So, a friend and I were working on an evolution of BruseThras that was doing some insanity based on one of my Esika lists but in a Dawnwaker shell for the functionality of an outlet in the CZ - however we couldn't quite get it to click. Enter this mad idea inspired by you guys about replacing them with the Dr and K9 and we now have something purely wild that I cannot wait to try. ❤❤❤

Or hear me out. The one dr you have in your deck is the 15th dr. You then mill your entire library and cast sevinnes rec to get underworld Breach. Then you got the classic Intuition line. Or if you want black you could even try that + dread return. I'm gunna try it. Maybe there's a grinding station lines? 15th dr gets that from the GY too.

Currently working on a list and trying to break maskwood nexus on the doctor effect since k9 offers an artifact creature in the cz for transmute artifact/reshape.

I think de Doctors are specifically the creatures that are only “ time lord doctor “ . Maskwood makes everything all types and shouldn’t work. I think Gavin talks about this.

@@sushimahjongfc I'm not sure that's how it works exactly, unless Gavin talks about this particular card individually. What you describe sounds more like the rulings behind the Doctor's Companion mechanic, but I don't think that necessarily holds true for this doctor's ability, since doctor is a creature type. There are other doctor cards that many already say only care about the creature type being doctor, like gallifrey stands for example, rather than needing something to be one of the specific named doctor cards.

Stop leaving it up to each individual magic player to interpret the word "casual". Games need rules and defined structure. Create two ban lists already---one for casual and one for tournament play.

Bad idea. Despite the fact that it would never catch on, you’d effectively create four formats if you succeeded. There’d be both casual and competitive players that would want to play within the lax and the strict banlists

Uhmm, actually you can put the doctor in the Zone whenever it's exiled, so yeah. Emiel works.

No, when your commander changes zones to exile, then you may put it in the command zone as a state based action. State based actions are not checked in the middle of resolving spells or abilities so you may not put your commander in the command zone during blink effects wether from spells or abilities like Emiel.

@@W4llh4k Yeah they changed it from a replacement effect to a state based effect for exile and graveyard, and made it so you can put it in the command zone as a replacement effect if it would go into your hand or library. Edit: this is why turbo Rocco doesn't play Emiel, it can't reset your commander and you get stuck sometimes with infinite treasures and no outlet. For Thrasios deck you just need mana to pump into activations so Emiel is more efficient.

@@W4llh4k People also tend to forget that you can put commander into zone from hand if it gets bounced. It is rarely relevant (usually you want the cheaper casting cost from hand), but something like a knowledge pool lock you want the commander in the zone because you don't want to cast it from your hand.
