can be reasonably assumed they should if even Ballora does - possibly they functioned as extra surveilance for her, similar to how Bon-Bon's sole purpose for Freddy is to give him multiple fields of vision. It would certainly be interesting if the bidybabs had a more constant presence, but sometimes would be taken over by Baby, their eyes turning green like hers, to guide you or remove the threat they pose. The plushbabies could've been replaced with the bidybabs, but I feel like it wouldn't have worked in all scenarios. The flashlight sections they're so notorious for wouldn't make as much sense to have animatronics as it does possessed plushes, but they work well in the closet - which is also specifically the time you're fighting them _alongside_ Baby herself, the two complimenting one anothers' strategies. Given the bidybab model.. well, it's as low-quality as all the other Funtime models in HW, but it does exist and appears to be fully rigged for animation, I suspect it was intended for this very purpose. Hell, the closet section resembles the bidybabs' own in SL - desperately hold the door closed while not making eye contact, and try to weather the storm. You're in the same facility, after all, given what SL's maps show about that bedroom. (I always wanted a 'private room' section in HW where the Nightmares and Funtimes are used there too, it feels like it would've fit well for the same reasons.) The plushbabies also have some lines unique to them, such as "Nobody loves you" and so forth. They're rather brutal with their words compared to some of Baby's lines. Oh, The Fourth Closet. The book where Blacktime Freddy, the hollow black-and-grey Funtime Freddy suit cut from SL Custom Night and then from UCN too, appears encasing Yenndo, and got replaced by Funtime Freddy in the graphic novel only, rather than in the novel itself. Though I still appreciate the unique design of the Funtime Mangle in the book, which was also completely shafted by the graphic novel not sticking to any of the original details - a running theme that also applies to the knife endoskeleton, Baby's endoskeleton, the remains of the classic band and several of the human characters - I think the bidybabs, for their tiny role, are fairly accurately portrayed. They chew on the mangle-thing for a bit when it gets tangled in a net and dropped in the ballpit they're all stuck in, and then don't show back up. I don't think they're in the ending sequence against Afton, at that point it's just the wire-pile that is what's left of Blacktime Freddy and the lightly damaged fox, both of whom refuse to follow his orders and then the big amalgam kills him.

I feel like the biddybabs are the base animatronic for the baby crawlers. Theyre so plain that they look like they could be turned into almost anything, so it'd make sense for the baby crawlers to be so different from each other and clown themed to match circus baby. Hay I just wanted to say I found that room you were talking about (the one in the basement of SB with all the plushbabies). If you’re familiar with Superhorrobros you’ll know he does a bit of FNaF content. He made a video about a year ago talking about all the FNaF Easter eggs and secrets. I think the video is called all Secrets and Easter Eggs in FNaF SB or something along those lines. If had Vanny on the thumbnail if you want to go find it and watch it. Wouldn't mind some consolidation. Plush Baby's design is better, lends itself better to personalization, and more strongly tied to Circus Baby. Feel that the permanently rictus grinning plushes with empty eyes hinting the at the fear of torture compelling their obedience also would have more of an impact. A patchwork of repairs that hint where they've been gutted open or had a limb twisted off. So easy to fix, only needle and thread. So easy to break again.

I, HATE, these guys. Like, what pinhead spent the money for these things and didn't think to themselves "Huh, kids could easily break these things"? Not to mention, babies? Babies? You could've based an animatronic on literally anything, and you choose babies?? I get Circus Baby's deal, she's part baby, part clown, part ice cream dispenser. But her underlings? No way that I'd find that appealing to children. Sorry, felt like I needed to get this off my chest xD

Personally sister location was always my favorite fnaf game because I like the characters but if help wanted 2 actually gives the characters more build up and possibly interaction I think that would be cool, my favorite funtimes were between ballora and Funtime Freddy, idk why but I always had a au head canon that ballora was good and tries to help instead of kill (showing that like the puppet and glamrock Freddy their can be good animatronics), I’ve also imagine her being replaced by Funtime chica when the funtimes make ennard so ballora can still be around, I also imagine that she also frees and repurposes and leads the minor funtimes such as yenndo, bonnet, lolbit, the bidybabs and minireenas to help her.

It’s very funny to think that there’s some kinda pecking order in place at Sister Location. As if these murder-bots have some sorta hierarchy with the Biddybabs being the lowest of the low. The Electrobabs feel like when you face a recolored elemental version of an early game enemy in an RPG. When’re they gonna introduce Electroreenas?

Bidybabs are actually my favorite SL animatronics. They're just neat.

Fun fact: the Bidybabs have the same actress as British Elizabeth (Naqvi) and I don't think she's been in another game since unlike Masters... While Afton being British could be just evil stereotype, it might've mainly been just a clue as him and Elizabeth with that same accent would have us link them as father and daughter. William doesn't seem British for the movie but what if he wasn't for the novels either? Almost wonder if his kids were ever in England and moved to the US for Fazbear's... I saw that the blue plushies have a little tear on the chest, (carried over to what I may call Plushscraps) and the yellow ones are missing their right eye. I may wonder if in could be a reference to Nanygama who drew a grieving and recovering Baby with this injury. The Plushkin Patch also gives them some new lines: "who wants... ice cream?" "I can SEE you..." Indeed the Plushbaby room is in SB, likely to fill in for the many cut utility tunnels below everything. It's at the bottom of the initial stairs opposite the first aid station, contains a smiling Moon comedy mask (tragedy in Gator Golf hut), and one of the few gates for Chica's voicebox (aside from the Raceway, SL secret room and one in the B1 loading dock leading to Mangle's vent repair which doesn't even have anything to collect). There's also a regular a gold AR variant in Ruin; with the Easter egg room and base staff bots linking Baby to Bonnie's, I could maybe say that for AR Plushbaby being found in the Raceway as it's right below the bowling alley, but the base one is in the Daycare - far east away from Bonnie Bowl. Also I found most plushies are in green boxes, but Baby was in a pink one and Nightmarionne in a gold (while also being the only of the 10 characters not have a gold variant in base or Ruin. One more thing: when folks discussed the baobab tree from Storyteller, sometimes they fumbled and said Bidybab tree. XD

Things I think would be cool for fnaf. 1. A fnaf 2d animated series 2. A new fnaf graphic novel series 3. A fnaf game about Henry Emily setting up the events of the fnaf 6 pizzeria trap 4. A fnaf game about William afton experimenting on remnant and the funtimes in afton robotics 5. A fnaf game about the rival businesses of fazbear entertainment 6. A fnaf board game or puzzle with lore 7. A fnaf webcomic series with lore 8. A fnaf ultimate custom night sequel 9. A another new fnaf logbook or guide book 10. Warning: (this idea is personally my favorite but a lot of people will most likely disagree or not like it), a fnaf game about a newly built fazbear frights in the form of a massive horrorplex with William afton as the star attraction, but instead of being a threat (wether by choice or perhaps memory loss) decides to try and redeem himself and put a end to fazbear entertainment from ruining anymore lives.

I think part of why these things didn't last is because their designs feel so peeled back. They don't really have any defining traits other than being tangentially related to Circus Baby and looking like a bald toddler.

You do make a good point. It could be that the Biddybabs we’re concept designs to human robot kids? Hell we have Mimi-renas and we don’t really know why Afton made them. XD FNAF has its flaws, but that’s not stopping me from loving it.

No matter what someone can say to me. The plush babys are just downgraded bidybabs to me, I could drop kick a plush baby, but I wouldn't dare approach a bidybab without preparing. The bidybabs make more sense in place of plush babys, in every way. (Plus if you wanna argue the colors thing, the bidybabs could have glowing eyes like baby, and for variety there's electrobab.)
