Brian Tyson Adam Neely often makes educational or Q&A type videos about music that have an interesting question as the title, and the answer to the question is right in the thumbnail. Many people in the comments have referred to this as Anti-clickbait, because it’s the opposite of clickbait videos and articles that use a question to make you click to learn the answer, which they’ll often hold back till the end. Adam does the opposite and gives an instant answer, and hopefully your curiosity to learn more will make you watch the video anyway.

Mary - fun fact: in the UK, it doesn't matter if the artist has heard your song or not. All you have to prove is that a) you wrote it first, and b) they're substantially similar, and you win.
@thatdrewrivers5 жыл бұрын
Trouble there is, this guy is famous, apparently (Though I've never heard of him) and this means he probably has a big record company behind him, with a lot of money and a big legal team. They could simply tie this up in litigation until Mary runs out of money and has to drop the case if she pursued it. Sadly, this practice is legal and how most big firms get away with this sort of shit.

Yes , but he is Canadian, and from i can find recorded in US. So , i doubt they could even get the case to UK courts . It moat likely would take place in US or Canada. But. Maybe not.

@@i8ittoo - that's not how it works. If you sue, you sue in your own jurisdiction (which would obviously be the UK). Then, if the subject of your suit wants to do business in the UK (ie sell records), they have to resolve the suit. At that point, it's cheaper to settle.

For the UK, when you write a song place it in a sealed envelop (the difficult to open plastic ones are ideal) then post it to yourself by registered mail to ensure that it has a date on it. For the US you must get the song copyrighted which I think costs around $35 (but you can include more than one song).
@Jaryth145 жыл бұрын
You know, that vocal melody also reminds me a lot of an Imogen Heap thing, too. This is a constant thing with me. We've only got twelve notes to play with, minus what isn't in your whatever key you're working in, so whenever there's a clever way to feather them together, it's a pretty good bet that someone else, at some point, will have or will have had a similar idea. To a certain extent, that's just going to have to be okay because, if it isn't, we eventually won't be allowed to make anything new that sounds more like music than noise. What I hate is when I catch it myself, and one of my own works is ruined for me because I can't get another similar song out of my head.

Nike shoelaces are just the worst. Mine also used to come undone just like that, so I stick the loops into my shoes after having tied them. These laces were also the only ones that made a hard knot 80% of the time when I untied them. What the fuck... Never again. Oh, as a German it is unfathomable for me how you could like that language in music.
@djamilavera77335 жыл бұрын
The thing is that in this day and age, EVERYTHING has been done music wise, EVERY chord progressions, EVERY harmonies, absolutely EVERYTHING has been done and redone so yes songs sounding alike is very common . I heard your song and his song and yes it's one line that sounds alike when he finishes the chorus but since there are SOOOOO many musicians, it might as well be possible that he simply thought of the same melody as you rather than blatantly copying you. I don't think it would win if you went all the way to court for copyright since so many songs sounds alike ( lots of pop songs for example). Otherwise everybody would sue everybody since again , everything has been done. I am sure he is not or your not the only one that came up with that chord progression . If the whole song sounded like yours, then it would come down to who wrote the whole melody first but then again, you might get other artists coming forward with their songs sounding the same saying "hold one, I actually, I wrote that song first".. Hope it make sense. I actually just won a copyright claim with someone who used the same loop I did but I actually made that particular track over 5 years ago while his was only one year old. My track sounded nothing like his, we only both though of using the same drum loop so it came down to who wrote it first which I did.

Have a look and see who books his gigs, a thread is all it takes to make a quilt.... Like I said his music and background are way way different, but the venues in UK and Europe would be fine for you. yeh thats what i hate about music copyrights, rules written by people who are not artists and dont know how stuff works... so many people on the planet, alot of them making music and only 12 notes to go arround about... stuff is going to sound similar, maybe 10 people come up with the same stuff and 9 of those we never hear, but all of a sudden youre playing somewhere and its your own song and someone comes up and be legal claiming and you have no idea whats going on... sometimes these rules are to strict and seem to benefit suits more than musicians music is universal, i think its right authors are protected if i write something, it should be known it was me who wrote it, if someone wants to build on that or do another version ye they can be my guest good for them, there shouldnt be rules against it and i shouldnt benefit from their performance either, only mine... thats my opinion but some people want to make millions of other talent so their opinions are different
