I just hope some features and fighters will return - Hara-Kiris, Friendships, Konquest mode, Motor kombats, Tag Teams, Stryker, Ashrah, Nitara, Sareena, Reiko, Fujin, Nightwolf, Taven, Havik, Kai, Frost, Delia

I don't know if anyone said this but for the AC Odyssey Season Pass it was ti make up for there being no game this year and for $40 it gives you 2 different expansions with 3 episodes each with about 3+ hours of content each but it also gives you AC 3 + AC Liberation Remasters for free when they release, so arguably its a great value.

The thing with "graphics" is that I've always thought of it as being a word that is inclusive of both the technical aspects of how a game looks and runs alongside it's actual aesthetics art style and presentation. And, if you look a most game reviews from back in the day, when we started rating various aspects of games for review scores, graphics was used in the way I'm describing: It was usually Presentation, Graphics, Playability, Sound, Replayability and Overall. So I personally think graphics is the right word to use when talking about a games graphics, since it's not just art or technical, but it seems most people these days are slightly confused with what it means.

I actually miss and indeed prefer the old couch setup. It used to feel like I was chillin' with you guys sitting in a living room somewhere and we were all just chatting away about video games. Now, even as good as it is, it feels like I'm watching a show with some presenters talking about video games. It's still great, and my fav show like this online just now, but it's not it's lost a little bit of the magic the original format had imo. Not quite the same; not quite as good.

If you would like old podcast episodes of Game Scoop, going back all the way to the beginning in 2006, you can go to the following Wayback Machine capture of the Game Scoop Archives IGN Blog (RIP). web.archive.org/web/20151009194253/www.ign.com/blogs/gamescooparchives Just take off the web archive parts before "retromovies.ign.com..." on the MP3 links to get direct links to the MP3s. I did all the hard work back then so you don't have to! Enjoy! (Hopefully I can figure out a way to get this to a "real" webpage someday...)

Graphics definitely feed into the immersion in the same way a well written and directed story do. I do appreciate the level of detail that can be exhibited nowadays. I remember when I couldn’t tell wtf was on the screen lol 😂 Frames just have to be solid, stable for me so it doesn’t break immersion for I prefer a lot of the narrative driven titles.

Golden Axe and Flashback remain very playable today, as I think Daemon would agree. Flashback is basically Prince of Persia with guns and Golden Axe never relied on just graphical appeal, like Altered Beast for example did. Sam is always trying to talk down Genesis classics because he's such a Nintendo fanboy, unfortunately. I wish he'd let go of the 16-bit war already.

I actually think the modern Mortal Kombat games do a better job of realising the overall aesthetic of the classic games they're based on than the modern Street Fighter games do. Mortal Kombat always looked very "American"to me (cheesy Hollywood and live-action machismo), and it still does. Street Fighter used to look very Japanese (very anime/Manga), which I absolutely loved, but now it too actually looks more "American" in its art style. The art in the new Street Fighter games is more like the box art of the old Street Fighter games than the actual art style. I genuinely think Nintendo did a better and more authentic job of nailing the Street Fighter aesthetic with it's couple of inclusions in Smash Bros. than Capcom's artists have managed with the new games, which is a bit crazy.
