Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we’ll be discussing some of the best secrets held by founder of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Salazar Slytherin.
A pureblood British wizard, Salazar Slytherin is one of the first known individuals to have possessed the ability to speak the language of the snakes, a rare, genetically inherited skill referred to as Parseltongue. He was also said to be skilled at Legilimency, which is a complex form of magical “mind reading”. As an incredibly talented and powerful wizard, Salazar was also one of the four witches and wizards to establish the world-famous wizarding school of Hogwarts. And yet, despite his impressive intellect and abilities, Salazar Slytherin has arguably the worst reputation of any of the four founders-with even darker secrets.

This video sheds some much needed light on the misconception that all those sorted into Slytherin House are evil. Salazar Slytherin was in a position, along with his fellow founders, to institute morals, incorporate values, and establish influences that would remain as long as Hogwarts itself. Salazar may have chosen to do what he did by severing his ties with the other founders and make his departure from Hogwarts but his nature and influence remained. Some sorted into Slytherin house readily adopt this nature and are ambitious in keeping his legacy alive, but others do not. The choices made and crimes committed by one man in the past do not subject all those who come after to the same fate. As Dumbledore said, “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities“.

Salazar’s greatest secret was he actually loved paperwork and muggle bureaucracy so when he left Hogwarts he went to work for the government.

I'd want to know what happened to Slytherin before Hogwarts. Did something happen that made him hate all muggles? It was after all a time where magic was feared and magicians punished. But whatever it was it doesn't mean it's OK to teach unforgivable curses to kids.

I like to think Salazar’s partner, parent or someone close to him was murdered by muggles hence his strong views against admitting muggles to study at Hogwarts, he simply wanted to protect his race from the same fate he suffered and during his time witches & wizards were seen as freaks and being murdered for practicing magic. I reckon the basilisk in the chamber of secrets was a failsafe to protect the students and teachers incase Hogwarts been overrun and attacked by muggles.

Yeah I was thinking that the entrance to the slyther room common room would be more difficult or elaborate but it's so easy. You just find a snake along the ground and say pure blood to enter not very clever.

So, The Chamber of Secrets held the basilisk whos stare would kill muggle borns but Tom Riddle opened the Chamber and was not a pure blood wizard, I am pretty sure his father was a muggle. So how did he get away with it? Is speaking parseltongue some sort of work around or just one of many plot holes?

The unforgivable curses have supposedly been around as long as magic itself, but have only been “unforgivable” until a couple hundred years ago. Voldemort invented/created NO spells. He’s no Severus Snape

Unpopular opinion Salazar Slytherin wasn’t necessarily evil. Wizards was for a long time under the EVIL persecution of muggles for a long time. Wanting to keep wizards related to those attacking your communities outside of your world is just common sense you ask me. You wouldn’t expect Jews to invite the children of active nazis to their schools
