Yes, the DADA curse died with Voldemort. In Half Blood Prince book, Harry knew that Dumbledore was truly dead because the freezing spell he cast on Harry when Draco and the death eaters were coming up the stairs. A charm, curse or spell dies when the witch or wizard who initiated it dies.All the members of the Order Of The Phoenix became secret keepers upon Dumbledore's death.

The proof is that when Dumbledore was on the tower he was able to make it so that Harry couldn't speak or move but as soon as Professor Snape killed Dumbledore then Harry was able to move and speak because the "curse'' lifted upon his death which means that all the charms that we put in place with Hogwarts needed to be redone by Professor Flitwick & others that were knowledgeable to add those protections to the school

there is evidence that some curses and magic do not go away afther the death of the person casting it, it is for instance mentioned to be cases like that in Egypt in several tombs (Mentioned in book 3) the eldest wheesly son also worked as a curse breaker and for instance worked in some regard with the tomb in question. . there is also the charm or spell that permanently ataches something to a wall. this one also is kept up afther the death of a person, we see this several times at sirus house. the potrait of the mother for instance cant be removed we also see it sirius room, and its the case with a potrait at the prime ministers of brithans office. there is also other obious instances like hogworth itself with things like the room of requirements and the mystery chamber.

Curses don't end with the death of the caster. It has to be dispelled to be removed. That is why there are curses that are passed on to the next generation. As long as the job exists the curse will remain.

It depends on the type of curse. A curse like this one or the body bind depends on the relation of the caster to the curse. Voldemort wanted the DADA position so cursed it in order to one day hold the position once he actually died the curse lifted because he obvs no longer needed the position. Other spells and curses are tied to objects and can last longer than a human life because they’re not tied to the caster. (ie: many things in Grimauld Place.)

This is the one question I always had. Why the hell did Dumbledore allow Voldemort at Hogwarts to apply for the job and second of all Dumbledore knew the class was cursed so for the applicants applying for the job he knowingly put their lives in danger knowing something bad could happen to them after the school years is over.

I don't think Dumbledore can control who applies. Only those who get accepted or rejected. It's also possible that he warns each candidate about the dangers of the job but they chose to go for it anyways

I personally think the lift of DADAs post curse makes no sense. Because the Chamber of Secrets' didn't cease to exist after Salazar died. So idk about this 🤔

I wonder about the shield that was put over Hogwarts during the battle it’s stated that the killing curse could not be blocked. obviously the shield over the school wasn’t a typical shield charm for one person but to fortified a location. So my question is could the hogwarts shield block the curse otherwise couldn’t a death-eater Just blast the shield away.

What other subjects did Quirrel teach besides DADA? The way Fred and George make it sound in the first book, he taught it before he went looking for Voldemort. That would mean that he made it through more than one year. Maybe not consecutive years but definitely more than one.

To a certain extent, Harry was also a DADA teacher but in secret. The DA classes, he taught the students what he knew. And it only lasted that one year.

@@trolletuva okay, a few things... First, Wikipedia is not an official source for anything. It's a secondary source. Second, poltergeist are fictional creatures and can have whatever definition the storyteller intends. I was using the definition given by JK Rowling for The poltergeist in her stories. Other stories will have them as ghosts. For example, the poltergeist movie series I believe had them as ghosts of a sort. In the case of Rowling's wizarding world universe, they are supernatural forces brought to existence by the activities of people in a given area.
