The theory is not true because when Simba returned to fight Scar, Scar thought he was Mufasa. If Scar ate Mufasa the would have even questioned that “Simba” was Mufasa.

This was years after Mufasa's death, so his body could have decomposed to a skeleton. I've watched many documentaries on death and true crime so I know. Though vultures and bugs are a plausible cause as well. Maybe his body became grass and eaten by antelope as he mentioned earlier in the movie. Who knows?

Also yes, that is indeed a baboon skull because of the teeth. Only the canines are sharp while the rest are flat. A very common trait in non-human primates. Also that skull is way too small to be a lion's skull, let alone Mufasa's, as big as he was, and lions, like other felines, have an angle at the back of the cranium, and the muzzle would have been shorter, so it should have stood to reason that this was not a lion's skull.

As a lion king fanatic, this theory sincerely annoys me 😅 The whole movie revolves around the beautiful Circle of Life philosophy. Mufasa opened the movie with a lesson on how we are all connected. When Mufasa passed, I can almost guarantee that buzzards and scavengers ate him, tying back to the Circle of Life

Wow. That makes an already intense Disney movie even more disturbing. Towards the end of the movie, the Pride lands have suffered a serious drought. The lions talk about their struggle to get food. So the hyenas or lions might have eaten Mufasa if they were desperate enough. Gross meat is better than no meat at all.
